Bedroom, bath and loft living space

Loft - Private room · West 14th Street, Houston, TX 77008, United States

This Heights modern tin house is filled with art and creative energy. The bedroom/bath with loft space is upstairs and private. Lap pool, outdoor shower, and native gardens along a spring fed creek. Private and secluded in the heart of the city.

The Space

We are new at this so if you see something that would make this space better, let us know. Lilith, our blue heeler, lives downstairs. There are 3 shy cats that roam the backyard.

Guest Access

Guests have access to our private pool. In the cooler weather, we turn on the pool solar panels (usually still too cold for most people mid-Nov to mid-March) and heat up the hot tub. Breakfast is help yourself fruit and yogurt, toast, tea, coffee.

Interaction with Guests

There are 4 artists / writers living and working in this art compound, so someone is usually around to help with directions and details. We are quiet, nature loving, literate, birdwatching, gardening collective. We have traveled the world and welcome guests to share their stories.

Getting around

Restaurants, SSQQ Dance Studio, and bus stop are all close by.

  • I always enjoy my stay with Dixie. She makes me feel at home.

  • This is an extraordinary plush place to spend a night with a very gracious host. Obviously Dixie has an unusual and beautiful taste for the aesthetic that comes across in so many ways. If you are an artist...or not, you will be inspired by all the incredible attention to detail.

  • Especially as a first night's stay in the United States, and even booking it last minute, I experienced Dixi's place to be surreally beautiful. Healthy/great food was provided. The bed's super comfortable. Dixi was greatly helpful and layed-back, who knows how to make you feel at ease. It was such a pleasure to meet her (and also Rich and Lily)!

  • Dixi has a beautiful place full of visually stimulating art. The garden/pool area is peaceful and a great place to relax. It was a perfect place for me as I tend to be an introvert who likes visually interesting spaces.
The bedroom I stayed in was conducive to privacy and the bed was extremely comfortable.
There are plenty of nice Asian food place to eat nearby.
I would highly recommend her home .

  • Thanks Dixie! Your house is a gorgeous and comfortable space. I so enjoyed meeting you and Richard, trading stories and enjoying your lovely garden oasis. Thank you for sharing a special side of Texas. I look forward to seeing y'all again when I return to photograph/continue my "lotto" project.

  • We found this home breathtakingly beautiful both in design and in the amazing artwork throughout. We appreciated that Dixie was so gracious and welcoming... We only stayed one night but would definitely return to this. It's not every day that one gets to share space with an extraordinary artist!

  • Dixie and her wonderful home sooth all the senses and provide unexpected delights. We had a fabulous 3 day birthday gathering - biking eating hottubbing laughing singing and dancing. We will definitely return.

  • Dixi is a not only a great host, but is also a phenomenal artist. When you enter her house, which she designed, it is like stepping into a well-curated oasis. We wished we didn't have to head home after our two-night stay.
