The Space

THE HOUSE:
This three bedroom is home to your host and her son. You'll have access to the lagoon from your French doors, with paddleboard and kayak rentals available and the large, private backyard comes equipped with a barbecue and outdoor seating.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD:
- WALK TO DOWNTOWN two blocks away. There is a casual restaurant there called Blue Barn that's great for lunch. It's a very healthy menu with kale salads and sandwiches on locally made french bread. There's a patio for outside dining too. The shopping center also has other restaurants like PF Changs, Pacific Catch and Calif. Pizza Kitchen. There's an REI, Barnes and Noble and other shops.
- BIKE PATH: You might like a walk along the bike path heading towards downtown Larkspur. Along the way, you'll pass Corte Madera Park, and ducks in the creek. Downtown Larkspur has some nicer restaurants like Picco, The Tavern and Left Bank. The Tavern has one of the best gourmet burgers I know of, not to (email hidden) if you want to meet someone for a drink. It's beautifully set in the Redwoods. The bike path also heads the other direction if you're looking for a place to walk or run. It's flat and could go on for miles if you map it out first.
- THE LARK is an old movie theater in downtown Larkspur, The Lark. It's an old movie house that plays current movies as well as brings back some old titles. They serve wine and gourmet hot dogs if you show up hungry or thirsty!
- MILL VALLEY: If you hop on the freeway (less than a half mile from the house) and take the first exit going south you'll end up in Mill Valley. Mill Valley has access to all the great hiking and Muir Woods. Follow Shoreline up to the Mountain Home Inn, park, and hop on the Matt Davis trail for a light/intermediate hike up Mt. Tam. Other trail heads nearby will include waterfalls. Another option is to start off Tennessee Valley Road and hike out to the beach. It's a flat trail road and has a great reward at the end. You could even bike it.

Guest Access

Guests have access to their own private bedroom and full bathroom. The bedroom is equipped with a small refrigerator, a microwave, a coffee pot and a hot water pot.

Guests are encouraged to take advantage of the spacious backyard that has a large grassy area and a concrete patio with outdoor seating. There is also a dock on the lagoon which is ideal for late afternoon tea or a glass of wine and a good book or good conversation!

Interaction with Guests

I've enjoyed meeting my visitors who come from all over, but I tend to stay out of the way so as to respect personal space. Every visitor seems to be different, so I try to respect individual preferences.

The Neighborhood

My home is so accessible to so much! The bike path is right next to the driveway, the Town Center is a few blocks away for shopping: pharmacy, groceries, sporting goods, clothing, etc. The freeway is also a few blocks away. There is also a movie theater and several restaurants within short walking distance. It's a great place to be stuck without a car.

Getting around

There is a bus stop less than a mile from the house. The Larkspur Ferry terminal is also about a 5-10 minute drive.

  • Lindsay let me stay at her place even though she wasn't there. That expression of trust wasn't wasted on me. The place was very restful and I appreciated that. I even got an hour this trip to sit in back and enjoy looking at the lagoon.

  • Lindsay has a lovely home in a residential area. Getting breakfast and groceries in the shopping center nearby was easy. Her room was very comfortable and cozy, my son felt good there, it was a nice haven between San Francisco and North California. Lindsay was so discrete that we almost thought we were alone in the house. Thanks to her dogs Stella and Luna for the lively company. I would stay here again and recommend to anyone looking (email hidden) in the suburbs.

  • My son and I had a quick overnight at Lindsay's lovely home. Although we didn't have much face-to-face interaction due to the timing of our trip, Lindsay was very responsive with communications and friendly. The bed was super comfy, and we enjoyed using the path that runs next to her house for a workout. We would definitely stay again if in the area!

    Response from Lindsay:

Thank you, Kim. I'm so sorry about the toaster oven, refrigerator and hairs in the bathtub! I really try to make sure things are pristine before a new guest arrives. so I'm sorry you were one to catch it on a day I obviously overlooked some things. And also thank you for the word about the dogs. I have changed their space for when I'm not home because I agree that it is not cool to have barking dogs when you're trying to sleep in!
I hope your son's race went well. Thanks again, Lindsay

  • It was a pleasure to stay with Lindsay. The room was very spacious. It had a lot of amenities inside the room. There were good directions and notes and a lot of attention to small details which I liked. I also liked going to the back yard and enjoying looking at the water. I also got a lot of privacy. I felt it was safe (when I first arrived I could hear dogs bark), I was a little apprehensive, but they sure keep the place safe and they are such small and cute creatures, their bark is bigger than their size. Also, there is a path close to her house that I could walk around. It felt like a nice retreat.

  • Great place! I had dinner & breakfast at the lagoon. Lindsay is delightful.

  • My husband and I stayed in Lindsay's home for a couple nights for a wedding we attended. Her space is super cute and comfortable. Both her, her son and puppies were lovely hosts and accommodated us very nicely!

  • My daughter and I stayed with Lindsay for 1 night to spend some time in Marin and to go into San Francisco the 2nd day. Her accommodations are very comfy and clean, the little lagoon very peaceful and communication with Lindsay easy and up to date. A great place and location for a bay area stay!

  • Another delightful stay at Lagoon Side. Very practical and quiet place to stay. This lodging is surrounded by conditions that support and expand a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. Quiet and simple indoors, while the outdoors is accessible just by stepping out into the back yard or walking along the multitude of foot and bike paths winding through the neighborhoods. Can't ask for better than that.

  • Lindsay's place is in a great location so is a bargain for the area. House was nice and clean, very comfortable. Easy to come and go on our own.

    Response from Lindsay:

Thank you! I make sure I go out of my way now to leave the front door light on when I know a guest is staying. You're right, it gets very dark in front. Thanks for thinking of that!

About
I live in Corte Madera, and love hosting guests from Airbnb! I am a Marin County native and have lived all over Marin, but find the lagoon side of Corte Madera my favorite so far. The weather, the sense of community and the easy access to San Francisco are some favorite features. I work in Mill Valley as a teacher for English language learners in elementary school and middle school. When I'm not teaching, I'm out biking with my 12 year old son, hiking the fabulous trails of Mt. Tam or working out in a spin class or ballet barre class. In addition to my son, I'm also the proud mother to Stella, a shih tzu that turns just about anyone into a lover of small dogs. Her calm, affectionate personality win the hearts of many on the bike paths nearby!
