About this listing
This is a great little space to rent for short or long term. It is quite self-contained yet open to the rest of the house. I live upstairs with my partner David and my quiet and easy 10 year-old son Christopher part-time. Welcome to our home!
Located just 2 blocks from Baker Street, the house ideally situated just a 2 minute walk to all downtown amenities, a short walk to the beach and rails to trails foot and bicycle path, and a short drive to the ski hill.
I intentionally designed this room to share our home! I have rented to short and long-term guests and love meeting people from other places.
It is a sweet little space, all compact and bright, with a built-in double futon bed and seagrass baskets underneath for extra storage. There is a kitchenette with many appliances, an ensuite bathroom with shower, and in-floor heat throughout. Laundry facilities, wifi, and bicycles are all available.
Guests also enjoy reading or using their laptops on the spacious main floor bay window with its comfy QS bed and multitude of pillows. The alcove looks into the perennial garden with fruit trees and fountain, and life passing by on Stanley Street.
We also have 2 large but friendly Rhodesian Ridgeback hounds who have their own house outside!
Fiona is a clay artist and handmade bookmaker who teaches private and group classes. David is a thespian who loves anything film and theatre. 10 year-old Christopher is an avid reader who also attends the local french school.
We live in the most awesome neighbourhood, just 2 blocks from fabulous downtown Nelson! We live just around the corner from Nelson's most famous coffee shop, Oso Negro, and the same distance in the other direction from the Public Library. Forest trails and beaches are reachable within a 15 minute walk. Come explore!
This is my home and I love it so I hope you do too. There's handmade pottery, creative work spaces, garden nooks, hammocks in summer, and lots to discover on site and beyond! I often host potluck dinners with friends and guests so it's an ever-expanding micro community.
I spent 2 months in this home in Nelson. I loved my cocoon. Really close to town where I went to work everyday with my computer in the multiple cafés and restaurants. I felt really welcomed in Fiona's and David's home. You can't see from the pictures, but in the summer you'll discover a peaceful garden full of flowers once you pass the front fence.

I spent lovely days with Fiona and her family. It was my first Airbnb experience and I liked it!
She is a wonderful woman, when I arrived she was very busy but she took a time to talk to me about her and the Nelson's style life :) She showed me her awesome studio and she teach me how to draw on the ceramic! I felt like a member of the family.
The room is very nice, you have your own kitchen and bathroom!
I felt very well with her, and I definitely recommend her !
Fiona, Brian and Christopher were lovely hosts. The space was private and I appreciate the kitchen option but I was also welcomed
upstairs and made to feel very much at home. The house and gardens are beautiful and both Fiona and Brian are artists who are passionate about their work. Nice to be there with "woofers" as well.
Fiona, Brian, and their son Kip were friendly and welcoming right from the get-go. I stayed with them for about 5 days and loved every minute. We shared wine and travel stories, Kip and I played LEGOs, and I went hiking with their cool WWOOFer Yumi from Japan. The room was clean, comfortable and very bright. The bed was firm and comfortable. The house is only 2 blocks away from Baker St and a block away from Nelson's coolest coffee shop Oso Negro so it's location is ideal. Nelson is a beautiful town and Fiona and her family are beautiful people.
I have stayed with Fiona and her wonderful family (including the awesome dogs) for 3 weeks. The Browns are such a warm and loving family, I felt immediately at home! You can ask them everything at any time and they will help you as could as they can.
The house they built is absolutely fabulous and situated 2 blocks from Bakersteet. My room was very clean and my bed was excellent.
So I can truly say that my stay with the Brows was heartwarming and I definitely come back to visit you guys!
Mis you all!
I loved my stay at Fiona's gorgeous self-contained suite in her beautiful family home, and I loved meeting Fiona and her wonderful family. Fiona welcomed me warmly and instantly made me feel so at home. Fiona is a very interesting, talented and accomplished woman and artist and it was a delight to chat with her, and she is very kind, caring and accommodating. The suite is very well equipped with stove, fridge, coffee maker, toaster, and plenty more for cooking needs, and the suite is also very private, you can come and go as you please without disturbing anyone. The location is fantastic! Just a minute or two walk and you're right in the heart of town and all the amazing restaurants and Cafes in Baker Street.
I miss Fiona and her beautiful family and I look forward to my next visit to Nelson already.

About the Host, Fiona
I love to travel, connect with people, share life experiences, and create art. I live with my son Christopher and 2 rambunctious Rhodesian Ridgeback hounds. I love to hike mountains, walk in the forest, cycle long distances, cross-country and skate ski, ride horses, dance, create beautiful spaces, dig in the garden, build things out of wood and found objects, make pottery and handmade books, draw, design, recycle and upcycle, read, learn languages, laugh. I love to swim in clean lakes, swing in hammocks, add to cairns, create art with children, make masks and dress up, eat vegetarian food, follow a 100 mile diet, and maintain a low environmental footprint.
