Interaction with Guests
There's minimal interaction with guests. We may greet you but if not, you will be instructed on where to pick up and leave keys after you book.
We are often away during your stay so all interaction will be either via AirBnB message system, phone or email.
We're situated on a quiet, leafy, street only a 5 minute walk from a very long, east facing surf beach called South Golden. On the way to the beach is the local South Golden Shop which has great food & (okay) coffee to dine in or take away.
The neighbourhood is very safe, friendly and has a relaxed beach vibe.
The main beach access has a shower & toilet block, parkland, bbq's, picnic tables, a local hall which has yoga & drumming classes as well as other events and a park for kids.
A 10 minute bike ride up the road ( or 2 minutes in the car) is funky New Brighton another beach side village which has a local general store/post office and the very popular Yum Yum cafe situated under the trees across the road from the river & a bigger children's playground.
There's also a beautiful community garden on Shara Blvde which has some free veges to pick, a giant picnic table & a sandpit for kids. (It's a short walk up to the end of Phillip St, then turn right.)
This house is perfect for those who want to be near Byron Bay or who are visiting for a festival, but would prefer to find a quiet patch of sand to themselves & enjoy a more chilled local environment, rather than the tourist mayhem of Byron Bay.
FESTIVAL GUESTS: There will be a SHUTTLE bus service from South Golden Shop to Byron Bay BLUES FEST and SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS a few times a day.
HOLIDAY GUESTS: Local public transport is very limited. There is one bus to Byron Bay a day. We definitely recommend having a car to enjoy the best that this Rainbow Region has to offer!
There are many world heritage listed areas in the vicinity!
Other Things to Note
**THE PETS: There's a resident super friendly, cuddly Cat called "Jup" who comes & goes through his cat door & just needs his breakfast & dinner served & cat door closed at night if you're about. We also have 3 chickens who have self serve food & water containers. Feel free to give them compost scraps and collect their freshly laid eggs to enjoy!
**We can arrange for a neighbour to feed the pets if you don't want to, however this means they'll have access to the laundry for feeding the cat. Please request this when booking. We sometimes arrange for him to go to a cattery for stays of 4 weeks plus - please request this is you are booking a long stay and don't like cats!
**Please tell me about your group before booking, we do not offer instant booking, and please be aware that we have a strict cancellation policy.
*The house is in a quite residential beach village, so guests must be respectful of neighbours and keep noise down at all times.
*Although we offer this as a festival base, it is not a party house. There are fines for noise complaints.
*This is strictly a non smoking environment.
*Other details are in a house manual which you can request to be emailed before arrival if you wish but you'll find it in the house.
Enjoy the beautiful natural environment & serenity!
By booking this property you agree that all breakages or damage to any household items must be paid for. This will come out of your bond. We rely on your honesty. Please email me asap if you damage or break anything & describe the item or send a photo. If you have booked with Airbnb they automatically return your total bond after 48 hours. If we can’t inform them of the breakage in time, then you will get your full bond back despite a payment needing to be made. So we trust that if anything is broken or damaged and you do get full bond back, we will be able to contact you afterwards to request money for repair/replacement & you will happily oblige. Thank you for your honesty and respect with this matter.
Failure to clean the BBQ is a $50 fee & will be taken out of bond. All cleaning items are under the bbq for you to use to make it really easy ☺
If the cleaner has to do your dishes when you leave, there is also a $25 reduction of bond (as the cleaning fee doesn’t cover her time to do dishes).
Any noise complaints mean we get a $200 council fine. This will be passed onto you & taken out of bond. Please keep windows near stereo closed if you wish to use some volume.
Sorry, but we can't accept other pets.
From Dec 29, 2015 - Jan 17, 2016 the minimum stay is 21 nights.
SGB recreation area. The local hall has yoga & drumming classes & there are bbq's & a kids playground.
About the Host, Emma
Hi! My name is Emma.
Myself and my partner have 2 little children & have been living in Byron Shire for 15 & 20 years respectively, but have both travelled the world before our son was born. As lifelong travellers we like to holiday let our place while we go away, which allows us to offer a great HOME away from home for others to enjoy.
We love travelling to meet people, soak up the energies of foreign places and learn about other cultures ways of living.
To me travelling is all about the people and the food! Oh and of course gorgeous beaches :)
I enjoy learning how to live, love and grow each day in a conscious way. Our garden is filled with vege patches & fruit trees & we run on solar power. We try to tread lightly on this planet and share good energy with others.
My motto: "Live a life you love and if you don't love it, then change it!"
