Calico Jack's is located in the heart of the small remote farming village of El Progresso, on a 365-acre private jungle reserve about 16 miles from San Ignacio Town. Our location near the Mountain Pine Ridge provides access to the popular area attractions--Caracol and Rio on the Pools and Barton Creek Cave. Experience the local culture of our rural village, explore the natural beauty of the rain forest we call home, by day or night, or explore the canopy in an exhilarating zip-line adventure.

Everything was as advertised. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and the food was great. If you plan on doing activities on your own, you'll need a car and have to drive seven miles of rocky dirt road to get to this resort which took me about 30-…

Our stay at Calico Jacks, a mainly zip lining adventure site with a few rooms. Our stay at the jungle loft was uneventful, the room was clean a nice size. Yes there is a slow elevator and a ladder which one can use for those less patient, no stairs. I suppose it adds the adventur…

Response from Ydahlia:
We have 2 villas and the jungle loft ( 10 rooms) at Calico Jack's for visitors and can accommodate up to 16 guests. This is a bit above the average capacity of most resorts or lodges in Belize. Government does not provide utilities (electricity, cable tv or internet) to our area and we are fortunate to be able to provide them to our guests at a modest charge.

We were not a good fit for this place. The resort is very far away from anything. We should have rented a vehicle but if we are learning from our mistakes we would have not booked. We were the only guests there the entire six days we stayed. I wish I would have switched places wh…

We do think that your expectations were not in line with what we indicate in our listing and that you might have done more research. Many of our guests are independent budget travelers who have enjoyed their stay and appreciated the attention and service that the team provides. In our listing we indicate that we are located in a small, farming village in the jungle. Fortunately, most of our guests understand that and enjoy the beauty of our location as well as our relatively close proximity to popular attractions such as Caracol, Rio on the Pools, Barton Creek Cave, the Butterfly Farm, horse back riding, cave tubing and ATM. Fortunately, most guests like that we prepare an itinerary for them when they indicate their tour choices and interests. We do encourage guests to rent a vehicle as we recommended to you when you booked. Well in advance of your stay, we provided you with maps, information on buses, and a list of all of our rates for tours and attractions. We also provided information on meals including our tasty, low cost local specials which you appeared to enjoy. We also accommodate your request for cayenne in your oats for breakfast. We did provide you with transfers to Georgeville for only US$10 which is a remarkable rate. We did do our best to explain to you that we charge for some of the services and amenities that we provide like transfers, air conditioning and internet as per our listing when you demanded them or expected them for free--for instance your challenging our need to take a refundable deposit of US$40 for the use of two bicycles for most of the day for your 15 kilometer ride. We note that we did as a courtesy send a vehicle to collect you on the expectation that you would not want to ride back over the rugged dangerous road and regret that in light of this that you felt watched. We wish you well as you explore other new destinations!!!

Great base location for many day trips. Very comfortable stay and nice pool to cool off in after a day of activities. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Maria packed us a lunch to take to Caracol and even provided a cooler!

This is the perfect spot for a launching off point to explore along the Mountain Pine Ridge. We were fortunate enough to have our own rental car, which made traveling to and from Caracol and surrounding points of interest affordable and easy. The resort does offer an array of tou…

Getting to Calico Jacks from the Airport is worth the 2.5 hour drive. You know part or all of your stay in Belize is going to be in the jungle, so why not stay in the middle of the jungle on a private 365 acre resort with all the adventures you dream of in one place. Calico jacks…

Our stay here was amazing and Ydahlia was a fantastic host. The room was clean, private, and had amenities like hot water and air conditioning, which can be hard to find in Belize! The property is beautiful and quiet; a perfect jungle get away. The onsite restaurant had delicious…
