A 1925 Volcanic stone built house, offers a glimpse of the traditional ways of the Azorean people. Located among creeks, waterfalls and reserved beaches it´s a perfect stay for summer times. A car is a must in order to go to the nearest City.
Rustic house with the charm of old times. Place where I used to spend since a young age, my summer holidays. With a wide view over the river creek and the ocean, surrounded by beaches and waterfalls, this is an ideal house for those wanting some peace and comfort, near green fields and black sand beaches.
Vila Franca is only a few minutes by car, there you can find all kinds of markets, restaurants, etc. You can also pick some adventures like whale watching, scuba diving, hiking or bike tours in Vila Franca Marina. Surf is also good in some spots near the house.
If you prefer a more personal experience we can personally arrange typical meals made in the house's wood fired oven, or guide you thru some adventures, like surfing, spearfishing or go hiking.
If you would like to see a presentation of the house surroundings you can explore for "Rustic house in Azores" in the Prezi website.
Guests have access to all features of the house.
The house has two close by neighbors, and some other down at "Lugar da Praia" place. All humble and helpful at any time. Don't hesitate to make friends, they sure can make your staying turn into unforgettable times.
Great ambience and great experience in a rustic (website hidden) organized everything for a graceful arrival and stay.
Thanks a lot, I definitely recommend it.
We absolutely enjoyed our stay! My parents from Germany and my daughter and myself from the US met up at this location to experience the Azores for the first time. Jorge went out of his way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. He is hospitable, knowledgeable, and helpful.
The house is perfectly located, with a great view, proximity to the beach. It is rustic, the amenities are not luxurious, but the house offers everything one needs. We loved building fires in the oven in the evenings for warmth and coziness.
Since we spent Mid-October at Lugar da Praia, we noticed the season changing from late summer to true fall conditions with strong winds and increasing rainfall and were fascinated by the quick changes between rainfall and sunshine which made for many rainbows.
We would definitely come back, even though I would likely prefer this house during a more reliable dry and warm season - next time I will aim for May or September. The only drawback was caused by some rain water making its way in when the rainfall was very heavy - something Jorge was aware of and is in the process of addressing.
Merci Jorge.
Jorge was a generous and accessible host. He communicated well, responded promptly to our messages, and remained available throughout our stay. His rustic house, located in the small hamlet of Lugar da Praia, is as advertised and includes all the basics needed for a comfortable stay -- yoga mats included! Upon arrival, Jorge had generously provided a taste of traditional foods -- fruits, baked goods, and some excellent locally produced cheese. What a wonderful treat and a great introduction to the Azorean way! The property is well located, and a perfect jumping off point for exploring all corners of São Miguel island. At night, we were treated to the unique summer-time call of the cagarros bird. In the morning we awoke to the call of village dogs and roosters. The light sleeper should be advised that the only road into / out of the hamlet runs adjacent to the house, and is well travelled. Thanks again to Jorge for a simple and authentic experience; a great location; and genuine hospitality!
Jorge was an excellent host. He made everything easy for us. The property is very well located for exploring the island and has great restaurants and beaches close by. It might seem small, but it served our family of four very well. I would certainly recommend it.
cosy little house in a very quiet surrounding, the view is outstanding. Private beach nearby. At night you can hear cagarros - an amazing experience! would definetly recommend this place to friends and Family, I am already planning to go back there one day!
