Great location for enjoying all that Portland has to offer! Walk to local pubs, coffee shops, movies, shops (walkscore 99). Super close to downtown. Easily get out to the mountains for hiking, skiing, wine tasting etc. Need something else, just ask!
Your room and adjoining full bath with tub has a comfy double bed, dresser, nightstand, closet, hot water kettle, tea, coffee, personal heater and A/C. It is located on the back of the house just off the dining room. The other bedrooms are upstairs, so yours is quiet and cozy overlooking the backyard. Our home has old growth fir floors and was built in 1911, so it is a true historic Portland home.
You will have access to the bedroom and its amenities.
If we are in town, we are available for whatever you need. We are easy going and can help you navigate Portland.
Our home is located on a block full of beautifully restored 100 year old homes in the safe and trendy Hawthorne neighborhood of southeast Portland, one of the most desirable areas in town (and one of the areas featured on Portlandia often).
You could easily spend weeks just exploring this area full of pubs, boutiques, vintage shops, restaurants-foodie paradise, food carts, parks, etc., and never have to get in a car or walk more than a mile (Division, Hawthorne, Belmont and East Burnside streets are all within walking distance). We are a short walk to the 100 year old Laurelhurst park full of old growth fir trees and Mt Tabor park situated on top of an extinct volcano overlooking the city.
Want to go out and boogie? Some top name musicians live in the neighborhood and play in the many spots around us, often for free.
Or, maybe you are coming for work and need to get downtown or to the conference center? Both are about 2 miles away and can be gotten to by transit, zipcar, car2go, walking, or if you want to bike, you can rent one close by! We are 2 blocks from the closest bus stop (SE 32nd and SE Belmont).
Close to public transit, zipcar, car2go, walking and biking are easy.
Check out the Tri-Met site for Bus/Train/Streetcar schedules. They have an app too.
To find out for what's happening in town, Portland Mercury and Travel Portland websites are great!
Clever Cycles is a close bike rental shop.

We had a great experience in Portland. Lyric and Meg are great hosts and were very accommodating. Great location. Bed could be slightly more comfortable but for the price and location we would definitely stay here again.
The room was lovely and the location could not have been any better. There are many fantastic restaurants and shops all within in walking distance. A great market and several bus lines are just a few short blocks away. It was a pleasure to make to make Lyric's beautiful home my base for six nights. I had everything I needed!
Lyric and Meg were incredible hosts. They pointed us to all the right places to ensure that we would get all that we could out of Portland's East side. The room was very comfortable and clean. Very convenient location. Walking distance to almost anything in the east side. I highly recommend this room to others.
Lyric and Meg are really good hosts. They are warm and welcoming, and can recommend great restaurants in the neighborhood. Their home is in an ideal location; we could walk everywhere and there was a lot to do and see. The room is spacious and clean; we appreciated having our own bathroom, and they even let us play their musical instruments!
Meg and Lyric were outstanding hosts! My girlfriend and I were visiting Portland as tourists and potential inhabitants and found staying with them to be beneficial on so many levels. Their home was super comfortable and in a great location as described. They were extremely friendly and easy-going(even enjoying some local brews with us after we had clearly enjoyed plenty ourselves). We highly recommend Meg and Lyric as hosts, they will give you a true airbnb experience!
A wonderful stay with great folks. Location can't be beat, walkable is the key thing. Nice comfy room and the private bath adjoining really nice too. Thanks Meg and Lyric!
I had a great stay with Lyric and Meg Hartley and their family. The bed was incredibly comfortable and I slept deeply. The room at the back of the house is very quiet and restful, and the private bath attached to the room was convenient. I was able to come and go easily. Lyric gave me some really good tips for good places to eat in the neighborhood, and the neighborhood is tops - you can walk a few blocks to a lot of great places.
I had a great stay in Portland at Lyric and Meg's place. They were very accommodating and gracious hosts. Lyric gave us great tips on where to go around the city, and not just breweries and pubs. Their place was conveniently located to bus stops and other neighborhoods. Even though we had a car, it was easy to walk to restaurants and shops. The room was clean and cozy and a great space to unwind after a long day of being a tourist.
This was my first time visiting Portland and my first time using Airbnb - Lyric and Meg proved the perfect hosts for both. Their home is ideally located for visitors who want to be able to easily access pretty much anywhere in the city but don't want to be swamped by people/traffic like you'd find downtown all the time. They're a few blocks from all the food, bars, coffee shops, and bookstores on Hawthorne and even closer to buses that will get you anywhere else you might need to go, but the house itself is on a beautiful street in a very quiet, peaceful neighborhood.
The room provided for guests was great! It was a good size, had a big, very comfortable bed, as well as dresser and closet space, its own private full bath with a shower with plenty of hot water, and an electric kettle, with tea, coffee, and cups provided as well. Wireless internet was fast and reliable.
Although I only saw Lyric and Meg a couple times because I was out of the house so much, when I did run into them they were really friendly and welcoming. If you need a comfortable, convenient, and relaxing place to stay in Portland, look no further.
My wife and I spent our first stay in Portland with Lyric and Meg and their family, what a treat! They are so respectful and very accommodating. The room was quiet and the bathroom clean. Lyric helped us out with any questions about where to go and what to see. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who wants the perfect Portland experience. The location is just fantastic.
