Redwood Canyon is a place of renewal and rest; a modern river retreat. This 2-story house is nestled along a hillside, and offers views of redwoods out of every window. Partially shaded under redwoods, the house stays fairly cool, yet there is full sun on upper deck, and plenty of natural light from the skylights in upstairs dining/living areas.
Whether you are visiting wine country, here to play in the river, or just looking for a peaceful getaway from your hectic life, Redwood Canyon fits the bill! The Russian River is less than 1/4 mile walk and Korbel Winery is a two minute drive (and there are numerous wineries within a 15 minute drive). Among all of the redwood trees, there is a vibrant bird population that makes for melodious mornings and sometimes unique species sightings.
The house itself is lovely and has been lovingly redone. There are wood, cork and tile floors throughout, tasteful colors and artwork adorn the walls, and comfortable mattresses and furniture complete the environment set for a stay full of relaxation, fun and rejuvenation. The front door leads into the upstairs level, which contains the kitchen, dining room, living room, half bath and the laundry room. The living room has high ceilings, skylights, a wood pellet stove and a flat screen TV with cable and a DVD Player. Sliding doors off the living room open to a sunny and private side deck with gas BBQ and picnic table for outdoor meals. The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware, tableware, coffee maker, toaster, blender, dishwasher, gas stove, microwave, and other major appliances. The dining table, set in front of a large window overlooking the redwood trees, comfortably seats 6 or more.
A stairway just off the dining room leads down to the lower level, which contains 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. All bedrooms have comfortable beds (see below for bed sizes) and full-sized closets. The master bedroom has an en suite bath and sliding glass doors that lead to the lower deck and dog run. The lower deck is shaded by the upper deck and the large hot tub sits in a private location.
Redwood Canyon welcomes dog visitors. A dog door leads from the master bedroom to the lower deck, and a nice sized fully-fenced in yard. Prior dog residents have spent many hours perched out on this deck listening to the sounds of nature and the neighborhood.

The pictures don't give this house justice. The place is perfect for a weekend getaway. I think I was spoiled because the last two guests stayed or thanksgiving and christmas. This would be a wonderful place to host the holidays. I was worried there wouldn't be enough silverware or plates but I was wrong. There's plenty! The hot tub was perfect. The number of bathrooms and supply of towels, etc is great. The owner had games spread throughout the house so we were never bored. The kitchen had everything you needed to cook a delicious meal as well as the BBQ being ready to use! We brought a dog and the entire house is fenced in which is great. It's a narrow uphill road to get to the house but it's a short stretch and worth me being a little scared. The heating of the house was regulated perfectly for my friends and I. Like others have said, it would be nice if there was some grass but hey, having redwoods right outside your door makes you forget about having a grassy field for the dog.
It was easy to check in after hours.
I would definitely come back again.
Redwood Canyon was a great house to stay in for my family of 5 for Christmas. It was secluded, but also close to anything we needed or wanted to do. It close to several state and national parks and right on the Russian River. The River Homes Russian River Vacation Homes Company was incredibly professional and upfront about everything about the house. They were prompt in all correspondences and I would recommend staying in the house.
Spacious and clean, sleeps 7 comfortably! Lovely upper deck with well maintained bbq, make sure you grill something while you're there ;) Jacuzzi is attached to master bedroom off deck and was also clean and spacious. The only thing that could make this place better is if there was some yard or lawn area. Overall, most excellent!
Redwood Canyon was perfect for my friends' weekend getaway. The house is big enough for 6 people, is comfortably decorated with a cute wood pellet stove (fireplace), and is a short drive from downtown Guerneville (check out Big Bottom Market). There's also a bar down the block that plays live music on Saturday nights. To top it all off, there's a nice hot tub on the downstairs deck (my only complaint is that the tub is below the upstairs deck so you can't see much at night).
