  • Nice place to stay for few days! I was lucky to have the room in the last floor because there is a nice "balcon".
It's a little be noice because of subway station near but if you want subway at proximity it's a good place (2min walking).
Mr Toshi is there to help you if you have question!
Nice experience and i feel like home there!
    Thank you Mr Toshi!

  • Toshi was a super helpful host in terms of recommendations about the neighborhood, which is definitely interesting. The instructions given were extremely clear so you can prepare your trip serenely.

The place is very conveniently located near Koenji JR station, 10 minutes from Shinjuku. You can see this as both an asset and a drawback if you cannot cope with the noise.

  • A very nice little Japanese hostel in a perfect location, with very good service tanks to Toshi.

Since it is located right in the centre next to the station is a little noisy, but it wasn't as noisy as I expected.

  • A warm room in cold weather. Koenji Place was a comfortable stay with very warm and helpful hosts. Good value for your money.

  • stayed 2 wintry nights in a clean and cosy single room on the highest floor of the apartment. 'noise' from the railway was ambient at most and never bothered me. hosts were uber friendly and attentive, check-in/out was fuss-free. location can't be beat. apt is a stone's throw (under a min walk) from koenji station, which is in turn only a couple of stops from shinjuku. great value, will return fo' sure.

  • I stayed in Koenji Place for 10 nights and really enjoyed my stay.
I like the fact that its only 2 stops away from Shinjuku on the Chuo Rapid Line and just a 2 minute walk from the station.

( Note that the Chuo Rapid Line is only available on weekdays as it will skip 2 stations from Shinjuku and go straight to Nakano followed by Koenji. On weekends you have to take the Chuo Local line. It won't skip any stations, thus making Koenji the 4th stop from Shinjuku. Another point to take note is if you're taking the morning train to Shinjuku on weekdays, be prepared for the infamous Tokyo rush hour. Getting on the train will definitely be a challenge but its all part of the Tokyo experience! )

Finding food is not an issue as there are plenty of small eateries, restaurants, izakayas, bars, convenience stores around the area. There's even a KFC and McDonalds.

There's a total of 8 rooms in Koenji Place and the room i stayed was the last of the 2 situated on the rooftop terrace just next to the shower & laundry area. Although i could hear the station announcements, karaoke singing, people chatting on the streets when i'm chilling on the rooftop, the noise didn't really bother me once i'm in my room.

The room is small, which is typical of what one would expect in Tokyo but i find it cosy enough for a single traveller like me due to its efficient usage of space with ample storage areas. ( not sure about the twin sharing rooms cos they might be a bit too small depending on individual comfort levels )

Safety is not as issue as both the main door & room doors are equipped with numerical locks. You set your own password for your room door which makes it safe & convenient.

The hosts are friendly and helpful although you wont see them most of the time but they're readily contactable if you need any assistance.

To sum it up, the Koenji area has a nice laid back, quaint neighborhood vibe which is quite distinctive and pleasant to explore on its own. I would definitely recommend Koenji Place for the single traveller looking for a affordable yet convenient place to stay in Tokyo and would gladly stay there again on my next visit!

  • I had a good time in Koenji. The place is really small and noisy because of the station but if it's short stay it's really convenient.

  • Great location, easy to find (after having it pointed out first by staff) and room is in great shape with A/C unit for each room. Keyless system makes for an additional bonus.

  • The location is incredible, same goes for Toshi. I'll be booking this place again for my last days in Japan. Thanks,

  • For the price, this is a good place. However, this was completely different from any of my other airbnb experiences: it didn't feel like an apartment at all, but more like a youth hostel with individual rooms.

The noise level from the train station didn't bother me at all, but the noise of the neighbors did a little bit. So do bring some earplugs, especially if you're there over the weekend!

Moreover, do note that to access this particular room, you need to go outside, which was fine as I was there in the spring, but which might be a bit annoying during the winter.

I did appreciate that Koenji Place has some rules to decrease their environmental footprint. I also found the neighborhood to be quite interesting in itself, and close enough to the center.
