About This Listing
Enjoy our Toronto home while we're away. Five min walk to Eglinton station on the main Yonge subway line. Excellent local shopping, movies, restaurants, bars. Short subway ride to theatre district, TIFF venues, Eaton Centre
Our place is a typical Toronto semi-detached. On the main level is living room, dining room, TV room, kitchen and 2 pc bathroom.
Upstairs is a 4 pc bathroom, a bedroom with new queen bed, an office with a new queen-size sofa bed with pillow top and a small bedroom converted to a dressing room (we'll make sure there's room for your stuff too).
On the lower level is a bedroom with a queen bed and a 2 pc bathroom and laundry.
What makes our home special is that we're five minutes from the Eglinton station on the Yonge subway line and we back on to beautiful Eglinton Park so the views are all green at least in summer.
You'll find everything you need for a great stay -- staples in the kitchen, lots of fresh towels, laundry soap by the washing machine etc. Just help yourself. We've been airbnb guests ourselves and know that the little extras make a big difference when you're visiting somewhere new.
Interaction with Guests
We're offering our place while we're away on holiday so you'll be met by our neighbour Kathy who will show you around, give you the key and make sure you know where everything is.
Our neighbourhood -- called North Toronto or Midtown or simply Yonge and Eglinton -- is a wonderful mix of quiet leafy residential streets (like ours) and a vibrant busy shopping district with great shops, grocery store, liquor store, excellent restaurants and bars, a dozen movies playing at two multiplex cinemas -- all a 5 min walk. We'll leave you info on our favourite restaurants and shops.
We're only a 5 min walk to the Eglinton station on the main Yonge subway line so you can be downtown in 20 minutes. Both Yonge St. and Eglinton Ave. are major bus routes.
We're a 30 minute taxi from Pearson airport.
If you need parking, you can apply for street parking on the City of Toronto website -- $19.66 per week, $8.39 per 24 hours or $12.59 per 48 hours, plus H.S.T.
Other Things to Note
Also available for use are baby/toddler stuff -- new crib, change table, high chair, potty -- all IKEA -- and stroller, toys and other necessities courtesy of our grandsons.
No pets (but we're open to discussing small well-behaved dogs and neighbour Kathy offers dog-sitting for a fee). No smoking.
Amazing hosts, would gladly stay here again. Home was elegant and peaceful. Quick train ride to downtown, and the description was extremely accurate.
Our host left us a lovely loaf of breakfast bread and there were other breakfast items. I addressed the description in the last box. It is really 2 bedrooms with study with fold-out day bed, which is actually quite comfortable for people of reasonably average size. The neighborhood was nice, with a mixture of people and little gardens in front of the houses.
Christine was very helpful ahead of time in answering my questions about her home, the area and the rental process (my first time using AirBNB). Upon arrival, Kathy, her neighbour, gave us a friendly welcome and a brief tour of the space, which was helpful in getting settled in. The space itself is beautiful and looks just like it does in the photographs. It's also conveniently located near a subway stop, amenities, and a large park. One of the couples in our group had a 7 month old, and they found that the baby supplies (like a highchair and changing table) as well as the 3rd bedroom being separate from the other 2 (it's in the well-lit, walk-out basement) to be very helpful throughout our stay. Overall, we had a very positive experience and I would highly recommend Christine's home to future AirBNB-ers.
Beautiful and comfortable home. Rooms were very spacious. The hostess was very quick to respond to various inquiries. She was extremely informative
My husband, daughter and myself spent 3 nights at this lovely home while in Toronto for my son's wedding. The location was perfect - short 10 minute drive to the wedding venue, the Evergreen Brickworks and a 3 minute walk to the shops and eating establishments of Yonge Street. The neighbourhood was lovely - a mixture of old and newly renovated homes. The house was immaculate, well equipped and well furnished. We just loved the comforts of the family room with huge skylight and relaxing on the back deck overlooking the park. Beautiful and so peaceful. Of special note is the comfort of the beds both in the master bedroom and the den, complete with nice quality bed linens.
Christine was very prompt in responding to all my inquiries and was extremely patient and helpful dealing with an error I made when completing the booking. This was our first experience with airbnb and it has been extremely positive. Christine's home was a perfect home away from home for us on this special weekend!
We stayed at Christine's place for a week and we felt sad to leave on the last day! The house was spacious, bright, and very convenient. Great location for us. It takes only 10 mins to go downtown Toronto by subway, and the subway station is quite close - just 5 mins walk. However, you don't need to go downtown all the time, as there's everything you want in the neighbourhood - a big shopping centre, restaurants, and for me - a big bookstore! Christine was very helpful, even though we didn't get a chance to meet her in person, but she's always there. She welcomed us with nice breakfast, milk, etc. We loved taking a walk in the park behind the house. We'll definitely stay there again next time we're in Toronto.
Nice place close to downtown with a great view on the park. We had a really good time. Thanks
About the Host, Christine
We run a couple of small businesses, are over-the-moon grandparents, love to travel (first trip to Provence and Paris coming up). We fit in as much outdoor stuff as we can. And as much live music. I just finished All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr and loved it. Chris is halfway through Alan Furst's Mission to Paris.
