1 BR View Condo Steps From Ocean!

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Alii Drive, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740, United States

The Space

On the ocean side of Alii Drive and nestled among tropical foliage, your Kona condo awaits.

The 650-square-foot condo is on the ground floor with a partial view of the ocean from the lanai and the living room. The Alii Villas complex fronts onto a lava rock beach and several sandy beaches are within a short distance, but you may choose to stay on site and enjoy the beautiful (heated) pool, also with an ocean view. There is a snorkeling spot in front of the complex with a flat area in the lava where you can sit in beach chairs and enjoy the sun and the view after snorkeling.

The condo has a queen bed in the bedroom and a single daybed which can be made up with a folding futon mattress for a child or small adult in the living room. A portable playpen is available for mini travelers. All linens are provided, as are towels, beach towels, boogie boards, snorkel gear, beach chairs and coolers. The full kitchen has everything you will need to prepare meals, making restaurants optional.

Internet access, cable TV, washer and dryer, and even two bicycles for popping into town will help you make the most of your time in Kona. You will be close enough (1 mile) to Kailua town to take advantage of its many shops and restaurants, but far enough away to escape the noise and the crowds. Alii Villas is a quiet complex with a high percentage of permanent residents.

A trolley goes up and down Alii Drive and we will provide a schedule for that, and also for the cross-island buses. However, we recommend renting a car as many of Kona's attractions (beautiful beaches, snorkeling spots, historical sites, volcano) are best reached by car. Also, you'll save the substantial cost of a taxi to and from the airport. Your designated parking space is just outside the unit.

Our notebook of instructions, directions and recommendations has been compared to a guidebook, so it's likely you'll have no need to call or see us. But if the unexpected happens, we are only a phone call and 10 minutes away.

Because the condo is less than 100 feet from the ocean and we have year 'round cooling breezes, it does not have air conditioning. Also, there is no telephone in the condo.

Because airbnb does not collect Hawaii State Tax, the 13.5 percent tax is not included in the quoted price and is payable upon arrival.

Come join us in paradise!

  • We had a lovely stay and this cute little condo. Nicely furnished with lots of updated appliances. Only negative was the bedroom backs onto the parking area so some noise from the cars and people upacking. Lovely except for that small infrequent disturbance.

  • My wife and I could not have had a better stay, though unfortunately we didn't get to meet Christina and Dan. The place was perfect, though probably a 20 or 30-minute walk to Downtown Kona depending on fitness level, etc., which didn't bother us since we liked the quiet. You could see whales sometimes from the benches across the lot from our lanai (probably from the condo too if you have binocs). We swam with dolphins down at Two Step, just a 45-minute drive south, using the snorkel gear provided by the hosts, which worked well. All in all a wonderful condo on a wonderful island.

  • To start with I want to say I can find nothing to complain about with regards to this home or our host! It was a joy to stay here and we would return without hesitation. Though we did not meet her, Christina radiates aloha spirit not just via her communication but by all the little extras she makes available to make your stay enjoyable. This place is a home not just a condo. We were concerned re their being no air conditioning but the rooms are large with plenty of airflow and my concerns were unfounded. Great kitchen and big fridge with plenty of utensils. On top of this there is a BBQ area near the pool with high quality webber BBQ s and views of the ocean. This area overlooks the pool which would be great for parents wanting to grill while the kids are swimming. We brought our meals back to our own private lanai as it too has views of the ocean and watching humpback whales during your meal is not uncommon during the season. There is a nice garden around the Lanai which helps maintain your privacy. There is a beautiful pool on the property which we saw other guests enjoying but which we didn't try out. The cleanliness of the complex and gardens was very good and other guests were very considerate with regards to noise in the evenings which was great. Christina supplies a lot of extras for guests to use with this unit such as games, decks of cards, music CDs, snorkelling gear, push bikes, beach towels and mats, cooler boxes, beach chairs and some great books as well. If we ever get exiled to a deserted island I want this lady to pack my bags! There is a great clothes washer and drier and as others have said it is terrific to have these machines in your unit. We did not find the bath slippery as others have mentioned but there is a non slip bathmat provided. There was plenty of storage space in the bedroom and wonderful ventilation with strong secure louvre windows. Overhead fans provide good airflow. Getting back to the kitchen the stove was large and of good quality. Terrific little toaster oven is also supplied which was great for breakfasts. There is a dish washing machine in the unit as well. The large sliding doors leading to the lanai have a great security locking system. These doors also have good quality vertical blinds that ensure your privacy when closed. Overall we found this condo to be very private which was great. Christina left out tasty treats when we arrived which was a lovely start to our stay. As there were no guests prior to our arrival or immediately after our departure Christina gave us an early check in and late check out which was very kind indeed and much appreciated. Finally location is terrific. This is certainly one of the better condos in the complex as it is...

  • This condo is a wonderful place to stay, very well decorated and clean with everything you might need in an idyllic location near the sea. Christina and her husband are also extremely friendly and helpful and very interesting to talk to. I highly recommend this place for a great holiday.

  • The condo was great for our week in Kona. You can watch the sunset right out the patio door. Town is just a mile down the road with restaurants and shops. Christina provided us with bicycles, snorkel gear, beach towels and even some treats! I would highly recommend her place. It is in a condo complex with a pool and so many nice neighbors!

  • Check-in and check-out was seamless and apartment was nice and clean. There was even a little welcome snack of Mauna Loa Macadamia nuts waiting for us. The place is located walking distance to small little downtown area which we really enjoyed. We really enjoyed our stay. The host was also super generous and even gave us a little wedding gift. I would recommend staying here.

  • A very pleasurable experience. Christina was very available to answer my questions and her welcome binder is very informative. Her place is clean and tidy with little extras of fruit and drinks left in the refrigerator. I appreciated her thoroughness and attention to detail. I will tell all my friends to look for her places when they come to visit.

My husband and I retired to the fabulous Big Island of Hawaii after traveling the world for 25 years with the Department of State Foreign Service. We have lived in China, Serbia, Luxembourg and Italy. Here in Hawaii we live an active lifestyle and love to kayak, run and hang out at the beach with our dogs. We feel so privileged to live in Hawaii and love to share our beautiful island with guests.
