This Heights modern tin house is filled with art and creative energy. The bedroom/bath with loft space is upstairs and private. Lap pool, outdoor shower, and native gardens along a spring fed creek. Private and secluded in the heart of the city.
We are new at this so if you see something that would make this space better, let us know. Lilith, our blue heeler, lives downstairs. There are 3 shy cats that roam the backyard.
Guests have access to our private pool. In the cooler weather, we turn on the pool solar panels (usually still too cold for most people mid-Nov to mid-March) and heat up the hot tub. Breakfast is help yourself fruit and yogurt, toast, tea, coffee.
There are 4 artists / writers living and working in this art compound, so someone is usually around to help with directions and details. We are quiet, nature loving, literate, birdwatching, gardening collective. We have traveled the world and welcome guests to share their stories.
Restaurants, SSQQ Dance Studio, and bus stop are all close by.
Dixie is a wonderful host, very easy to feel comfortable and at home here.
Dixi's home is incredible. She has a beautifully decorated house inside and out, and her collection of art is just phenomenal. She has a warm personality and is a great host. I felt SO comfortable during my stay. I would love to stay at her place again!
Dixie is a wonderful host, making sure I had everything I needed, being available and giving me space. The compound is a truly delightful, relaxing space. A perfect respite after a long day of work.
I needed the space for the day and Dixi was able to accommodate my request. She is amazing host and a interesting individual.
Her space is quite unique and I will definitely rent from her again.
Very cool home. Host was very kind.
Dixi is very nice and welcoming. The room and bath were very clean and comfortable. I would stay again when in the area.
Dixi made my stay in Houston a total success. Great communication prior to arrival even though I was a last minute guest. Her beautiful House is gigantic and filld with loads of interesting artwork...the garden is just as spacious and nice. As I had no car the bus stop around the corner was very helpful. Also vintage shopping and good food is within walking distance. I had my private space but just needed to leave my quarters to meet and exchange with Dixi and other artists.
Thanks for everything & I'll be back !!!
I stayed at Dixi's home for 2 days. It was so lovely. She is a wonderful host. She is very warm and friendly and makes you feel "at home". Her artwork is unbelievably beautiful. What talent! Her home is so comfortable and clean. Do yourself a favor and stay here when in Houston. Its very convenient for getting around. Thanks Dixie! I hope to see you again if I'm ever in Houston.
Came to visit Houston with my girlfriend relatively last minute so we felt fortunate Dixi was able to accommodate us on such short notice. We had no idea what we were in for though... Dixi's place is a treasure. A huge peaceful home full of character, great books, and fantastic artwork. A stunning garden to explore outside. Clean cozy quiet conformable rooms. A hot tub! We couldn't have enjoyed our stay any more than we did. Dixi is a marvelous host, friendly and interesting but gives you your space. We felt totally comfortable there the entire time. We'd come back in a heartbeat and just hope the secret is not out and the room is still available!
It is always a treat to stay at Dixi's! It is like a "home away from home", and we greatly enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of Dixi's home. Dixi is a wonderful host and we always have an excellent stay!
