*** NEWS: The HUMPBACKS ARE BACK. While the gray whale migration is over, we're having unusually frequent visits by humpback whales close offshore in front of the house. Enjoy WINE TASTING at nearby Ingalls St. warehouse complex, home to a collective of micro-boutique wineries, making Westside Santa Cruz a vibrant mecca for wine tasting. Walk there and back for lunch at Kelly’s French Bakery or West End Tap Kitchen. Meet, sip and talk with winemakers! ***
Warm yourself in front of the Garden Room fireplace with hot chocolate after a long stroll along the ocean. Watch whales, otters and dolphins.
Stroll 20 minutes and visit the ocean exhibits at UCSC’s Seymour Center. Take pictures beside the sun-bleached whale skeleton. Take a short drive or long walk along the ocean to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. In season, ride our classic wooden coaster featured in Sudden Impact, The Lost Boys, and Dangerous Minds. Explore charming downtown Santa Cruz – we can point you to terrific restaurants and some artisan ice creameries our city is becoming famous for.
Bike or drive to nearby Wilder Ranch and hike the hills or the cliffs. You’ll find activities there for the whole family, too. There are hundreds of hikes near Santa Cruz – through redwoods, along the ocean and beaches. We can point you to some local favorites.
Monterey and delightful, extra dog-friendly Carmel are a 50 minute drive down the coast. A little further along, visit spectacular Point Lobos. Or leave early in the morning, continue along Highway 1 to the unforgettable Big Sur – a great day trip.
We live on the second floor. Your Oceanview Room, with comfortable queen bed, is on the first floor. A private bathroom across the hall is reserved for your personal use. You always have use of the Garden Room (with cable TV and DVD player) which opens on to a delightful back garden. We have a rooftop deck which you're welcome to visit by arrangement.
The Garden Room is fairly private but does not have a door. The couch in this room converts to a comfortable ‘full’ or ‘double’ bed, fine for children or an adult. Two adults may find it somewhat cozy.
The ground floor also contains Mike's home office, Susan's desk and her sewing area in a nook in the Garden Room. During the day, we may be working in those areas. However, when someone is sleeping in the Garden Room, we'll coordinate our schedule to not come through. At night, you can close off the entire ground floor area with a sliding door.
We do not offer kitchen access, but do provide you with a Keurig coffee maker with a nice selection of coffee, tea, hot chocolate and breakfast bars in the Garden Room.
We offer convenient free parking in our driveway. You can bike or walk for miles on the paved path right in front of the house. A Santa Cruz Metro bus stop is a 10 minute walk, but a car is far more flexible.

My wife, two year old son and I had a great time at the Oceanfront Cliff House. The location is perfect, the hosts are welcoming and also give you privacy to do your own thing. The croissants are a great way to start your day and give you enough fuel to hand out at the ocean for awhile before you make your journey into town for second breakfast.
We had a nice visit to Santa Cruz and enjoyed meeting Mike Susan and Fido!
The house is nicely situated on the seafront. It was cold during our stay and unfortunately the oceanfront location would have benefited from warmth and sunshine. We enjoyed coffee fruit and fresh croissants each morning.
Location, location, location! Large private room, bathroom and lounge in a great house on West Cliff. The view was amazing and I loved being able to walk to the local beach in a few minutes. It was great watching the sun go down and the whales with the hosts Mike & Susan. Mike and Susan are incredibly friendly and interesting people.
Our family had a wonderful time here. The location is perfect. We walked to Nature Bridge State Beach in the morning and again in the evening for the sunset. We walked along the coast to the Wharf. It was beautiful all the way, we took many pictures. It is very convenient to all kinds of restaurants too. The bedroom and the garden room are very comfortable and cozy, and you have ocean view from bed. Mike and Susan both are super nice; they make everything comfortable and convenient. Morning croissants are great. You will enjoy the wine on upper deck. And, Fido the dog is friendly and very cute. My daughter still talks about Fido after we got home. Thank you Mike and Susan!
Our experience here was rejuvenating and revitalizing! Not only were we in a fantastic area of Santa Cruz (near Natural Bridges State Beach, the beautiful path along the coast, interesting and safe neighborhood), we had incredible hosts that made us feel truly welcome and at home! Mike and Susan were both fascinating and inspiring individuals and we spent a great deal of time conversing about the area and life with them. Along with Fido's enthusiasm, we felt a very positive energy from them and their space. The bed was amazingly comfortable, the morning croissants and fruit were a true touch of class and were very delectable, the wine and upper deck view were five star, and the living room area with fireplace provided a cozy space for unwinding after fun-filled days! We would highly recommend this space and these hosts to our family and friends!!!!!!!!!
The hosts were very friendly and gracious! The advertisement was an accurate description of this beautiful sea-side home. We loved our visit and will likely book with them again.
