The Encantada guest house was amazing! My girlfriend and I stayed in one of the bedrooms but were lucky enough to have the house to ourselves the whole time! The views of Lake Arenal and the volcano were very nice, and offered a very good place to watch sunsets and unwind after busy days exploring. The only issue was a small communication confusion with the housekeeper and getting the keys to get in, but we just watched the first sunset on the porch while we waited for him! Once in the house it was very comfortable and well furnished. We really liked being in a more private setting and had no problem getting up the road in our rental 4x4, even in the rain. We would recommend to friends!
We are absolutely in love with this off-the-beaten-path home. Gorgeous views, a short hike to a little creek, a huge shower with plenty of hot water and pressure, and beautiful tile and woodwork. There is everything you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. The bed is super soft and cozy, and Nita even has a ton of DVDs to watch. We found some amazing restaurants nearby, including the delicious and fairly priced La Mesa de Mama and Pizza John's. The people are friendly and helpful, and Juan (Encantada's caretaker) was an absolute angel. Nita could not have been more helpful with travel and tourist tips. Very highly recommend -- we'll be sending friends Nita's way, and I hope to see the finalized B&B they are building!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Encantada Guest House. The location was really close to the Arenal and some day adventures, yet it was private enough and had a beautiful view. The house was very clean and the caretaker was very responsive. We would definitely stay again!
The place is magical with great views! Lots of wildlife around the house and a short distance to all the Arenal activities. The room is very comfortable and the house is well equipped and cozy! We will try to stay here again some day...we also accidentally discovered an incredible restaurant only 5 minutes away...Tres Cabras.
Hacienda Encantada is beautiful! We were the only people staying in the house at the time, which was good since we arrived so late (driving at night in Costa Rica can be really tricky). The house was beautiful, the caretaker Michael was very sweet, the cats were very welcoming and cuddly, and the views were absolutely breathtaking. The road leading up to the house CAN be done in a non 4x4 vehicle, but depending on your ground clearance you will probably bottom out. However, we had a very enjoyable time in El Castillo (the soda in the town is excellent, I HIGHLY recommend eating there). The directions Nita left are very detailed, the only thing I would add is that at the point where you see the larger two story house above the smaller one, the turn for the house is to the left of those buildings, and if you find yourself in the "business portion" of El Castillo, you have gone too far. Also, do yourself a favor and don't try finding it at night for your first time :)
Thanks Shelley for your Kind Review. We are so glad you enjoyed your visit. We do work continually to improve our Guests Experience and the Road up to the house, which we agree needs more improvement. We have already laid two set of concrete strips and hope to do more in the future, but the Costa Rica rain plays havoc, with the earthen works. every year. Come Back Soon
The house is Just Perfect and beautiful, well situated with a beautiful view.
It s so quiet and peaceful. And Michael is so Nice and very Helpful. The house is so well équiped. The only thing is à 4 wheel drive is better to access the house but it s possible with à car!
