Within walking distance to downtown Santa Fe, this historic adobe house is the epitome of Santa Fe charm. It provides a comfortable home away from home for you to explore what this great historic city has to offer.
The unit is perfectly located for visitors on Don Gaspar Avenue within walking distance to the Plaza and the Railyard and half a block from the State Capitol rotunda.
The apartment is a territorial adobe set in a historical house built when Santa Fe was a part of Mexico in the mid 1800's and retains many original features. My family has lived in this property since 1952.
The apartment comprises a large open plan living room, one bedroom with a spacious en-suite bathroom with a full bath and a separate shower. The living room has a comfortable leather couch that converts to a queen size bed. For extra sleeping accommodation, there is an additional full size sofa bed in the room adjacent to the living room, which is a Shikibuton Trifold Foam Bed, 4 " thick.
The apartment measures approximately 1200 square feet, has four rooms (including kitchen) and can comfortably accommodate 4 people. There is another bathroom in an adjoining corridor between the two units, which can be used if necessary for more people and if available. The apartment/unit is totally self-contained and separate from the other unit.
The kitchen has full amenities with a table for 4. There is another table for 4 in the living room by a large picture window, which can be used for dining as well as a work space. It is important to note that real adobe is cool in the Summer and warm in the Winter.
This unit is listed as a separate one for fewer people or can be combined with my other listing as an entire, whole house for larger parties or more space. (Please see my other listings on my profile page for more details.) This apartment is NOT available when the entire house is rented and visa versa.
With this self-contained, separate unit you have access to two porches, one entrance/exit from the bedroom and one entrance/exit from the living room. There is also an exit from the full kitchen. Parking is available for 2 or 3 cars near the front entrance on the property.
As a native Santa Fean, I can provide any information on dining, shopping, local attractions, events and local history you may need. I can provide guided historical tours of downtown Santa Fe as well. Just ask me a.s.a.p, so I can plan for it in ahead of time. I love to interact with my guests and would be happy to give you a tour around town.
Also, I run a "mini-spa" on the property and can offer massage therapies, facials and BodyWalking if you wish. Same prices as for locals: 60 Min. massage or BodyWalking $40. Facials $45. Please schedule with me in advance if you are interested.
Don Gaspar Ave. is located in one of the best and most beautiful neighborhoods in old Santa Fe. It is also one of the safest places to live. Bandelier once resided in this house until he built a bigger one on Canyon Road. In the sixties, only families occupied the homes on this street, which was near schools, shopping, etc. Now the block is in a commercial district, which means it is near where the action is on weekdays and quiet on the weekends.
Shopping, food are all within walking distance. The Railrunner and bus systems are nearby, but actually you don't need a car in this area.
Great stay - everything as advertised and in a great location. Would happily return for another visit to Santa Fe!
Virginia was most helpful to us offering her insights of Santa Fe and possibilities for our stay. My wife was recovering from a cold, and Virginia Emailed us to alert us of chicken soup in the cupboard....
above and beyond!
We rested and read a good portion of our stay, but the short walk from this wonderful adobe to the New Mexico Capital, the Square, or Canyon Road lured us out for a few hours each day. We usually drove the car for our evening meal.
We found this historic property to our liking as well as the care and kindness that were shown us by our host Virginia.

Great updated adobe with a short walk of two blocks to the plaza! Hostess, Virginia, made this easy and greeted us with wine and candy. To top it off she has a message studio right next door and for an extremely reasonable rate and an appointment, her massage will add to a very relaxing visit.
Our experience staying at Virginia's was wonderful! The home is beautiful and there is more room than two people could need. It was immaculate and we had everything we could have needed to prepare food in the beautiful New Mexico style kitchen. Virginia even had the bathroom stocked with toiletries. We enjoyed learning about the history of the home and Santa Fe from Virginia. One night we even came home to some beers and cookies waiting outside for us! The home is more beautiful than it looks in the pictures! Thank you Virginia, for a wonderful beginning to our South West vacation!
Thank you Caitlin for the feedback& review you gave me. It was fun hosting you all and answering the good questions you had. We hope you will take time to come back before too long and be able to stay longer. I'm glad you chose to stay with us for your first visit to Santa Fe. Feliz Ano Novo, Virginia
This is the first time I've used airbnb for travel. Virginia was a great host and I certainly will continue to keep in touch. Thanks Virginia for being so sweet and thoughtful!
We were very happy to stay at Virginia's. The apartment was absolutely beautiful. There was a kitchen with a stove/fridge, two bathrooms, and a bedroom and couch bed, so a lot of room for the three of us. The location was perfect - a few minutes drive to the plaza. Virginia herself was super helpful telling us about all the resources we would need to know what was happening in Santa Fe that week/weekend, and also gave us a list of restaurants that were in the area to check out. I highly recommend staying at Virginia's when you're in Santa Fe!
Virginia is a gracious host and the apartment is beautifully decorated, comfortable and 2 blocks from the plaza in a charming safe neighborhood. Who could ask for more? I've already told folks about it as we left town.
Virginia's apartment is very well set up and comfortable. Virginia is an excellent host ... friendly and eager to help a visitor get the most out of their stay in Santa Fe. The apartment is private, cozy and well equipped. We will stay here again if we're lucky enough to have a few more days in Santa Fe.
Really enjoyed our stay, fantastic location just a few minutes walk to the Plaza and all the shops. I would definitely recommend this charming quirky house. Virginia is a lovely caring host and will do anything to make your stay welcoming .
This house in downtown Santa Fe is amazing. Virginia is very sweet (even gave my kids a special travel kit as we were on the road). The location could not be more ideal. We walked to the plaza and is was an easy safe walk to dinner at night. The house is cozy and well stocked with the basics (pots & pans, sheets and such). The house has some history as well, which is always interesting (the book is in the house along with other Santa Fe travel guides). I would consider coming back to Santa Fe just to stay here and experience the town even more. Cannot recommend this place enough!!
