Guest Access

You'll have exclusive access to the full apartment. It is private, meaning that I won't come into the apartment during your stay unless I ask you first, and that no one else will stay in the apartment while you are there.

Interaction with Guests

As much as needed. I'm usually there to check you in and to show you the apartment. If I can't be there, then my wife, or my brother or his wife will let you in.
Generally I'll check in on the guests the next morning to make sure that they're all set with directions and transportation.
I live upstairs, so I'm very accessible in person, or via phone or email.

The Neighborhood

Great restaurants and bars
cool shops (for example, Ample Hills = organic, creative ice cream, or the Olde Brooklyn Bagel Shoppe, which makes fresh, awesome bagels every day!)
beautiful tree-lined streets
old brownstone houses
friendly people
lots of families
close to three subway lines
Brooklyn Beaches are only 45 minutes away via the subway. Great way to have a "rest" day from sightseeing.
five blocks from Prospect Park (which has a 5K loop, I run there every day)

Getting Around

Yes! We are close to three subway lines:
- Q (yellow) and B (orange); three blocks away
- 2/3 (red); five blocks away
- C (blue); seven blocks away

Getting here from the Airports is easy:
JFK: Taxi ($35/4 people), AirTrain & Subway ($7/person)
LaGuardia: Taxi ($30/4 people)
Newark: Taxi ($75/4 people)

I have detailed taxi and public transportation directions which I can email you.

Other Things to Note

People are always very happy with the apartment and the help and advice I can provide if needed (since I live upstairs).
Also, being a musician (as well as my wife and my brother and his wife), I can suggest good places to hear music, from jazz to pop and rock.

I'm from California and Austria, have been living in NYC since 1998. I'm a musician. I love living in Brooklyn, because it seems to be the perfect combination of small town and big city, Europe and the US, friendly neighborhood feel and cosmopolitan attitude.
