"Middle Bear" is just one mile east of town, five minute walk to beach at Hinckley Lane and near the Westmoor Club and Madaket bike path. Owned by the same family since the 50's, it's ideal for gatherings with large living room and 4 bedrooms. Two king size beds in BR's #1 and #2, three have two twins. Old fashion kitchen has counter with 6 stools. 3 bedrooms in south end served by one bathroom, and the 4th bedroom is at the north end served by bathroom off the kitchen. Sleeps 6 or 8.

The space
Great location near town, bike path and local beach. Fun, classic summer house "the way Nantucket used to be" that is ideal for couples vacation or family gatherings. Large living room and four bedrooms, large lawn for badminton and outdoor games. Garage is full of bikes, beach chairs, games, boogey boards, umbrellas, etc.

Guest access
Whole house is for rent. Garage is not included. Plenty of parking. Ferry reservations can be challenging so be sure to make them well ahead of time! It is not a problem to get here first and have the car follow. Just take a cab or Uber to Stop & Shop, then a cab to "Middle Bear". Steamship will call you when car is on island.

Other things to note
We have tons of beach chairs, towels, coolers, umbrellas, etc. so you don't need to bring them. We also have a bunch of old bikes and helmets, if needed. If you're an avid cyclist, better bring your own! No central A/C but family uses house during July and August. June, September and October on Nantucket usually don't require A/C (when property is available on AirBnB). But there are two window units and lots of fans. If you MUST have A/C - this might not be the place for you.

Neighborhood is terrific because it's away from the hustle and bustle of town, but only a mile away. Easy to walk or bike to town or Something Natural for sandwiches. Bike path is right off the driveway, and Hinkley Lane beach is just a 5 minute walk. Conservation walks are right down the road. Westmoor Club is virtually next door if you are here for a wedding at the Westmoor Club.

Eric grew up summers on Nantucket (in "Middle Bear" - the house now listed!!) and moved year-around to the island over 25 years ago. He is an internationally recognized artist with a gallery on Old South Wharf and in his home at 5 Pine Street. He and his wife, Betsy, are involved with many not-for-profits on the island, and can be usually found in the summer out sailing in "Owl" or fishing. They love Nantucket and hope their guests in the family home will also enjoy the island; its beaches, restaurants, back roads and cultural offerings.
