The Space

Hello visitor or traveler,

NOTE that July 14-30, we will be on vacation. So we will be renting out our entire apartment during those dates.

We are officially registered with NYC as a Bed & Breakfast, under the name of "Bridge Seal" B&B! We are one block from Bedford Ave-- ideally located near the iconic Williamsburg Bridge (and the 1st Brooklyn stop on the J/M/Z Metro for easy and direct uptown & downtown Manhattan transit), for those wishing to spend days exploring the city and want an easy ride home :)

The Blue Room is our southeast guest room in our relaxing and welcoming 3 bedroom apartment. The room is fully furnished with an elegant Cherry-wood Queen bed. It has a brand new plush mattress with a pillow topper. We recently installed a 5-light 650-crystal Turkish chandelier to make the room really something special! The room has a closet big enough for 2-3 suitcases/backpacks a hanging clothing rod, and a solid oak dresser, which we encourage our guests to take advantage of. The best part of this room is the amazing light and airy vibe!

The apartment:

•A fully stocked and super spacious kitchen!
•We provide your fresh sheets and towels
•Newly installed light & sound blocking window drapery for the light sleepers and people suffering jet-lag.
•Every room has it’s own Air Conditioning and Heat
•Internet /Cable/WiFi
•An eclectic art collection to inspire you to experience some of the great NY arts scenes!
•Bedroom has secure keyed locks.
•Ground floor bicycle storage
•All the people who live in the building and neighborhood are really supportive and out-going!
•The streets are well-lit.
•All the people who live in the building and neighborhood are really supportive and out-going!

Breakfast is available for an additional $5 per guest, per day:
It is a continental breakfast (REALLY good coffee, breads, fruit, cereals & milk, anything you need to make a great start to the day). *Please request this in advance so that I can have things ready for you, upon your arrival.*

Who WE are:

We Started Bridge Seal B&B in April of 2012. We wanted to create an arts-centric destination, by carefully curating our 3 bedroom apartment into a 2 unit Bed & Breakfast. We started slow and by the end of 2012, we have hosted over 300 travelers from all over the world.

Other than being an Bed & Breakfast host, I am a full-time visual artist. I create large-scale, colorful, abstract paintings. To learn more on my website, go here: (JsunLaliberte). My paintings seldom get installed at the house because of their size. I am also a 3rd generation ceramic artist. Much of the cups you will drink from have been made by me or my family! In a not-so-distant past, I was also a Sommelier at one of the best and most highly rated "farm-to-table" restaurants in Manhattan. True Hospitality and knowing how to make guests feel welcome are things I know so very well :)

My girlfriend, Kara, is a professional artist as well. Her website can be seen here: (KaraLRooney). Both of us have separate studio practices, so we can keep the mess out...! Kara is also a curator, art critic and an editor, so the art can change from time to time :)

We both do a lot of running, so if you are a runner, we have a lot of great routes for you to explore the city and neighborhoods with. Kara has been a long-time yogi. If you are into yoga, she has a lot of experience with several studios in the neighborhood and Manhattan.

We both have a wealth of overall knowledge of the neighborhood and the city!

We have a new puppy! :) His name is Lono. He's a Samoyed, so he is very hypoallergenic. I have Asthma, Kara has bad allergies, and he does not affect us at all. He lives in our bedroom or his crate. He has NO access to the guest room!! We do encourage guests to interact with him, just please do NOT feed him human food!!

YOUR EXPERIENCE:

Whether you are traveling partner, a couple on vacation, someone extending a business trip, or someone looking to host your family while they are visiting you-- we get you :)

During your stay, look forward to pleasant chat around the kitchen table. We can always help you find the best shops, the best food, the best art exhibitions, the best walks, the best cocktails, the quickest subway route, and best insider deals around!

We care about with whom we share our home . A good fit makes your stay amazing and our experience as hosts equally rewarding! We always give preference to civilized, pleasant and respectful people. We will not accept inquiries from partiers looking to pound beers at the kitchen table until 4am... We do our fair share of entertaining, but we keep it classy! ;)

More about the neighborhood:

The location is amazingly central to your NYC adventure! Blocks away from the Williamsburg happenings and 5-15 minutes to Manhattan. 10 mins to the Bedford L train. 5 mins to the Marcy J/M/Z train. 4 blocks from the East River Ferry landing. 2 blocks from the Williamsburg Bridge. Whether by car, train, bike, foot, or boat, you're 10 minutes away from Manhattan :)

Williamsburg, 20 years ago, used to be one of the roughest neighborhoods in all of New York. Then pioneering visual/audio/performing/experimental artists moved in and established a fringe community for over 25 years. Now, it’s the most sought-after real estate in all of the 5 boroughs! Even our kitchen looks out to Jay-Z’s Penthouse…

Williamsburg is a Foodies Heaven! So many major Manhattan chefs either have or are looking to have an outpost here. There's Diner and Marlow & Sons next door, ISA, Peter Luger, Dressler, Fatty 'Cue, Pies ‘n Thighs, Aurora, & Miss Favela—all within 4 blocks!

Williamsburg is also well known for it's art scene. All the gallery listings can be seen on the WAGMAG website.

Shopping-- If you like to shop…you’re in BIG trouble here! The vintage/designer/hand-made clothing/accessories and furniture scene is probably the most explosive economic sector in the neighborhood! Second only to the fleets of haut-cuisine food trucks that flock to the parks & streets when the sun shines bright!!

If Dancing to the best world-music is your thing, Bembe is one of the BEST places in all of Brooklyn and it's conveniently across the street. (Best Caipirinhas in the city!!)

****TAX Update:
(This current rate reflects NY sales tax of 8.875% included. We have been hosting successfully and continuously since March of 2012. Having enjoyed our experience as hosts, we have stepped up and have become fully legitimate and registered with the state. We are also fully insured.)

All together, everyone here is pretty awesome! We pride ourselves on having our guests leave with amazing memories!

All the best and we hope to meet you soon,
Jsun & Kara

  • Jsun is a wonderful host. We where there for the second time now, which speaks for itself. The quality/price ratio is perfect. Just go there, you won't regret it.

  • Its hard to argue against the amazing reviews already listed for Jsun and Kara's beautiful spot in Brooklyn. We had an amazing four days in their space, saw a ton of art and took in the sights. Its probably the best stay I've ever had in New York even without the amazing hosts.

  • Wonderful place to stay in Williamsburg! Hosts were fun and offered great advice about the music and art scene. The room was beautiful and comfortable. Everything was perfect. Wish we could stay longer!

  • We had a wonderful time at the place of Jsun and Kara and felt every time welcome in Brooklyn. I think, I have never slept so nicely as in the bed of the "Blue Room" in "Bridge Seal" :). Although we shared the appartement with another couple and Jsun and Kara, we never felt uncomfortable.
Williamsburg is very nice and so close to Manhatten. We recommend to use the City Bikes to explore the area ( a station is just around the corner!) and to have a nice morning coffee in the sun at Marlow & Sons.
We really enjoyed this trip and would never hesitate to come back to "Bridge Seal".
Thanks again to Jsun & Kara!

  • Easy access to a walk along the water, food and shops. Convenient access to several subway stations, as well as the pedestrian path on Williamsburg bridge which gets you to Manhattan while skipping the crowdedness. This rental exists exactly as advertised and is run by decent folks.

    Response from Jsun:

Thank you, Mette and Dean for being such wonderful guests.

    In response to the bads:
Yes, sleeping at night with the window open anywhere in NYC, particularly Brooklyn, you will hear noise.

The bed has a soft mattress, so if you require a firm mattress, it is now noted.

I do a thorough house clean twice a week. I do not clean your room when you are here, so if you are staying for extended periods (longer than a week and always keep the window open), you must let me know that you'd like a room cleaning. I won't go in otherwise.

  • Jsun and Kara were exceptionally nice and I had a wonderful time staying with them. They were both social when using the shared space and they respected my privacy when I needed to work alone. Their puppy Lono is adorable. He was only out when Jsun and Kara were supervising him and he was not allowed in the bedroom; so, no worries about dog mess in the room.

The room was nice and clean! The bed was very comfy with soft sheets. The aesthetic made it quite nice too. The bathroom was shared but I didn't have any trouble. The apartment is older so the bathroom has that older feeling. So, you won't get that sterile cleanliness of a hotel; however, nothing felt dirty to me.

The area was also nice. I was in town for a conference; so, I didn't explore too much. However, I easily found food, coffee and drinks in the area. Jsun and Kara were very helpful with recommendations too.

  • Great people, perfect location, amazing time!

If you're looking for a place to stay to experience Williamsburg, this is ideal. Just next to the Williamsburg bridge (which is beautiful) - its a twenty minute walk into Manhattan, SOHO, East Village.

Already planning on coming back next year and staying with Jsun!
