Interaction with Guests
We like to chat with new visitors and will provide evening meals if required. We live on the premises, on the ground floor, and are always available for advice.
Sketty is a quiet residential area with a small shopping centre and there are several pubs and restaurants locally. We are close to bus stops and it only takes about ten to twelve minutes by bus or forty minutes to walk to the centre of Swansea. Singleton Park with its beautiful walled garden is only 6 minutes walk and the beach of Swansea Bay is just beyond. The Gower peninsula with its spectacular beaches is easily accessible by bus and car. The town centre contains theatres, cinemas and museums such as the Maritime Museum or Dylan Thomas Centre. The entertainment quarter in Wynd Street attracts lots of young people. The Liberty Stadium renowned for both Swansea City Premier League football and Ospreys rugby is north of the city centre.
There are frequent buses passing along Gower Road which is only a few minutes walk away, parallel to Carnglas Avenue. Bus numbers to look for include 20 and 21 to Sketty, the 37 to Mumbles via Sketty or the 118 Rhossilli bus. Free parking is usually available on Carnglas Avenue.
If arriving at Cardiff Airport, bus T9 will take you to Cardiff Bus Station where you can catch a bus for Swansea. Cardiff train station is just beside the bus station and there are trains to Swansea every hour during the day. We can arrange to fetch you by car from Swansea bus or train station if required or a taxi from Swansea station will cost about £6 to £8.
Other Things to Note
Please note that we are Carnglas Avenue not Road. It's just around the corner but we are parallel to Gower Road. The bed is a standard 4ft 6in double. There is a sofa bed as well which is useful for a child sharing with parents.
We are non-smokers and would invite guests who wish to smoke to use the rear terrace. If you wish to go out late, you will have your own key. We usually go to bed about midnight and would appreciate any night owls returning quietly. We regret that, as we do not have any ourselves, there are no facilities available for pets.
This shows the standard double bed and the sofa bed which is handy for a child or for sitting to watch TV>
Really lovely stay in a comfortable house in a nice suburb. Girlfriend and I had a wedding in mumbles which was only a short distance away. Sheila gave us a key as we were coming in late. Room was perfectly fine and comfortable (as shown in the photo).
Lots of choice for breakfast including cereal, toast and a full English/Welsh. I particularly enjoyed the French apricot jam.
Sheila and husband were great hosts. They even chaperoned us to the wedding and let us use their iron at a time of desperate need. Top marks and would highly recommend.
We were so pleased with our nights stay. The location was excellent for us being only a 5-10 mins walk from singleton park where we went to a concert. The room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. Sheila and Jim were very friendly, welcoming and knowledgable of the local area. We wish we could have stayed longer.
Very comfortable stay with Sheila and her husband. They were very friendly and made us copious amounts of toast in the morning!
Both Sheila and her husband are really kind. They are so friendly and helpful! We had a conversation before leaving the house and I could understand why people love staying at their house. It is not only because of the comfy room, but also the nice folks. I love the house which is so comfy and the location is ideal. Also, the breakfast prepared by Sheila were really delicious. All in all, we really enjoyed the stay and will definitely go back there in future.
Everything was simply wonderful! The room was spacious and clean, cozy and comfortable. The hosts were kind and heart-warming, to say the least!
Sheila and her husband are very friendly and helpful hosts. The house is very clean and beautiful. The breakfast is very nice offered with flexible timing. Sheila's husband explained the local attractions and the directions in detail.
Thank you for the review. I do say in the description that we live 'on the premises, on the ground floor'. I don't know how I can make this clearer. I also point out that the bathroom is for the use of guests only and is not shared by us. Thank you for pointing out the broken holder. We will attend to this.
Sheila and Jim made us feel very welcome in their home, they are very nice and personable. They picked us up from the bus station and were well prepared for our arrival with bus schedules and recommendations for things to do during our visit. The house was very well kept and comfortable. Sheila made a great breakfast for us before we left the next day. Overall we had a great visit to Sheila and Jim's home and we would recommend it to anyone coming to the area.
