We are looking forward to hosting you!!
Extremely clean. Very comfortable bed. If you don't mind a 30 min walk to town a great place to stay. Breakfast was nice too!
My friend and I stayed with Michele in December of 2013, and we loved it. We were only supposed to spend two nights there but opted to spend a third because we enjoyed it so much. The room is small and basic but has everything you need, along with a fridge. Michele and his mother made us breakfast every morning and it was delicious. They were so welcoming and nice. The closest beach is just a five minute walk and the nearby towns are safe and nice. Would definitely stay there again.
très bon lieu pour passer de bonnes vacances dans un parc bien soigné et des hôtes gentils et attentionnés , c'est très propre et le petit déjeuner est bon merci à eux
I had 2 great nights at Michele.
He's a great host and was very helpful in every situation!
Everything was very clean. I felt very comfortable and was happy to stay there.
There are a few meters to the beach, there are also some small restaurants and snack bars which can be reached quickly.
If you don't own a car, Michele knows also good taxi drivers who drive for a fair price.
The breakfast was delicious!
I would book again!
Thanks a lot Michele!
My wife and I arrived late on New Years Eve and even though it was raining Michele went out of his way to come pick us up from the bus station. We had a great say in the bungalow and I would recommend it for anyone who is looking to try something off the beaten path in Cahuita. It's a pretty solid 20-25 minute walk from the heart of town but an easy one at that as it's just down one simple road. The beach, Playa Grande, which is quite literally across the street from the bungalow is breathtaking and quite isolated. If you are looking for some quiet beach time...this is a spot that shouldn't be missed. Michele was a very gracious host but also left us to our own devices which is something that we really appreciated. Our favorite part of the rental was the simple but very delicious breakfast Michele's mother made us each morning. A great host and a great first stay in Cahuita. Be sure to visit Tree of Life just up the road the left! AMAZING!
Michele advised me on which bus to take to Cahuita and picked me up at the station. The cabina is a few kilometers walking from the city center. You see many people biking as there are several bike rentals close by. The cabina is nice and clean and has a nice little terrace. The ideal place for eating breakfast while you watch the hummingbird having his.
Over all a nice place to be.
My girlfriend and I stayed here in order to see the city of Cahuita. The accommodations were comfortable, and Michele and his mother made every effort to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. I would recommend staying here if you are interested in visiting Cahuita but would prefer to stay somewhere more remote, quieter, and closer to nature.
Miscellaneous information to help you make your decision:
Walking to Cahuita from Playa Grande Lodge takes about 45 minutes. You should not make this walk alone at night.
Within 10-15 minutes walking distance there is the Playa Grande beach, an Italian restaurant, and the Tree of Life animal sanctuary.
The bungalow is separated into two double rooms which are rented separately. One room does not have a kitchen but includes breakfast; whereas, the other room does have a kitchen with a mini-fridge and cooking facilities but does not include breakfast.
Internet access is available but is hosted from Michele's house. This made the internet unavailable unless you were standing about 5 meters in front of the steps of the porch. Despite this, it worked great for short sessions such as checking email or a single website.
First we booked two nights and stayed five. That's how lovely the place with the two bungalows and the tree house of Michele and Flavia is. The houses are not right at the beach, but you just cross the small dirt road and there it is. It a very quiet and laid-back place and the restaurant Flavia and Michele added last year is a big plus! You have a spectacular view on the beach and the sea while having your breakfast! And Flavia is the best cook in the region I would say! A great choice of meals and a little bit of italian touch make the restaurant a unique experience to eat at. Being Italians they both were full of good spirits and it's just been nice talking to, spending time with them and sit with them over dinner. THey are a sweet and fun couple and we felt totally at home. We stayed in the smaller bungalow, which doesn't have a kitchen, but just the bedroom, bathroom and a fridge. It was totally sufficient for us and since the bungalows are a somewhat new addition to the property, everything appears to be quite new and it was super clean. We loved the bungalow and the especially the matress! We had the best sleep than anywhere else in Costa Rica. We'd like to thank Michele and Flavia for their hard work and efforts to make their guests' stay as pleasant as possible. The area has a lot to offer so you easily can spend 5 days or more: the nicest snorkeling beach at Manzanillo, jungle trails in Manzanillo, snorkeling tours, turtle watch, animal rescue centres, trips to Panama... If coming to this area, you should stay here. Everything is reachable in no time and it's a very safe and quiet place to hang out. It was the perfect experience and spot to say our byes to Costa Rica before returning home!
