Great place. Great Staff. Super welcoming and friendly but beware of the mosquitos .. nice shower water but pics are a little bit off but budget villa so its all good. very comfortable if your not scared of bugs!
Very pleasant experience. Extremely friendly staff, we recommend arriving during the day as it is slightly difficult to find on the first try (once you know where it is it's quite easy). Indonesian breakfasts were very tasty, the staff kept everything extremely clean. The only complaint we have is we were unable to access WiFi in our bedroom (air-conditioned!) so we had to put on bug repellent and go to the swimming pool every time we wanted internet. Ketut helped us rent motorbikes (3 days / $150,000 IDR amazing price) and the location was great.
You booked my "Budget Villa" in Legian and it is already stated in the description that WiFi is only available in public area. If you wish to have WiFi inside you villa, please book my "Beach Villa" or my " Seminyak Villa".
To clarify, Budget Villas in Legian only have Wifi in the pool area whereas my Beach Villas and Seminyak Villas have WiFi inside the bedrooms. Thank you!
Nice experience at the villa. Totally different from a hotel room.
You will need half a day to settle in with the environment.
Staffs are courteous.
I stayed at the budget villa one in Legian. Kumpul Kumpul has three locations, all within walking distance of each other.
This one is serene and quiet, it is down a little gang (lane) that only locals use. It's a few blocks from the beach and that means quiet.
The villa has an open air kitchen/dining/living room with dishes (even a decent knife) and unlimited drinking water.
The tv has several international channels in a variety of languages.
The shower is hot, hot, hot and the water pressure strong.
The sheets are smooth, the towels soft, and they are all bleachy white.
The villa has a well-kept private garden space with a pair of resident birds that preferred the chandelier to their palm tree. They are fabulous entertainment.
The pool area is gorgeous with pavilion, loungers, dining table and books. In the three days I was there, I never saw anyone else in the pool.
Breakfast is delivered to each villa at the time I requested. There is a list of options, both western and Balinese. I found the earlier I had breakfast, the fresher it tasted.
My phone and iPad were not compatible with the wifi. One of the staff had zero problem logging onto the internet. I, however, was never able to. It was an inconvenience, but not a problem. There is a pretty cafe a.r.a.k. on JL Raya Legian that has superb cappuccino, sweet staff and free wifi...less than 100 meters away.
I couldn't get the aircon to work properly when I was there, but it was cool and rainy, so it wasn't a problem. I am sure Ivan has fixed it.
And, finally, I arrived at nearly two a.m. The staff was friendly and alert. There was absolutely no bad attitude about me being so late. They were just hanging out, waiting patiently. This, more than anything, impressed me. Over, and over, the staff impressed me with their enthusiasm for their work and their positive attitudes.
We stayed here for three nights in early January 2014 and would stay again if we were back in the area.
The place is a gem, a little oasis away from the madness of Kuta - which is all only a short walk away. The AC was luxury, the bed big and comfy, breakfasts were delicious, the pool was heaven to jump into and laze around next to and the staff were all super friendly and helpful whenever we needed them.
For its value - quite a nice place.
Disadvantages (we lived in Kumpul Kumpul II):
1. No Wi fi in the room, just outside the pool (and it's slow)
2. Door locks are easily opened without a key
3. Cleaned not every day
Thank you for your feedback commenting that is a nice place with a great value. It is true that Kumpul Kumpul VilIa II Legian is "value-for-money" compared to my other villas (Kumpul Kumpul I Double Six and Kumpul Kumpul III Seminyak). Because of this, in terms of facilities, such as Wi-Fi, it is limited to public pool area, whereas my other villas have full Wi-Fi coverage.
In regards to your concern about not being cleaned everyday, our housekeeping policy is to clean villas everyday. However, I was told by my staffs that you were very private and often tell them off whenever they try to clean the villa. And my staffs has been described by other guests as "very helpful" and "always around" (see reviews below). So in regards to this I cannot agree with you as there maybe a misunderstanding.
You also stayed during the period of Galungan from Oct 23 - Oct 25 (3 day festive period in Balinese culture). During this period I have sent out letters to all guests that my housekeeping staffs will be cleaning the villas half day (8.30am to 1pm) on the first (Oct 23) and third day (Oct 25). The only day there is no housekeeping service is on the second day Oct 24, which is the most important day of the festive, out of respect to my Balinese staffs. Therefore if you lock your doors and did not let my staffs between 8.30am to 1pm during this period, most probably your villa was not cleaned during this time. I am assuming that this is done with you already aware of the housekeeping schedule letters that I sent out to guests earlier.
I will check on the door that you claimed is easily opened without keys. Thank you and I hope this clarify the issues that were raised by you. Cheers
My Villa at Kumpul Kumpul II was very spacious, very Bali I felt. Close to what I wanted to be close to. Well priced. Very friendly service. Thanks Kumpul Kumpul, I would definitely consider staying here again.
