Heather was a great host and space was awesome. Easy to get downtown via public transit and loads to do in their neighbourhood. Heather offered up places to eat and local attractions, not sure if concierge is the correct word but you have a question and she has the answer.
Great location interesting neighborhood. Comfortable bed and I have a bad back. Host friendly and helpful but leave you alone if you want to be alone.
Our stay here was great. Heather gave us great recommendations on restaurants and the location was walking distance to some really great neighborhoods. The accommodations were very comfortable and it was nice to come back after a day of exploring and just have some tea and watch a movie.
Heather was a helpful and gracious hostess. She offered up lots of information and recommendations based on our interests. The location of the house was really great for being able to explore the Belmont / Hawthorne neighborhood. The guest room was cozy. The guest bathroom was thoughtfully stocked with anything you might have forgotten to pack. We didn't expect to use the TV room much, but we were worn out, so being able to lounge out on a comfy couch and watch TV in our own private area was a nice bonus. The space was chilly (63-64 degrees), and I didn't want to touch the house thermostat, so I used the spare blanket from the bedroom to try to warm up while we watched TV. When we heard Heather come home later that night, we went up and introduced ourselves. When I sheepishly told her that I was freezing, she did turn up the heat for a while. She obviously makes an effort to be a considerate host, and that was appreciated.
A perfect weekend getaway! Heather was a gracious host and had lots of recommendations at the drop of a hat. The space was clean and comfortable, just like the pictures suggest. The heated towel rack in the bathroom was an added bonus after a day walking in the rain! Would highly recommend to anyone looking to visit the Portland area.
My boyfriend Andrew and I stayed at Heather's place over the weekend and had a great experience! We had the whole downstairs and the accommodations were very comfortable. This was an ideal location due to the very close proximity to some awesome SE landmarks (we are now completely sold on moving nearby in September). She and her partner were very helpful, friendly, and flexible with our check-in/out process - I would definitely recommend this option to other travelers!
Heather made me feel extremely welcomed, answered all questions I had and offered some great suggestions. I truly appreciate her kindness, despite being a very last minute booking. The description was perfect. I will definitely keep it in mind for my next visit in Portland.
I, of course, love travel and have traveled all throughout Western Europe, attended university at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland (my husband and I originally met there) and I spent all of 2002 backpacking throughout India, Nepal and SE Asia.
My travel style is flexible. I have 'roughed it' or 'vacationed well' while my husband’s style is more oriented towards ‘vacationing well’. For us, as we get older - the main thing is a decent bed. It has to be big enough for both of us and with good support.
We are foodies and love everything from street food to Michelin star restaurants. We like wine and beer both and love to try new things.
I ride a BMW motorcycle and am a motorcycle instructor on the weekends. One of my biggest travel dreams is to do an adventure motorcycling tour through Mongolia, NW India or Africa. (Oddly, my husband does not ride motorcycles.)
My husband and I are both Geek loving Sci-Fi/Fantasy people. We play computer games and board games (favorite computer game: BioShock; favorite board game: Twilight Imperium), as well as watch / read a lot of Sci-Fi/Fantasy movies/books.
Countries Heather has visited include: Iceland, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, India, Nepal, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Mexico, and Argentina (as well as extensively traveled throughout the US and Canada.)
I am always excited to meet new people and learn about different cultures. I hope you will stay with us! (And our cat Tybalt!)
