Our 700 sq foot duplex apartment is located 1 mile East of downtown, 3 blocks from Lady Bird Lake/Hike and Bike trail, and walking distance from bars and restaurants. Hardwood floors, full kitchen, shower and deep soaker tub! 2 Bikes included
This house is situated in the best of East Austin! Our home is a newly renovated shotgun style duplex. A shotgun house has one room leading into the next without hallways; ours is: bedroom/living room/kitchen/bathroom.
The City of Austin requires us to collect 15% hotel taxes, that amount is already included in the rental rate.
-The rental flat is one bedroom, with a comfy queen size bed, french doors and tall ceilings.
-The living room has a twin size pullout sofa bed, complete with bedding.
-Refinished Hardwoods through out
-Large windows in every room of the house
-Brand new bathroom features a deep soaker tub and a separate standing shower
-Full Kitchen. We have all the basics covered: french press, microwave, toaster, full size fridge and stove, cookware, silverware, dishes
-There is a small Television; HDMI ready with basic channels via antenna; equipped with a wifi enabled Blu Ray Player (YouTube, Netflix,)
-Bicycles included with helmets, lock and lights
-The rental flat is the West side of the house, so morning light is minimal, especially with the honeycomb blinds in the living room.
-Central heat and Air, ceiling fans in bedroom and living room
-Linens Provided; Bed Bug proof mattress cover is always in use for your peace of mind.

-access to our washer and dryer upon request

Interaction with Guests
I live in the East side of the duplex and can be reached any time via cell phone if I am not at home.
I often attend the music festivals in town and am happy to ride bikes with my guests to the events if the timing works out.
There are great attractions in the neighborhood if you walk a few blocks in any direction! It's a mere 3 blocks to the Austin hike and bike trail which circles around Lady Bird Lake and offers a simple safe route for walking or biking to areas south and west of Downtown.
-1.5 miles from downtown Convention Center (SXSW interactive) $6 cab
-1 mile east of downtown and that 1 mile is packed with SXSW events….this location is ideal….far enough away for quiet but close enough to walk/bike easily to any SXSW event. It is important to note that biking from our home is very easy...flat terrain, bike lanes galore....this is not usually the case with areas south and west of downtown.
-Ride/walk 4.5 miles on scenic hike & bike trail to Zilker Park for ACL (Austin City Limits) in October. The easy scenic bike ride is less than 30 minutes. If you prefer to take the roads the ride is 4 miles.
Zilker Park also feature Barton Springs Pool, Botanical Gardens, and Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum
-3.5 mile scenic bike ride on public hike and bike trail to Auditorium Shores (Fun Fun Fun Fest) (3 miles on roads)
-The Circuit of the America's race track which hosts the Formula One race is 12 miles east of our home. There is a shuttle to the F1 track that picks up at the Convention Center, a mere mile away from our house.
-Brand new restaurants less than a mile away: Monger's Seafood, Launderette (my new favorite!), Jacoby's Mercantile (sooo delicious) and Sawyer and Company (yummy Cajun Brunch)
-if you want a good sandwich late night and a cocktail you can walk or bike less than a mile to Gourmand's. Great patio there too.
-My two favorite taco spots are nearby and offer counter service: El Chilito on 7th and Tamale House between 5th and 6th.
-famous "Juan in a Million" Mexican Restaurant just a few blocks away (featured on Man v. Food) but I'm not a personal fan of this spot.
-Juice Bar and Coffee shop within a few blocks of the house. These are open from 8 am till 10 pm and the Coffee Shop also serves beer and wine. Juiceland/Friends and Neighbors
-Less than a mile: Bufalina Pizza, Capital City Bakery (featured on the cooking channel), Live Oak BBQ, John Mueller BBQ, Mettle, Cuvee Coffee, vegetarian/vegan food (Counter Culture, Mr. Natural)
-Austin-tatious East Side local restaurants a mile or two away: Justine's Brasserie (a real french bistro open late!) Hillside Farmacy, Takoba, 3 Little Pigs, Eastside Showroom, Qui (new restaurant of Paul Qui, winner of Top Chef Texas) and the famous La Barbeque Food trailer.
-HOPE Farmer's market is open on the East Side on weekends
-There are endless options downtown which is just a mile East
-There is also an HEB Grocery store on 7th street, just half a mile away.
-Half a mile to Drinks Bar, WeatherUp and Stay Gold...or a quarter mile to St. Roch Bar.
-Less than a mile to the East Side Bar Scene which offers live music and comfy patios. White Horse Saloon, Yellow Jacket Social Club, Rio Rita, Liberty Bar/Eastside King Trailer, Violet Crowne, Shangri La, Hotel Vegas, Gypsy Lounge, Eastside Showroom, The Volstead Lounge, and more!
-1 mile to the new Rainey Street district: Container Bar, Clive Bar, Bar 96, G'raj Mahal Cafe (Indian Food, BYOB), Icenhauer's, Bangers, the Black Heart
-1 mile to the world famous 6th street: The Alamo Ritz (movies and sing-a-longs), Easy Tiger (drafts, brats and games) The Jackalope (food and drinks), Casino el Camino (burgers and jukebox!), Beerland (music), Ginger Man (great beer selection!), Fado Irish Pub, La Condesa and countless more!
-South Congress Area is three miles away and is well-known for local Austin shopping and dining.
-3 blocks from lady bird lake (the locals call it Town Lake) Hike and Bike Trail
-2 blocks from Metz Park which offers a free public pool in the summer months and pick up games year round at the basketball, Bike Polo and Street Hockey Courts.
-Kayak, Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) and Canoe Rentals available just a few blocks away from the Expedition School located at Fiesta Gardens.
-Cross-Fit Gym 1/2 a mile away
-Private Entrance & Driveway which provides off street parking for up to three guest vehicles.(let us know in advance if you plan to have more than one vehicle on the premises...we'll need to swap driveways with you)
-We provide you with two bicycles, two locks, three helmets and one set of front/rear lights for night riding.
-Bicycle rentals are available from Cycleast (.3 miles) I suggest you reserve bikes in advance if you are traveling on a music festival weekend
-There are bus stops within a block and
Capitol Metro Bus Line #22 gets you to downtown.
-It is less than a mile to the Plaza Saltillo train station on 5th street. This station also offers rental bikes for getting around town.
-Pedicab and taxi cab companies both service the area, Yellow Cab and Austin Electric Cab Company are both based about a mile away. Uber and Uber Pool are available as well as Lyft.
-6 miles from the Austin International Airport. Cab ($20 and ten minutes) or Bus ($2 and an hour: capmetro planner site has detailed route info)

-We have a sweet dog who will either be in my side of the duplex or not at the house during your stay.
-We have an indoor cat who lives exclusively on my side of the duplex but the apartments have separate air and ventilation systems so there is no chance of cat dander in the rental apartment.
If you have a dog traveling with you please contact us to discuss before reserving the space, there is an additional nightly fee.
Rental requires a $225 deposit, which will be refunded in full, upon final exit of premises, as long as there is no damage or excessively messy condition of unit and/or property caused by renters or their guests. This deposit can be held in escrow through Pay Pal, if preferred. Discounts apply for stays of 1 week or more. Please inquire for pricing.
Two night stay required for reservation any time.
There is a three night minimum stay for event weekends: ACL, FFF, F1, SXSW, etc.

Please read the information sheet you will find on the clipboard upon arrival. It goes over a few requests regarding being energy efficient with climate control and the use of the front porch and yard.
Nice light from the South and West and a great front porch swing to enjoy the Austin weather.
What a great spot! I loved the neighborhood. Walking distance to HEB, RVRB records, Rio Rita's, vintage shops, juice land, great Mexican food and counterculture vegan restaurant. Interesting street art and vegetation. Close enough to walk downtown.
The apartment was spotless! All of the basic necessities and thoughtful touches. The decor is super cute. It has enough decor to not feel stark but not overwhelming where you feel like you are in somebody's private home.
Best parts were the deep insulated tub. I took baths twice a day! The bed was very comfortable. The porch was a great spot to drink wine and enjoy the scenery of east austin.
Jamie was a pleasure to communicate with. She was very accommodating and friendly. I met Aja too and she was great as well.
My only complaint was that I didn't meet their doggie! He was on holiday!
A great place and great host! Everything was as described with the house. Perfect for the two of us and could easily accommodate one or two more. The neighborhood is just what we were looking for with restaurants and the trail so close by. Hint: the Laundrette will blow your mind!
Jaimie was super responsive and attentive. The bikes worked great to get around town. Cab rides to downtown or S. Congress were around $10-15. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the stay.
Jaime and Aja were very accommodating. The house was great, clean and fit our needs perfectly. Location was also excellent. I'll definitely stay here again.
I had a fantastic stay. I met Jamie on my arrival and she was more than happy to orientate me to the neighbourhood. The apartment was really comfortable, and the neighbourhood was fantastic. A pleasant 30 minute stroll to downtown, with lots of great places to grab food and coffee on the way. Yes, the traffic on the main road gets a little loud, but the white noise machine did the trick, so problems there.
Jamie and Aja were fantastic hosts, there was a plan for some friends to stay with me and they went out of their way to accommodate this.
I'm little reticent to give these guys such good review, since I don't want to lose my chance to book it for SXSW next year... Thanks again for a great AIR BnB experience.
The place was great. Clean and convenient. The bikes were super helpful for getting around.
My friend and I were in town for a work conference at the Convention Center but didn't want to be stuck in a hotel downtown. Jamie and Aja's place was the perfect fit for us. The apartment was immaculately clean and Jamie was very responsive the entire time and/or always checking in to make sure we were comfortable. It's about a 25-30 min easy walk downtown, and we also didn't have any trouble finding cabs/Uber to take us further or home at night. We fell in love with the JuiceLand across the street and some of the funky bars further down on E. 6th (about a 20-min walk). Would definitely stay again on another trip to Austin.

I'm a casual host. I like to utilize a key lock box so my tenants can come and go as they please. Sometimes we meet one another, sometimes not. But I'm always available to answer questions, fulfill requests and offer suggestions.
I love the outdoors and staying active in this wonderful city. I also really enjoy sharing it with others.
One thing I love about Austin is all of the local restaurants...I love food and there is an unending number of options for great food in this city.
