  • The room was sweet and tiny, The Rest of The house clean. The caretakers, especially emily were super-friendly and helpfull.
The Place itsself is far off hilo and The Next beach to swim ins clearly not in Walking distance. You absolutely Need a Car.
The Garden is in a sad condition, needs some gardening seriously

  • Loren and, after he left for San Francisco, his caretaker Steven were very friendly and willing to help. There's lots of fruit to share that grows in the backyard and the animals in the surrounding area provide a unique ambiance (bring or ask for earplugs for sleeping at night). Many other guests came and went during the month I stayed. All of them were pleasant and respectful. The location is good if you have a car as the bus runs infrequently, but there's a beach a short walk down the street. The internet connection was good. Overall, I enjoyed my stay.

  • I stayed in the Jungle Room the first week of my trip. There is a description there. Good privacy and water sounds.
I went on to 2 other parts of the island.
Loren and Vito let me change my room to the Lanai Room for the last few days of my trip. It was much easier to reach my car and get ready for departure from the main house.
The Lanai Room is a well organized room off the common lanai. It can be busy in the main house at times. I really enjoyed the people.
Loren was away and Vito was in charge. I could not have asked for a more gracious host. I am sure from talking with Loren that he takes the same approach to his guests.
I hope all of you have a wonderful island experience.

  • I stayed here a month, it was very nice. The people were great, it's a great location and a very nice house. The room was modest but complete. It was a great balance of social activity and privacy, as far as atmosphere. Nice place to relax.
If you arrive at night, consider an airport pick up. There is virtually zero public lighting and the price of electricity in Hawaii keeps even porch lights off in Papaikou--it's pitch dark in the area, Even though the directions to the place are fine; at night, for a stranger, you might as well be on the moon. House numbering is rare and numerous buildings can share the same numbers and have no logical order--if you can even tell a garage from a house. It's a complex of dead ends, circles and cul-de-sacs in Papaikou. I had an experienced taxi driver with a GPS,: couldn't find the Sweet Spot in the late evening. In the daylight hours, the directions are very clear, landmarks quite obvious.
