Experience the magic of the marrakech old medina from the other side! Situated in the heart of Marrakech is our private riad. You will experience a taste of culture mixed with some moroccan spirit and just a twist of european style!
Our riad (moroccan house) is beautifully decorated in a very tradition style. All the walls and floors are covered in beautifully decorated tiles. Just beyond the front door is a small water fountain which creates a relaxing atmosphere and is very usual of old moroccan houses. The sitting area is typically moroccan style and has hosted many shared moroccan meals with tourists, friends and family.
All the rooms have their own private bathroom and typical moroccan style doors!
Within a few minutes walk you will reach an area of more gardens and 3 swimming pools! There is a few small shops that sell fresh bread everyday (with fixed prices), a pizzaria, a coffee and free wifi!
Guests have access to a relaxing terrace with views of the atlas mountains, 3 swimming pools, beautiful gardens, little shops, cafe with wifi. In the Riad there is a kitchen if you would like to have a cooking lesson with us. There is a roof terrace which you can sit in and catch the sun, for sunbathing, eating and barbecues. There are gardens, trees and flowers surrounding the whole area of private riads and around the swimming pool area. This seems a funny thing to share but in Marrakech areas of garden are a haven in the heat as they bring a fresh wanted coolness.
We enjoy interacting with our guests, sharing stories, giving information and guidance about staying in morocco, the best trips etc. On a friday it is Cous Cous day. If all goes according to our schedule we like to prepare and share the experience of eating as a moroccan family with our guests if your around. Please ask and we let you know.
If you have any problems, queries or concerns please let us know in advance of your stay and during your stay please do not hesitate to discuss anything. We want to make you feel as comforable as possible so that your stay is one of the best memories that you take with you.
We run moroccan cooking lessons with a traditional moroccan chef. We will take you to the market to buy vegetables and meat, then return to cook a tangine the traditional way on hot coals. Its a fun lesson and a fantastic way to spend an evening in Marrakech. A unique experience cooking and eating outside in the fresh air (weather permitting of course!) There is an additional charge for this but way cheaper then any cooking class you would find anywhere else!
If you want to smoke a shisha pipe while your staying with us this can also be arranged. We have a few flavours to choose from and we charge for a group of people 50dhms per head. In the medina you will be charged 100dhms upwards. We have a moroccan chill area where you can smoke or on the terrace.
We can take you to a real local moroccan hammam where you will have a real traditional scrub not touristic at all! In addition we have a local massage therapist professionally trained who can give you the spa treatment in the comfort of your own room. So total relaxment!
We are situated in a typical moroccan but 'private' area for families that is only accessable to guests and residents of the area. This allows a feeling of comfort knowing that you can walk freely around enjoying the area without being approached or hassled by sellers. Instead you get to experience the moroccan daily life passing you by but still have that interaction with other tourists. The riads are actually a haven for relaxation and chilling after walking around and experiencing the hustle and bustle of the marrakech souks and medina.
The riads are situated 5 minutes from the bab Khemis market which happens every Thursday and Sunday and is famous for getting bargains and a few people have even bought a few antiques!
The residents in this private area are very friendly and like to chat and share moroccan tea or a meal at a given opportunity.
You are within walking distance of all the touristic sights including Jardin Marjorelle, The Tanneries, maison de photography, La Koutoubia, Jemma Fna Square, School of Ben Youseff, Bab Khemis Market, Bahia Palace, The Tombs of the Saidens. You are also within a 5 minute taxi ride to the beautiful palmaraie area where you can go quad biking, camel riding. visit the museum of marrakech or go and play golf! Also in this area you will find some great evening entertainment with a brazillian restaurant, a shisha lounge and a spanish tapas bar all of which have live music.
The best way to discover Marrakech is to go out and get lost in the maze of streets, sights of interest, shops, cafes and markets.
You ARE situated in the old medina but not in the 'Jemma Fna Square' which many people associate with just being 'the old medina'. The medina actually covers a very wide area that includes the area here where the riad is situated. Literally just across the road from the private riad complex is the old wall with the big arched doorways that contained original Marrakech and hidden within are the winding streets and alleys containing interesting souks, shops, touristic places of interest, bars, restaurants and more which can mainly be reached by walking but you can take a taxi or even a bus to some place. There are also horse and carriages in Marrakech which is a lovely way to see the city both old and new.
We can help with tours to the desert, Essaouira and the cascades, plus trekking as we deal with a good company who keeps his prices real.
We have all the information for transport within the city.
We can also help you hire a car or scooter for travel around marrakech and morocco
All bedrooms have their own private bathroom with a shower providing hot water using an immersion heater. We provide towels and bedding. We are happy to change these during the week if your staying for more than 5 days but please if you need clean ones before then let us know!
There is WIFI within the Riad which can be used throughout even on the terrace!
A light breakfast is available at 9.30 on monday to friday and 10,30am on Saturday. We do not serve breakfast on a Sunday. Breakfast is traditional moroccan style with mint tea and may include fresh bread, moroccan pastrys, moroccan breakfast soup, fresh fruit or yoghurt. We serve different things at different times of year
We do have a tiny dog called Coco (a mini teckel) who we rescued from a shelter. He is still new to this world so is learning about life and people. Yes he barks at new things but this is quickly forgotten when you experience his cute, fun, crazy side! Let us know if this would be an issue for you as we would never want this to effect your stay.
For tours - We make sure we only use companies that provide our guests with enjoyable trips. As this is morocco though and is not inline with european/america customer service training there may be some parts of the trip that do not reach your expectations. We welcome feedback and ensure we deal with any issues you may have.
Please note the pool is heated only from the sun! In the summer this is of course excellent as you have a nice cool pool during the morning and a warm pool during the afternoon. However in the winter months (November- February) the pool is not suitable for swimming and during this period the pool may be emptied in order to be cleaned for the next season. However the sun is always shining in Marrakech and so you can still relax and chill by the pool as it is surrounded by beautiful gardens and is very quiet and relaxing. The pool is generally open from 9am until 6/7pm everyday from around late March/ early April. However this is subject to change depending on what is happening in Morocco! As we say here 'this is morocco (T.I.M) anything can happen!' Please contact us at the time of booking to confirm the status of the pool.
Smoking is not permitted within the riad anywhere except outside or on the terrace.

Karim and Debbie were wonderful hosts. Very helpful and welcoming. Their riad is cosy and secure with good access the the old medina. Would recommend staying here.
Karim's riad is clean, comfortable, and in a fine location outside of the medina.
Be careful with the hidden charges though - for example, coffee in the morning & the driver to Karim's riad. We were told the riad was inaccessible by petite taxi since it is in a gated community, and were charged 100D for the driver once we arrived (by comparison, it cost 16D to get back to the bus station on our way out). The next morning, Karim told us that he thought the driver charged too much, but did nothing to rectify the situation and others who stayed with Karim were charged the same amount for their trip to the riad.
Overall, the basics were taken care, just be careful and make sure the price of the driver is discussed before you arrive in Marrakesh.
Karim and Debbie were good hosts. Their house is in a quiet neighborhood just outside the old medina's walls and Jab-el-fnaa is a twenty minutes walk if you don't get lost (quite impossible in Marrakech). Karim and Debbie arranged taxis for us with no problem (but you better check the price with the taxi driver before getting into the car to avoid any misunderstanding).
Karim's place is clean, quiet, value for money accomodation.
It is outside walls of the Medina, we thought it was in the Medina, but apparently only 1 of their 3 properties is in the Medina.
Area is very quiet and felt extremely safe, with shops and cafe nearby.
Karim and Debbie were very friendly, and welcoming, and served us lovely meal on arrival.
Karim and Debbie were really great hosts! We stayed for New Years and they had set up a party complete with henna for the girls and live music later in the night, not to forget the amazing chicken and full dinner they had for us! The room we stayed in was nice and had a private bath, very quiet and safe feeling neighborhood. The pizza place is pretty good and fairly cheap, and it's possible to walk into the medina but it's a bit of a maze, we gave up and got a cab. Koko the dog is adorable and we had no problems at all. Karim even set up a 1 hour trip to the hammam for me and a few other guests (seperate times) it is definitely worth a go if you are there! Thanks again!
Karim and Debbie were very friendly (and english speaking) hosts. They offered a cheap and basic room just outside the old Medina of Marrakech. It takes about thirty minutes to walk to the Jeema El Fna square, but is conveniently set apart from the city noise.
Karim and Debbie are willing to organise great activities like going to a hamam, cooking classes (making tagines!) and day trips. Their prices are more touristic than local, but it’s a nice way to socialize with other people and experience Maroc.
To conclude this comment: we really enjoyed our stay here, but if we have to make one critical note: in reality the riad was a little bit more basic than it appeared in the ad. It is also set quite apart from the old medina, so be prepared to walk (and get lost) or to take a taxi back.
Karim, Debbie and Coco were fantastic to stay with and it felt like I had a whole new family almost immediately after entering their home. They helped me everyday with my extra trips and experiences around Marrakech/Morocco and were so fun to get to know and hang out with. The location is really good, it is out of the way of the bustle of Marrakech but quite a short walk to the medina and souks. We had a cooking lesson with Karim which was a blast and I was able to meet to many interesting people who were also staying with them. It was an absolutely fabulous experience overall, and I am certain I will be staying with Karim and Debbie again in the near future! I would recommend their home to anyone looking to make friends, have fun and enjoy getting to know real Moroccan hospitality.
Vert nice place, Karim and Debbie booked for us a tour in the desert and give us good advice for place to visit . It was very relaxing to stay in their place.
Had a great time. Karim and Debbie are excellent hosts. The room itself is comfortable and clean. There is a short/medium walk to central square but if one does not feel like walking a taxi will work. Karim lives in a very secure private complex which is also very quiet/residential (vs. staying in a far noisier place inside the medina) and at least for me security is key. The rooms are 1-2 floors up, the stairs are fine, but I mention it in case anyone has issues with mobility. I would definitely stay here again if I was in town. It is a great place, and good value... certainly staying in a 3-4 star hotel will cost significantly more....
I needed a quiet relaxing place where I could work in the sun (wifi very important) and that was exactly what I found at Karim's and Debbie's Qaria. Correction: it exceeded every expectations! I had a perfect time with these lovely warm friendly people and I fell in love with their dog Coco- one of the cutest dog ever!!! I was even more lucky because their guests, friends (especially Tiger) and neighbors were as well great company. It felt like one big happy family. We had some nice evenings together (when I was not working), especially the evening of our cooking class was hilarious!! Highly recommended, this place of my new special Maroccan friends #MMBBhouse #lipstick #hastag #happyplace #friendlyshouse #family #officeinthesun #tillwemeetagain
