Stop reading reviews - book this place now! It's hard to describe how wonderful it is to sit on the terrace and relax with a glass of wine while taking in the view of Modica down below. Although the photos do a decent job!
Everything about the place was wonderful - cleaner than you'd think possible, very helpful parking advice from Amalia, Luca's local partner, and the most comfortable beds you'll find in Italy. Seriously - these are not the spartan beds you find in some places. I'm wishing I had this bed at home!
The location is unbelievable, on a quiet back street in Modica Alta. That said, it's close to several excellent restaurants and a supermarket in Modica Alta and about 5 mins walk from the beautiful San Giorgio Duomo. Be warned that staying in Modica Alta means you'll be walking A LOT of steps. It wasn't a problem for us but I could imagine some guests being put off. Choose Modica Bassa if that's a problem.
If we return to Modica someday - we'll be booking with Luca. Highly recommended!
Fantastic location with views over Modica. Two good sizes bedrooms and finishes in a contemporary style which doesn't loose any of the originality of the historic property.
The host made it very easy to organise our stay and ensured that someone was there to meet us and guide us to the place on arrival. All you need to then do is sit, relax and enjoy the view!
Luca's lovely spot in Modica is situated high above the town on a quiet, charming, cobblestone street. The apartment - on two levels - has a great sense of style and the furnishings and artwork are both attractive and of good quality. The beds were extremely comfortable with lovely linens and the 2 bathrooms were modern, clean and quite attractive.
The kitchen is well-appointed and we found everything we needed for the occasional meal we had at "home". The living space is part of the kitchen area. There is a small terrace off the kitchen/living area and a lovely, larger terrace on the upper level, off of one of the bedrooms.
Amalia was very gracious and quite responsive to our needs and made helpful suggestions to make the most of our 5 days in the Modica area.
