Interaction with Guests
The managers live on the property and will be happy to help with any questions, suggestions, ideas, or directions to local attractions. They will always be considerate of your privacy and space during your stay.
Centrally located near many attractions including Kealakekua Bay, Pu'uhonua O Honaunau (Place of Refuge), Two Step, Painted Church, Paleaku Peace Sanctuary/Botanical Gardens, and Ho'okena Beach Park; yet only 30 minutes from Kailua-Kona. There are many bays and beaches in which to snorkel/dive and you may get lucky enough to swim with the dolphins and turtles! During whale season you can enjoy watching their behavior from many of the close local areas as well. You can fill your days with many wonderful sites including Volcanoes National Park and Mauna Kea Observatory; most all of this island can be reached within a couple of hours from the farm.
Parking is free on the property and we strongly encourage a car rental as most attractions are not within comfortable walking distance. As of May 1, 2015, we do not have a car rental available. We will update this posting should that option change in the future.
Other Things to Note
It is a tropical climate, so we recommend insect repellent for your comfort as well as sun protection to minimize exposure.
WE NO LONGER ACCEPT CHECK-INS AFTER 8 PM. We are a non-smoking farm and emphasize QUIET HOURS from 9:00pm to 8:00am with no kitchen, lanai, or outside activity during this time in consideration of other guests and our neighbors. Our rental is located in a tropical climate so we ask that you do not leave dirty dishes and/or food out as it encourages pests. This is also why we ask that you do not take food into your room. Laundry hours are from 8am to 7pm. You will be asked to sign a rental agreement upon Check-in.
We had a great time at this place. Our kind and helpful hosts made us feel comfortable and welcome. We really enjoyed the quiet environment here.
The room was very nice and with a great view to the ocean. We enjoyed the kitchen and the very peaceful lanai with the marvellous seaview. It was interesting to see the farm with all the different crops growing.
The host had made a description showing the way to the different beaches and parks in the neighbourhood, so it was easy for us to find. The hint to visit the local fishers shop was great.
If we should come back to Big Island we surely will stay hene again.
Aloha Henning! We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and the environment was to your liking. We try to do our best to make everyone comfortable and keep a quiet peaceful atmosphere here at the farm. We truly enjoyed having you stay here and you are welcome back anytime. Mahalo for staying with us, we really enjoyed having you here!
Great place & great hosts. Kitchen was perfect for making full meals and very organized so each renter has their own space for food etc in the kitchen/Fridge as well as the bathroom. They also provided snorkeling gear, beach towels and basic beach chairs. Very clean, couldn't ask for anything else. Definitely would stay again if we're in the area.
This was our first AirBnB ex[perience and we didn't quite know what to expect, but Chris and Coralee made us feel so welcome. Coralee was very helpful in showing us where everything was located. She even made fresh juice for us from farm limes and oranges, such a treat after
a long flight. The room was just as it was pictured with lush foliage and wonderful bird songs outside the screened windows. There is a beautiful lanai where you can eat, its a nice place to get to know other guests a little. Chris and Coralee were terrific about letting us know the best local places to see and swim. The farm even has snorkle gear guests can use. The dog Nani was sweet and so well behaved! She was always polite and never barked at guests
she seemed to know who was supposed to be there. We enjoyed the area, it's rural and lush with a lot of farms around. I liked the little stands next to driveways with local fruit, especially the one that had a sign saying, "help yourself." A lot of aloha here.
I really enjoyed staying Paliuli Farm. This place is quiet, comfortable, clean, beautiful, close to beaches and the best to fully enjoy life in Hawaii. Coralie and Kris are so kind and helpful. I also enjoyed chating with them and Nani. I did not want to leave there. I'll come back soon!
Wonderful, great, marvelous, just brilliant! Thank you!!!
This was the best, during our hole trip to Hawaii! The room make you feel like sleeping under the sky, with beautiful sound, I really love it and I will miss it!!
Although we enjoyed the breakfast and dinner on the lanai, even when we have had a sunset just once!
Thank you for all the fresh fruit!! This was yummy!!
We loved this place so much, that we already make plans to coming back!
Aloha to you both and we are so happy you enjoyed your stay. We had a wonderful time with you sharing stories, food and helping you find new places to explore. Mahalo for choosing to stay with us...we feel lucky to have met you and we miss you already (including Nani)!!
Our hosts made us feel welcome by contacting us via email prior to our stay, and coordinating what time we planned to arrive. Then they met us as soon as we pulled in. We did a quick tour of all the available areas and amenities and had the opportunity to ask questions and get directions. The room looks exactly like the photo and was very comfortable and clean for the two of us. We really enjoyed the fruit the hosts provided from the farm (bananas, papaya, starfruit) and had fun snorkeling at the nearby location they recommended (maybe 1-2 miles down the hill; the hosts had some snorkels and fins we were able to use, too). Caught a great sunset from the large and private platform on the property with a view of the entire South Kona coast, and the dog came along too, to scare off any wild pigs we might encounter (only saw 1).
There was 1 other guest the weekend we stayed, and we encountered him in the shared kitchen. He was able to help us out by recommending times/locations to watch the Ironman World Championship the next morning, so we were glad to have met him.
The neighborhood is on the side of a volcano, and all the plots are 5 acres, so we did not encounter any neighbors or many vehicles in the area. There was a great breakfast cafe right up the road, and a whole lot of Kona coffee farms and fresh fruit stands.
My stay at paliuli farm in July was just great! A comfortable room with sunset view over the sea, a kitchen for all needs and incredibly nice and helpful hosts. It was so cool to chat with Coralie and Chris who were present but never intrusive at all! I could lend some snorkeling equipment from then to go to the next beaches. Honaunau or two-step is so close with so many fish. Koji next door could even swim with dolphins!
I would recommend this place to everybody and would love to come back!

About the Host, Paliuli
Aloha kakou (Hello to all):
The owner, Marc, fell in love with the Big Island in 1982 and bought this coffee farm in 2007 after living in several locations around the island. He spends about 65% of his time here on this island paradise which he considers "home". The farm offers him and his guests, a peaceful, quiet, farm stay on aina (land) that is deeply rooted in the old Hawaiian traditions and ways of Aloha. He danced with hula Halau 'O KeikiAli'i and grows gourds for making Ipu Heke (gourd drum used by hula dancers). He starts most every day with a great swim at one of the many bays in South Kona.
