Eddie was a great communicator, super responsive to texts. His housekeeper and her daughter checked me in and they were lovely and helpful.
The location was fantastic. Close to Times Square, but apart from the hustle and bustle. Easy walk to a bajillion delicious places to eat and drink. And very convenient to seeing a bunch of Broadway shows, which we did.
No street noise - at all - even though there was major construction going on across the way. It can get a bit noisy on the stair and in the hall, but the bedroom really is isolated from noise - and is even remarkably sunny!
The place is simple, but very serviceable and well kept, as described. Like many NY accommodations the building is old so some stuff just comes with the territory ... not the most robust shower ever, insect spotted in the bathroom. This is not a hotel, just the kind of thing that anyone living in the city might ordinarily deal with.
Great value, good choice.
Great flat! Great host!
This flat is very good to visit new york. It's very close to Times Square or the next tubestation, 5 minutes to go. Furthermore the Centralpark is only 5 min to walk.
Eddie was always available and very helpfull with all our problems and questions. He met us at the flat an gave us some instructions and informations . We enjoyed our stay in New York and we would like to come back very soon.
We stayed in the apartment for 5 nights and loved it!
The apartment was exactly as advertised- no surprises. We were afraid to find a tiny NYC style apartment that only appears big in the pictures, but were happy to find a decent sized apartment. We stayed 3 people + a toddler for the mentioned period and it was totally fine. The beds were comfortable, the apartment was clean, the kitchen and the bath did the job.
As for the location- great location. short walk to Times Square and subway to all Manhattan. We really enjoyed the great restaurants in the area.
I can't say too many things about Eddie because our interaction was pretty minimal- we didn't need him during our stay. Everything was perfect. We met him only when we arrived and left. He was really great- very nice and pleasant guy, offered his help with everything and we felt that he really wants to help us. Eddie was also great before our arrival- was very kind over email, answered all my questions and immediately agreed that we will check out late from the apartment.
Overall- go stay with Eddie. You won't regret it.
Very nice clean apartment! Also very flexible with check in and check out times! Thank you!
This is our painful experience with this "cute" one bedroom apartment. The street is filled with trash, there is gang graffiti down the entire 500 block of 49th Street. There was an intoxicated man on the steps that welcomed us with a bottle in a brown paper bag. He reported that he was a resident in the building. We were emailed by Eddie the day before we left for our trip that we could not let any of the neighbors know we booked the apt. thru the Airbnb website and to say, if asked, that we were friends of Eddie and Angela. We walked down a dark and dirty hall, passing several apartments to our door at the end. Eddie was not there, the cleaning lady let us in. The front door is full of dents around the door knob and lock as if someone had tried to break in to the apartment. The flooring is torn and disgusting, we had asked for an air mattress, which was flat, with an obvious hole in it. We talked to Eddie on the phone at check, telling him we would not feel comfortable here. We offered to pay for the first couple of nights, but Eddie was unwilling to work with us. This is not a safe place for a family. There is no way we would have walked down this street in the dark, coming home from Broadway plays or Times Square. We chose to get a hotel, and as of two weeks after contacting Airbnb and Eddie, the host, have not gotten a response for a refund. We were told they have a strict cancellation policy, but the images that we saw when we walked up to that apartment are not shown in Eddie's "professional " photo shoot of his"not cute" apartment.
With all due respect, Kevin, your assessment of everything is based on you not liking the street,, lights, graffiti , exaggeration of the building and the apartment conditions. Sorry, but I leave two blocks away, never had any issue with the neighborhood and safety, walking day and night. I understand you're coming from the city of 2000 people, but this iNew York City, Midtown neighborhood, 2 blocks from Times Square. I never had any of my guests saying anything but praises . LET OTHER GUESTS COMMENTS , guest who stayed at my apartment before and after you, speak for itself. Are we talking about the same???
You even questioning authenticy of the Airbnb professional, photographer taken photos , really. Please show me your photos as a proof. Of course you don't have them. I don't want to call the names here but this is disguising and baseless Nothing , absolutely nothing was wrong with the apartment, from amenities, furniture, cleanliness.
Eddie is a very nice person and the apartment is clean and close to the city centre (only a few minutes walk to the subway and times square)
I recommend this apartement for all NYC visitors!!
