About this listing
This gorgeous parlor-floor apartment is on a quiet street just a minute from famous Franklin Ave entertainment, shops and restaurants. Centrally located near 5 trains and 2 buses. 5 mins to Nets Stadium, 15 mins to downtown Manhattan.
*If you have questions about pricing or availability, the calendar is correct and up to date. Also, note that AirBnB correctly calculates all discounts and fees for extra people automatically, so the price you see on your screen when you make your inquiry is the final price you pay; including the security deposit which is refunded to you 48 hrs after you check out.*
When you walk into this apartment, one flight up from the street, you immediately get the feeling of height and space. This gorgeous unit takes up the entire floor of this 3-floor building. It’s a gracious 1,000 SqFt space with high ceilings, decorative mantles, pocket door and original parquet floors.
The street is quiet and tree-lined, with free on-street parking. Two bedrooms with Queen-sized beds in each, dining room, TV room, full sized kitchen and bathroom. It's light and bright and cheerful.
The master bedroom is very large, with a Queen bed and separate sitting area, accommodating a couple. The second bedroom -- at the other end of the apartment -- also has a Queen bed, which another couple can sleep in. There is a sofa in the sitting room, so you could easily sleep one person on the sofa with the provided extra pillow, blankets and linens, or if you choose.
There is also a Queen-sized airbed. One or two people can sleep on that.
During the summer, the apartment is air-conditioned. When the weather starts cooling, we prefer to use fans with open windows. In Winter we store the A/Cs off-site and turn on the heat.
The house is literally steps from well-loved amenities, restaurants and night life, but on a quiet street to allow retreat from the noise.
The apartment is furnished with fluffy towels, men's and women's shampoo, body wash, shaving cream, Q-tips, mouthwash, fresh sheets, blankets, pillows, down comforters, and the full kitchen includes fridge, stove, dishes and silverware, wine glasses, tall pilsners for beer, water glasses, toaster, kettle, toaster oven, coffee maker, cooking utensils, spice rack, coffee, tea, sugar and honey.
For your convenience, there is also an i-Home dual alarm stereo clock radio to charge your i-pad / pod / phone, and umbrellas for any rainy days you encounter. There is a dedicated cordless phone that you may use during your stay to make unlimited calls to the US and Canada.
This is an amazingly central location. Subways: 2, 3, 4, 5 are 4 short blocks away and the S train to the A and C trains is less than a block away. There are two bus lines on either corner; 5 minutes on the train to the Nets Barclays Center and Atlantic Avenue stop, where you can transfer free to the D, Q, B, W, N, R trains, which means access to the entire NYC area.
The B48 bus going through Clinton Hill to Williamsburg and Greenpoint is 1.5 blocks away from the flat going toward W-Burg (Classon Ave) and .5 block (Franklin Ave) away coming back home.
The award-winning Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Gardens and Prospect Park are all 6 to 8 blocks away. Downtown Manhattan is 12 - 15 minutes once you get onto the train.
Calendar is kept up to date for your convenience. We've packed this page with tons of information for you, so please go through and read it, then feel free to inquire about anything I have not covered in this description.
A day or two before you travel, we contact you to collect your check in information. We will meet you at the house to welcome you, introduce you to the neighborhood, turn over the keys, and answer any questions you have.
Since the majority of our guests arrive from Europe, we are happy to report that we're very flexible with late and very late check-ins. We always want to say YES to early check-in requests, and please understand that if there's already a guest in the residence, these requests would be based on availability. Just let us know what time works for you and we'll do our very best to accommodate your request.
Interaction with Guests
We pretty much leave you alone in order to make the space feel like yours, even if only briefly. We check in with you periodically to make sure you're doing well and enjoying your stay.
This little area is packed with restaurants, bars, event spaces, loads of public transportation, smoke shop, yogurt shop, coffee house, cheese monger, bakery, the list goes on.
It's a great walking neighborhood too. 1PM or 1AM, doesn't matter much. And central access to multiple trains to Manhattan, Queens, Bronx and other parts of the NYC Metro Area.
But the best part is that the house is on a quiet street not half a block from the dynamic entertainment, so you can retreat at any time to wind down and relax.
Street parking is free and available; there are 4 days of street cleaning (Monday - Friday except Wednesday) from 8:30AM - 10AM, so if you park your car on the side to be cleaned, DOT allows you to double park on the other side until just before 10 AM when you can move your car back to the other side. Also, it is entirely possible to arrive on a Monday and not have to move your car until Thursday morning, and we show you how to do this easy trick when you arrive :)
This is a classic brownstone with many original details. These are common-sense house rules; first rule is, have fun. Treat the place like it's your boss's father-in-law's house :)
- Please be considerate of the other residents in the building by keeping noise down to a considerate minimum.
- There is no smoking, and no pets allowed in the house or stairs. If you smoke, please do so outside and throw your cigarette butts into the street and not on the sidewalk, yard or stairs.
- NYC recycles, so please sort your garbage via the sticker on the fridge. Empty plastic/ glass / metal cans and bottles go into the recycling container.
- Please empty all liquid from bottles and food from plastic containers before throwing them into the recycling garbage containers.
- Please do not throw food into the sink. Empty food into the garbage before putting dishes into the sink.
- Please use quilts, comforters and bed coverlets only for covering on top of the sheets provided.
- Please empty food into the garbage before putting dishes into the sink. There is no garbage disposal, so food thrown into the sink will result in a clog.
- At the end of your stay, please hang wet towels and wash cloths on available towel racks
- No need to strip the beds or empty garbage (unless you're staying longer than 3 - 4 days); just leave everything and we'll take care of it for you
We had a perfect basis to visit NYC with our family from Berlin here in Park Place. Marissa is a great host. We felt wel taken care of with an absolute respect for our privacy. We can highly recommend this friendly clasdic Brooklyn based appartment.
House was as described confortable and pretty will go back again and I recommend 100%
We thought the apartment was a solid value and we plan on booking again next time we visit NYC. Crown Heights is a great neighborhood and the apartment was clean quiet and exceeded our expectations.
My family and I had a wonderful experience staying at this place. We were behind our schedule when we arrive. Marissa patiently waited for us and gave us a warm welcome. This place is neat and has plenty of space for five of us. During our stay, Marissa checked with us several times to see if we need anything. And she was quick in response whenever I asked anything. She also helped us make our reservation for car service when we leave for the airport and made sure the car was coming on time. We really enjoyed our stay here!
We loved our stay in your brownstone in Brooklyn! It was a great stop with lots of great eating areas close by, as well as a laundromat. The brownstone had everything we needed, including Wifi, shampoos, coffee maker, etc. Our hosts were very accommodating and let us drop our bags off early and meet them later to check in. All in all a fabulous experience and we would recommend anyone to stay here. We'd definitely stay here next time we are in NYC. It was so nice to escape Manhattan and relax in Brooklyn!
I've stayed in many airbnb rentals, and what makes this one exceptional is the service. Marissa was very welcoming and warm, and she checked in with us several times during our stay, asking how she might help or what we might need. The place itself was marvelous: the beds were very comfortable (we like firm beds), the bathtub divine (I'm a bath girl), the living room area very comfortable and good to hang out in after wandering many miles each day, and the kitchen cheery and perfectly equipped for all we need. The apartment is large, full of natural light and beautiful wood furnishings, and it's just a relaxing and classy place. The quiet block is beautiful and architecturally alluring, and it is very close to the Franklin Ave. subway, which got us everywhere we needed to go. There are close-by restaurants and grocery stores too. The place is also very safe (you get to unlock three doors), but then again, the neighborhood itself is very safe and welcoming. This area is also close to so many fascinating neighborhoods -- we walked to Williamsburg, Greepoint, Fort Greene, Prospect Park (the Botanical Gardens are really close) and other locales. I would definitely stay here again, and I'll be recommending this place to friends too.

About the Host, Chris
Transplanted to NYC many years ago, live a fairly laid back lifestyle. I love the city, though I have traveled all over the world (Africa, Europe, Caribbean,South America, Canada, Hong Kong, etc.) and met a ton of great and interesting people. I speak un pocito Espanol, a very tiny amount of French, a very few words of Russian and five or six German words.
I have hosted guests from many different countries. I love hosting and making visitors and guests feel comfortable and at-home. Whatever you need, just ask and I'll make my very best effort to say yes to you
