This lovely master bedroom has views of the nearby lagoon and a private master bathroom.
This three bedroom is home to your host and her son. You'll have access to the lagoon from your French doors, with paddleboard and kayak rentals available and the large, private backyard comes equipped with a barbecue and outdoor seating.
- WALK TO DOWNTOWN two blocks away. There is a casual restaurant there called Blue Barn that's great for lunch. It's a very healthy menu with kale salads and sandwiches on locally made french bread. There's a patio for outside dining too. The shopping center also has other restaurants like PF Changs, Pacific Catch, Calif. Pizza Kitchen, and much more. I have a long list of restaurant options from casual to formal for you in your room.
- BIKE PATH: You might like a walk along the bike path heading towards downtown Larkspur. Along the way, you'll pass Corte Madera Park, and ducks in the creek. Downtown Larkspur has some nicer restaurants like Picco, The Tavern and Left Bank. The Tavern has one of the best gourmet burgers I know of, not to (email hidden) if you want to meet someone for a drink. It's beautifully set in the Redwoods. The bike path also heads the other direction if you're looking for a place to walk or run. It's flat and could go on for miles if you map it out first.
- THE LARK is an old movie theater in downtown Larkspur, The Lark. It's an old movie house that plays current movies as well as brings back some old titles. They serve wine and gourmet hot dogs if you show up hungry or thirsty!
- MILL VALLEY: If you hop on the freeway (less than a half mile from the house) and take the first exit going south you'll end up in Mill Valley. Mill Valley has access to all the great hiking and Muir Woods. Follow Shoreline up to the Mountain Home Inn, park, and hop on the Matt Davis trail for a light/intermediate hike up Mt. Tam. Other trail heads nearby will include waterfalls. Another option is to start off Tennessee Valley Road and hike out to the beach. It's a flat trail road and has a great reward at the end. You could even bike it.
Guests have access to their own private bedroom and full bathroom. The bedroom is equipped with a small refrigerator, a toaster oven, a coffee pot and a hot water pot, coffee, teas and sweeteners.
Guests are encouraged to take advantage of the spacious backyard that has a large grassy area and a concrete patio with outdoor seating. There is also a dock on the lagoon which is ideal for late afternoon tea or a glass of wine and a good book or good conversation!
Interaction with Guests
I've enjoyed meeting my visitors who come from all over, but I tend to stay out of the way so as to respect personal space. Every visitor seems to be different, so I try to respect individual preferences.
My home is so accessible to so much! The bike path is right next to the driveway, the Town Center and Village Shopping Center are a few blocks away for shopping, pharmacy, groceries, sporting goods, clothing, and lots of dining options. There is a great park nearby for kids 0-12 which also have creeks for feeding ducks and large grassy areas.
The freeway is also a few blocks away. There is also a movie theater and several restaurants within short walking distance. It's a great place to be stuck without a car.
Parking right in front of the house or on the left side of the driveway is available.
We are a 45 minute drive from SFO and also about 45 minutes from OAK airport. Marin Airporter is the best way to travel from SFO to Marin, Larkspur stop. It's a 5 min taxi ride from Larkspur.
There is a bus stop less than a mile from the house. The Larkspur Ferry terminal is also about a 5-10 minute drive.
Other Things to Note
Again, this is a great spot for anyone who has limited or no transportation. There are so many options within walking distance. And if all else fails, there are local meal delivery services so you can dine in the back yard on a nice day and watch the sun rise or set!
No smokers please. Also note that I have small dogs, Stella and Piper. They and non-allergenic. They're gentle and loving, but may sniff and bark at first as they try to get to know you. Feel free to either ignore them or pick them up and snuggle :) They stay in the kitchen area behind a gate, so you can be in charge of any contact upon arrival.
I welcome your pets too, as long as they are house trained and there's a plan for their care while they are not with you. Thank you :)
Lindsay did a great job in making my very late arrival easy and pleasant. The bed was very comfortable and had a very good night of sleep.
The house is lovely and the location is ideal for visiting Golden Gate Park, Mount Tamalpais, and SF. We really enjoyed the mattress as we were able to have two night of great rest.
Lindsay has thought of everything! I felt incredibly accommodated. She and her son are very hospitable, and they were able to respond to my request within mere hours of my check in time. She really helped me when I was in a bind and provided a wonderful experience. 5 stars!
Another great stay. The trip was tiring, but at least I knew I had a clean and quiet place to stay at night.
Stayed at Lindsay's at the end of March. If you are coming from a winter environment, this is paradise. There is a trail along a canal fifty yards from her house. There were flowers and color everywhere. It is part of of an eight mile trail system that delights the senses - eucalyptus trees, jasmine, mountain views, ducks, canals, redwood trees and more. Lindsay's is a great place to relax. You can sit on the dock and soak up the sunshine or walk/run the trails if you are more active. Check out the map on (website hidden).
This location is a dream! It is within walking distance of shopping, hiking and restaurants. The location is minutes from San Francisco, Muir Woods/Beach, Sausalito and Stinson Beach. Not only is Lindsay warm and welcoming; she is organized, artistic, immaculate and added little touches to this stay that put a smile on my face. The bed and room are very comfortable with a beautiful serene view of the Lagoon and garden. Your privacy will be respected. I hope to stay with Lindsay on my next visit to the area. Thank you guys for a great experience!
Absolutely wonderful experience! This simple, bright, uncluttered, immaculate home is in a safe, happy neighborhood just off hwy 101 and is just two blocks from a Safeway, restaurants and gas station. Even though there is generally a lot of traffic in the bay area Lindsays place was not congested at all...easy and frustration free. This was a perfect layover for me to catch an early morning flight out of SFO. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in besides my own, including high end motels. Coffee maker in your room, your own clean private bathroom. It is just great.
I live in Corte Madera, and love hosting guests from Airbnb! I am a Marin County native and have lived all over Marin, but find the lagoon side of Corte Madera my favorite so far. The weather, the sense of community and the easy access to San Francisco are some favorite features. I work in Mill Valley as a teacher for English language learners in elementary school and middle school. When I'm not teaching, I'm out biking with my 12 year old son, hiking the fabulous trails of Mt. Tam or working out in a spin class or ballet barre class. In addition to my son, I'm also the proud mother to Stella, a shih tzu that turns just about anyone into a lover of small dogs. Her calm, affectionate personality win the hearts of many on the bike paths nearby!
