Heather was very flexible with our check in and out times. There was great communication with our host before our stay and a very friendly welcome when we arrived. From the house it’s a short walk to the very cool Belmont Street and the house is also nicely located to make the short drive to anywhere you want to explore around town. The bedroom was nice and quite and you also have the entire basement to yourself making it feel very private.
Heather was extremely accommodating, and the house is gorgeous inside and out. The neighborhood is very clean and visually pleasing to wake up to, and the Belmont Street crawl is about a five minute walk. A short walk north is the beautiful Laurelhurst Park. Lush, green, and open, it's a beautiful place to go relax during the day.
Heather made sure we were as comfortable as possible at all times, and made our checking in and out very convenient. The only bad thing about the trip is that we weren't able to stay longer!
I highly recommend Heather's rental, and if we ever visit Portland again she should expect to be hearing from us!
I'd like to say that Heather's spot was perfect for our needs! Cozy, quiet, beautiful, and in a beautiful part of Portland. My partner and I needed a place to stay last minute, Heather responded to us promptly and provided us exactly what we needed. We have much gratitude for her kindness, and ability to welcome us with such short notice.
Great stay overall...although it was very short. The space is awesome and very clean and well supplied. The location is excellent for walking around SE Portland. Heather and Colin where great hosts and communicated well before and during our stay! Would stay again for sure!
We only stayed in Portland for one night and wish we could have stayed longer! Heather's basement suite was spacious, comfortable, private and very cool (you have the entire lower level to yourself) complete with a bathroom, kitchenette and TV.
Heather was friendly and gave us tones of great tips for things to do in Portland - definitely check out her recommendations.
Overall this was a fantastic airbnb experience and highly recommend staying here when in Portland.
We had a wonderful experience at Heather's house. I have been trying to think of something that I did not like about staying there but I cannot.
I especially enjoyed the huge and well-decorated bathroom, the comfy TV den with large TV, Roku, and DVD player, the complimentary snacks, and the convenient ironing board and iron. Heather was also kind enough to spend time recommending restaurants and bars for me to check out during my stay.
It is evident that Heather knows all about traveling and genuinely seeks to provide a great experience to those visiting Portland.
Heather's place is amazing! This was our first time in Portland and we found this to be the perfect AirBNB. The listing is 100% accurate and we were even pleasantly surprised by all of the amenities provided. The location is a pleasant and quiet street with a convenient Walgreens less than a 5 minute walk away. There is also amazing food to be had within walking distance. Further, Heather also provided a full folder with everything you need to know about Portland! This saved me a ton of time researching and planning. She is a true foodie and knows all the best spots.
Another thing to point out, this basement suite was completely private. We felt like we had our own apartment for the 5 days that we stayed. Yet, if we needed to get in touch with Heather, she was readily available. The space had a great living room and comfortable sofa to retire to at the end of the day. The bedroom was also cat free so that was a nice feature for those with allergies. Even so, go to the medicine cabinet in the bathroom and Heather has been kind enough to stock it with allergy medicine! Seriously, she has thought of everything. The kitchen had coffee, tea, and the pantry had snacks, drinks, and even frozen foods if you need something in a pinch! It's clear that Heather has gone out of her way to make her guests feel as comfortable as possible.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Portland and would gladly stay here again!
About the Host, Heather
I, of course, love travel and have traveled all throughout Western Europe, attended university at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland (my husband and I originally met there) and I spent all of 2002 backpacking throughout India, Nepal and SE Asia.
My travel style is flexible. I have 'roughed it' or 'vacationed well' while my husband’s style is more oriented towards ‘vacationing well’. For us, as we get older - the main thing is a decent bed. It has to be big enough for both of us and with good support.
We are foodies and love everything from street food to Michelin star restaurants. We like wine and beer both and love to try new things.
I ride a BMW motorcycle and am a motorcycle instructor on the weekends. One of my biggest travel dreams is to do an adventure motorcycling tour through Mongolia, NW India or Africa. (Oddly, my husband does not ride motorcycles.)
My husband and I are both Geek loving Sci-Fi/Fantasy people. We play computer games and board games (favorite computer game: BioShock; favorite board game: Twilight Imperium), as well as watch / read a lot of Sci-Fi/Fantasy movies/books.
Countries Heather has visited include: Iceland, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, India, Nepal, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Mexico, and Argentina (as well as extensively traveled throughout the US and Canada.)
I am always excited to meet new people and learn about different cultures. I hope you will stay with us! (And our cat Tybalt!)
