Remodeling has just been completed, with a new kitchen and baths, featuring all stainless steel appliances, granite counters on new cabinetry, travertine and marble floors throughout, and new plush carpeting in the loft sleeping area.
Soaring ceilings and walls of windows make this spacious 1 bedroom with loft unit feel even larger (about 1300 sq ft). Located on the third and top floor of The Cliffs, you will be treated to breathtaking views of the lush Princeville tropical landscape and long ocean views. From the living room lanai, you can enjoy dining alfresco and even catch a glimpse of passing ships. The separate lanai (balcony) opening off of the master bedroom faces the mountains. Wake up every morning to the changing shades of green as the sun, clouds, and sometimes warm rain move over them.
To make your stay more enjoyable, the condo has been stocked with beach towels, beach chairs, cooler, big sportbrella, snorkel gears, beach toys, books, movies, games and more.
For parents with babies we provide 'pack and play' and high chair.
Within the Cliffs resort there is a putting green, tennis courts, children's play center with state of the art playground equipment, a shuffleboard court, adult and children tennis and volleyball court, swimming pool and two spas. Also available are gas BBQ, great whale watching spots, outside cooking gazebo right on the cliffs, daily activities and an activity coordinator and bike rentals.
The resort itself was well maintained with everything you would expect. The rock pools, waterfalls, spas, exercise room. A morning reception with information on activities on the island. In addition, they have an open air library and seating area to relax in. There were so many things to do close by, snorkeling, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding. I really enjoyed walking the beach in Hanalei bay. It was beautiful. We walked from there to Kalypso restaurant for appetizers and drinks. This location worked for seeing the entire island. We drove to Waimea Canyon in 2 hours. Go early in the morning, as it gets foggy after noon and you can't see anything.
The condo is really well equipped just beyond what you would expect. The location in Princeville is ideal as you have groceries and just breathtaking beaches within a 5 minute drive. The location is also perfect for some great hikes around the Napali coast. It was great staying at this condo however we were a bit unlucky as some renovation works were taking place in the surrounding units, but it really looked like the work is almost finished so better luck next time.
Marcelo's condo at the Cliffs in Princeville was just perfect for our week. It was spacious, beautifully furnished and decorated, great appliances including an induction stovetop, stocked with dishes and utensils, nearby outdoor grills. The king bed downstairs and the 2 queen beds in the loft were very comfortable. Marcelo and Val made us feel welcome with emails before, and lots of recreation equipment. The 2 lanai's were well used and we enjoyed long dinner conversations many nights with the sound of the ocean as background. We appreciated the staff at the reception area, their activities on site, and help arranging outside activities. We enjoyed sitting in Adirondack chairs along the cliffs to watch the ocean. There was also a convenient shuttle that ran to Hanalei, and a grocery store nearby.
I stayed here with my mother over Christmas/New Years. We both had a great time and would stay at Marcelo's place again. Princeville feels nice and secluded from the busy tourist areas like Kapaa and Poipu. The one drawback is that there is not a lot within walking distance other than a golf course. I had to drive to surf every day, but very good breaks are within 15 minutes in a car. You can walk to the St. Regis hotel and access the Hanalei bowl from there, but it was huge the day I tried so I did not paddle out.
The place is spacious, clean, and quiet. The closet is stocked with all of the beach gear you will need (towels, chairs, snorkel mask, fins, etc.). The kitchen is also stocked with all the kitchenware you need to provide your own meals, which is really helpful. They even left a couple of coffee pouches with local coffee to get you started if you arrive before hitting the grocery store. Salt and pepper are also stocked in the cabinets. Little things like this make cooking on vacation so much easier!
The complex has a number of facilities we used. There's a gym and pool area. The gym is very small and probably only fits 3 people at the same time. The pool area has a 4ft deep pool (not big enough for laps), two jacuzzis, and some smaller wading areas with waterfalls. We did not use the tennis or shuffleboard courts, but they are there too. The reception office also has a library of DVDs for the days that get rained out.
The weather on Kauai is predictably unpredictable. It is frequently cloudy for periods in the day in pockets of the island. You can drive for a hour from rain and hit blue skies. Sometimes it rains while the sun is shining. It's never cold and I was in board shorts the whole trip so the rain doesn't really bother me. Bring a rain jacket or poncho.
The neighborhood is very upscale and close to the golf course, the St. Regis, beaches, the shopping center. Hana Lei is only about 10 minutes away.
The unit is very clean, nicely laid out, and since it’s on the third (top)floor the high ceilings make it seem very spacious. There is a line of windows across the top of the loft which allows the breeze to flow through, a good thing as there is no air conditioning.
The kitchen is nicely done with everything one might need to cook a meal.
The 2 balconies are a nice feature. One side is perfect for morning breakfast, the other for evening drinks and dinner with a nice view over the “jungle,” and a bit of ocean to the left.
The pool area is a bit small for the size of the development, but the hot tubs are nice as are the work out area and the studio used for yoga, etc.
Lots of books to borrow for beach reading as well.
Beautiful condo on the cliffs in princeville. Very spacious. A lot more spacious than I thought from the pictures. The condo is really close to a grocery store if you want to make some if your own meals. My only semi con is that it's not walking distance from a beach. The closest beach is about a 10min drive which wasn't a bad thing because the drive is beautiful, but it would have been nice to not have to drive to get everywhere. All in all it was an awesome place! I would totally stay there again
Excellent hosts! The location (Princeville) is fantastic and probably has the most beautiful views I have ever seen. The mountains surrounding the valley are incredible! The condo was very clean and updated. The Cliffs property is excellent and quiet. We will hopefully return to Kauai again and we would happily stay here again.
