  • Elvira's "cocoon" cave studio is one of the most incredible places we have ever stayed . The view from the terrace will stay with you forever and it's prime location only 10 minutes walk from town makes it ideal for a stay in Santorini. The studio itself is very small but cosy and warm and Elvira was brilliant host. 5 stars!

  • Elvira is a welcoming and friendly host. Her "cave" is wonderfully unique, cozy, and clean. We really enjoyed our stay and the view from the shared balcony. We were there for 2 nights.

  • We stayed in the Cocoon for 2 nights and the place was exactly as described. Location was great, 10 minute walk to Fira and with enough dining options close by. If you want a basic "cave" experience at a lower price, this is an option, but it is very cozy (small). The balcony is spacious with 3 tables and yes an amazing caldera view (balcony is shared with other units). Watched the sunset from there one night and we were not disappointed. Only downside was the trip down and up the stairs from the main road. Be ready for a good workout if you have some heavy luggage.

  • The attention to detail such as the welcoming note on the gate and clear directions were most delightful and helpful!
Magical location as expected, tucked away from majority of tourist traffic, which was plentiful!
We lost our luggage in Istanbul due to cancellation of flight and Elvira was so helpful in assisting us to track our luggage. She lives in close proximity and her responses to our email requests were prompt and very much appreciated.

  • Elvira,

Was awesome. She gave the best instructions on how to get to her place.

The place overall is smaller than I thought, and you can not get wi-fi in the room. However, it doesn't take away from how amazing the location of her place is.

    Best,
    Chi

  • My partner and I had such an amazing time at Elvira's studio in Santorini. The studio was really cosy and unique, it felt like a traditional Santorian home! Every night we would sit outside the studio with a bottle of local wine that Elvira provided and enjoy the spectacular sunsets. So glad we stayed here!
The studio was clean and quite at night. It is a 10 minute to the main town of Thira. The walk goes along the coastline and has breathtaking views, so we were very happy to do the walk each day.
Elvira is really wonderful and very generous. She was very easy to contact and she helped me recover my wallet which I left on a bus ;) Thank you Elvira! And the wine she left for us was like no other wine we had tasted before, it was amazing!
So we were very sorry when we had to leave the Cocoon Cave. I would definitely recommend staying here ;)

  • The view from this apartment cannot be beat-- it is absolutely gorgeous, especially at sunset. It can be a fairly long walk into the main town, Fira (20 minutes along the caldera path, and uphill all the way back) but it has beautiful views to make up for it. The apartment itself is nice and cozy, good if you don't mind close quarters. There's a tiny stove and a fridge; the complimentary wine/juice was greatly appreciated. Elvira was also very sweet and helpful.

Unfortunately, the "cocoon" apartment is not as deeply set into the side of the hill as the other two, and it doesn't have air conditioning; as such, it gets fairly hot during the day (probably 85) and stays almost as warm at night (around 80). There is a fan, which helps, but I still had a difficult time sleeping in the heat. I had opportunity to step into another of the apartments and as they're deeper into the cliff, it doesn't appear that they have the same problem, so if the heat bothers you I'd go with those instead.

  • The view of the Caldera from the porch is spectacular! This apartment will provide you with the experience of living in a Santorini "cave home". Very cozy and functional and extremely conveniently located.

Our host ensured that we had all of the necessary information to find the apartment and "checking-in" was not an issue.

We enjoyed our stay here very much.

  • It's hard to beat the view at this flat! The property was clean, had everything we needed and is a short walk to many shops and groceries. Elvira was very helpful. I would recommend staying here.

  • We had a great experience staying at Elvira's cocoon studio. Compact but definitely an interesting place to stay with wonderful sunset views from her doorway/ terrace. Elvira was friendly and accommodating to all our needs - even providing a lovely carafe of wine to enjoy the sunset. The wifi works perfectly from the terrace though naturally the signal is weaker in the cave itself:)

Advice on the ports - the apartment is in firastefani - the town next to fira/thira - the capital. Most of the nightlife, restaurants etc stretch between the two though expect plenty of steps. We got a taxi from the port from one of the travel companies costing 26 euro - but on the return paid 15 from a rank. My advice - try a taxi company directly or haggle!

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” - Steve Jobs
