Come and stay in our beautiful explorer's room in the house of a real explorer! This Victorian centrally located house has been lovingly restored and is full of art, light and artifacts collected by the owner's expeditions around the world and she is ready to welcome you.
Your room is the explorer's room! The wall size map will help you to plan your own inspired travels trotting the globe and you can access maps, books and beautiful objects from around the world. You can enjoy sleeping in a new double bed with crisp cotton sheets and a down duvet with your own flat screen TV, hi speed wifi and ipod dock.
You will share the Turkish tiled bathroom which has a bath and shower. Downstairs is another toilet and a Victorian style dining room where you can enjoy a breakfast of cereal, various breads and preserves or if the sun is shining you can take your breakfast outside in the pretty garden.
Jacki can talk to you about her expeditions worldwide and filming documentaries in some of the toughest terrain. She can direct you towards the best places to explore in Bristol with the harbour, Tobacco Factory Theater, cafe bar culture of North Street and all the major sights of Bristol within walking distance.
North Street is great, even Mary Portas has spotted it! There is the Tobacco Factory Theatre, many cafe bars that spill out into the street, The Comedy Box and a deli, artisan bread shop and an organic food market on a Sunday.
There is a good bus service but the city centre and the University are easily walkable.
Carnivores are welcome but it is a veggie kitchen so please be aware of that: thanks!
Jacki is a lovely friendly host. We stayed 2 nights here whilst working in the area. She cooked us a lovely meal and we enjoyed a healthy breakfast. The house and room is warm and comfortable and we would hope to return. Thankyou
We had a great stay at Jacki's house. The room was lovely - welcoming, homely and it had tea and coffee making facilities too. Jacki's house is amazing and we were very comfortable there, and enjoyed chatting to her too. She recommended a great restaurant which made our day.
Staying at Jacki's was wonderful! She was a kind and gracious host. I definitely recommend her.
Her home was in a fun area just 2 blocks off North Street. The house is charming and she made me feel very at home. She noticed that I was chilly and had a cough so she turned up the heat each evening for me. The room had plenty of space for me and my 3 large bags! The bed duvet was cozy and everything was clean and orderly. There were more outlets in my bedroom than I currently have in my hotel room. No complaints here!
P. S.- Jacki is an intelligent and intriguing woman if you have the pleasure of spending some time speaking with her. Highly recommended.
A lovely room in a lovely house that was close and convenient to the city centre. Jackie was a friendly and welcoming host, who offered suggestions on things to see and do in Bristol.
Good location. Seemed to me like a new venture for Jacki. Smallish double Room with small double bed, hanging rail (no wardrobe). Basic. Odd, for example, kettle provided but nowhere to plug it in except on the floor in trailing electric socket. Bedside lamp flickered on and off - had to get under bed to push the fitting back together.
4 adults (including me) sharing this smallish house made it seem busy somehow. Under stairs loo is for 'weeing' only otherwise one bathroom.
On balance, at £35.00, I thought overpriced. Nearer £20/25 max in my view.
Was a pleasure staying at jacki's! was my first time using air b&b after many recommendations, and was very impressed. Room was very comfortable & was pleasantly surprised by coffee and breakfast int he morning! She also took us into town and showed us around. thank you jacki!!
