Your Oceanview queen bedroom, spacious Garden Room (or 2nd bdrm) & private bath await you. Relax in our secluded garden, read in front of the fireplace. Let waves lull you to sleep, wake up to fresh-baked croissants & fruit to enjoy with your coffee.

*** NEWS: Winter storms can be exciting, and on sunny days the sky over the ocean is crystal clear. The GRAY WHALE MIGRATION starts in March and whales are close offshore in front of the house. Enjoy WINE TASTING at nearby Ingalls St. warehouse complex, home to a collective of micro-boutique wineries, making Westside Santa Cruz a vibrant mecca for wine tasting. Walk there and back for lunch at Kelly’s French Bakery or West End Tap Kitchen. Meet, sip and talk with winemakers! ***
Warm yourself in front of the Garden Room fireplace with hot chocolate after a long stroll along the ocean. Watch whales, otters and dolphins.
Stroll 20 minutes and visit the ocean exhibits at UCSC’s Seymour Center. Take pictures beside the sun-bleached whale skeleton. Take a short drive or long walk along the ocean to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. In season, ride our classic wooden coaster featured in Sudden Impact, The Lost Boys, and Dangerous Minds. Explore charming downtown Santa Cruz – we can point you to terrific restaurants and some artisan ice creameries our city is becoming famous for.
Bike or drive to nearby Wilder Ranch and hike the hills or the cliffs. You’ll find activities there for the whole family, too. There are hundreds of hikes near Santa Cruz – through redwoods, along the ocean and beaches. We can point you to some local favorites.
Monterey and delightful, extra dog-friendly Carmel are a 50 minute drive down the coast. A little further along, visit spectacular Point Lobos. Or leave early in the morning, continue along Highway 1 to the unforgettable Big Sur – a great day trip.
We live on the second floor. Your Oceanview Room, with comfortable queen bed, is on the first floor. A private bathroom across the hall is reserved for your personal use. You always have use of the Garden Room (with cable TV and DVD player) which opens on to a delightful back garden. We have a rooftop deck which you're welcome to visit by arrangement.
The Garden Room is fairly private but does not have a door. The couch in this room converts to a comfortable ‘full’ or ‘double’ bed, fine for children or an adult. Two adults may find it somewhat cozy.
The ground floor also contains Mike's home office, Susan's desk and her sewing area in a nook in the Garden Room. During the day, we may be working in those areas. However, when someone is sleeping in the Garden Room, we'll coordinate our schedule to not come through. At night, you can close off the entire ground floor area with a sliding door.
We do not offer kitchen access, but do provide you with a Keurig coffee maker with a nice selection of coffee, tea, hot chocolate and breakfast bars in the Garden Room.
We offer convenient free parking in our driveway. You can bike or walk for miles on the paved path right in front of the house. A Santa Cruz Metro bus stop is a 10 minute walk, but a car is far more flexible.
Other Things to Note

Thank you Mike and Susan! We had a great time visiting this comfy garden apartment for a couple nights. The unit was located in a great neighborhood, with the beach right across the street. Perfect place if you're looking to check out the waves in the morning. S
What a lovely place to stay. The hosts were very welcoming, the location is gorgeous and the amenities are plentiful. And Fido is delightful. We will definitely rebook if we are in the area.
We had a very relaxing time in this amazing location. The ocean views are spectacular. Susan & Mike provided everything we needed, including wonderful morning pain-au-chocolat. The garden is lovely, the beds comfortable. A great place to stay!
If you're looking to stay somewhere near the beach you can't get any closer than this. It's just a step outside your front door. Our hosts, Mike, Susan and Fido couldn't have been nicer. Our area had everything and more we needed to make our stay perfect. Beautiful scenery, gormet meals and spectacular weather made it a stellar weekend. Can't wait to go back!
We were welcomed with a glass of wine, and the comfort of our own few rooms! This spot is at a perfect location right on Cliff Drive!
Wonderful location, overlooking the ocean and clifftop jogging path, large comfortable rooms, gracious hosts. I didn't expect such attention to detail: nice breakfast, 10 kinds of shampoo, different types of pillows, sheltered garden. We just had one couple, but would be good with second couple or child. I hope all airbnbs are this good.
Mike and Susan were very warm and welcoming. The rental was beautiful and well stocked with every convenience. I will definitely come back.
