  • Wonderful studio on the side of town! I stayed here for 2 nights after a wedding weekend in the Tucson area. Used it as a base-camp for hiking adventures and it was perfect. Norm was wonderful and very kind and welcoming. The CDs were fun to listen to on our drive out to Chiricahua National Monument (even though we didnt follow along his route we definitely learned a few things about the area!). Highest praise for this place!

  • We stayed 4 nights at Norm's and it was great! Some people booked the Studio so Norm let us stayed in an apt instead, which is not pictured. It had a separate bedroom, etc., but we would have been just fine in the studio too as we saw it in person.

Internet was stable and fast and the location is really good, just a 5 minute drive from the most happening spot in Tucson, which is the street where the Rialto theater is. We could have walked or biked there, but we were lazy and took the car. There were great Mexican restaurants nearby also!

The studio shares its land with 2 other apartments, which used to be a house at some point. In fact, as Norm explained, the studio used to be a pool, in the 60's. The neighborhood itself is starting to change, as it's very close to nature and hiking trails. We even saw some wildlife on our drive up the hill.

Only thing to be careful about is the train that cross Tucson is quite audible from the hill upon which the house is perched. The tracks are not at all close by, but with the windows open, each train was quite noticeable. It didn't bother us at all as we thought it was quite atmospheric and the frequency of passage seems to be quite restrained during the night.

The + side to that is the fantastic view from the patio, where we took our breakfast! On our arrival, we met the neighbors, who were super nice and invited us for a drink. Norm also dropped by to meet us and he's a very gentle and laid back person. We felt Tucson has this great vibe!

In all, we recommend staying here for many reasons: the people, location, charm and value of the place. For sure, it's not a luxury accommodation, but that's not what we were looking for. We'll stay at Norm again next time we're in Tucson.

  • Norm was a great host - very helpful and considerate without being intrusive. He was genuinely concerned about making sure that we were comfortable and urged us to contact him if we needed anything or had any questions. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, and the kitchen such a great amenity. We found the accommodations to be a good value and would stay at one of Norm's properties again with no reservations.

  • Norm was a very kind and generous host. The location is very convenient and we enjoyed our stay.

  • At $60 per night this place is a good deal. Norman provides a self contained studio type apartment with refrigerator, stove, coffee maker, even a blender. A washer and dryer are available on the premises. The place is located on a hill and the picture window provides a good view of downtown and surrounding mountains. The patio is equipped with tables, chairs and a grill. The location is convenient, near a grocery store, close to downtown and the Viejo Barrio. Agustin, a nearby restaurant, has great happy hour prices with a creative menu. Norman even sent us a book he wrote complete with CD's providing us with guided tours of historic Tucson. This is not a luxury accommodation - tiny bathroom, some garage sale furniture, and a tricky, winding road in and out. Still, it's a good value.

  • This is a great location with a fantastic view - great value for money. Norm was a very attentive host and his virtual self guided tour was great. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Norman's studio is an amazing value! My husband and I stayed 2 days and thought it the perfect setup and location. The picture window next to the bed definitely the best part!! Sunrises and sunsets right from the bed and a great view of the Catalina Mountains and downtown nearby. Having the kitchen area was also a huge plus and there is pretty much anything you'd need, including a blender! Love that. Things to note: the bathroom is really quite small but not such a big deal to us. Also, the wifi does not work when you are inside the studio so you would have to sit out on the patio to be online and although the satellite tv is good, there is no remote for the TV's volume controls. Norman is still new to airbnb so perhaps he will make those improvements for future guests. But seriously, those comments aside, his place is great!I highly recommend!

  • This Place is AWSOME!!!! The View is unbelieveble, in bed you`ll feel like a princess overlooking the whole cizy of Tuscon. You have a fine kitchen, Saveway 5 min ago, and a little bathroom. The bathroom won`t be cool for people with very long legs or very big people. The host is a very friendly and helpful person, new to the airbnb buisness, he really want to make it the right way, and he did!! Only the WIFI could be a problem, if you need WIFI, check with the host first, otherwise there are many nice Cafes in Town with WIFI and excellent Coffee :-))

  • The apartment was perfect, and the views from inside and out on the patio are spectacular. You can lie in bed in the morning and watch the sunrise over the mountains. It's close enough to everything to be convenient, but tucked into a part of Tucson with a lot of character. I enjoyed walking around the quiet streets in the evenings and seeing all the beautiful old houses of Tucson. Norm was a very kind host, and made sure everything was set up for me ahead of time. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!
