  • Our first time in a B&B and we loved it! Fabulous house, and perfect hosts. Gloria and Rich are friendly, vivacious and interesting. The food was yummy and there was really good coffee.

And the bed.... I'll just have to say that we slept like babies!

  • Rich and Gloria were absolutely amazing!! They made us feel completely at home, and we just loved every minute! We didn't want to leave!! The room was beautiful, and the bed amazingly comfortable! Breakfast was absolutely delicious, with a huge variety of food and fruits. Gloria went out of her way to make us feel at home and making sure we were happy and comfortable. She was very knowledgable and have us great tips on where to go on Saturday morning. If we ever go back to Philly we most deffinately will be going back to stay with them! Would reccommend to everyone! 5plus stars!! Thanks for everything, Ana and Stine!

  • Such a FANTASTIC stay! This home was really beautiful, with great history, charm, and character to it- which is why we use Airbnb! Rich and Gloria's place was Airbnb at it's best- a beautiful and home, a delicious breakfast (as it's an actual b&b), a fantastic room with all the amenities, a very fair rate, and in a good location.

Rich and Gloria were the kindest, nicest, and most accommodating hosts you could ask for, not to mention funny! They provided us a room that was perfect for us- a tv with dvd player for the movies we always bring along, an attached bathroom that we were able to put our baby in her pack and play in, and a wonderfully comfortable/soft queen bed. Breakfast was equally great as Gloria made us an array of foods to eat and some ginger tea for me as I wasn't feeling well that morning.

The place was in a local suburb of Philadelphia it seemed, close enough for us to drive and not to far away from the local attractions like Independence Hall- about a 10 minute drive, so a great location!

We would highly recommend a stay here with Rich and Gloria and plan to visit again the next time we're in Philly!

    Response from Rich And Gloria:

Thank you Whitney for taking the time to write such a positive review! it was our pleasure to host you all. Please do come back and stay with us again.

Although our home is located with-in the city limits of Philadelphia (Germantown is in the NW section of the city), the beautiful old single homes and open park- like settings do indeed make it feel like you are in a suburb of the city!

    Thanks again,
    Rich & Gloria

  • Enjoyed nearly a week in this beautiful, large 1850s home. The bed was the most cushy bed ever. I was surprised that she tidied the room every day. Breakfasts around a very formally set table were nice, too.

  • I had such a good time at Rich & Gloria's place! It was clean, comfortable, and they were excellent hosts. Gloria is AMAZING! What a wonderful, special person. She took me into her kitchen and fed me her outstanding Italian cooking, showed me how to make a dish, and I had so much fun! She also made a delicious quiche for breakfast!! I didn't want to leave ;)

  • This will certainly be our go-to place whenever we visit our family in Philly. Gloria and Rich couldn't have been better hosts. Gloria offered to make us breakfast each morning but coffee and a piece of her delicious home baked fruit tart or pound cake was enough for us. There is off-street parking that we really appreciated. Our room with the half-bath was lovely with interesting furniture. The bed with the foam topper and fine linens was great to get into after a long day. A large, well-appointed full bath is on the second floor. We highly recommend this place for any length of stay. Hope you will enjoy the interesting neighborhood with the grand old homes.

  • Rich and Gloria were great hosts! I took them off on their offer for airport transportation - Rich was already at the airport waiting for me when my plane arrived. He works as a tour guide, so as he drove me to the house, I got to hear a lot of interesting tidbits about Philadelphia. The room was excellent - large size, extremely comfortable bed, HD TV, good WiFi, plenty of towels, blankets, storage space, etc. They even though to add a lock to the outside of the door to lock up your personal belongings when you're not around - very thoughtful!

Gloria also went out of her way to cook me dinner one night, which was incredibly delicious. Her breakfasts were also great, and she is very accommodating with lots of different breakfast options. There are other tenants in the house that are staying more long term and are very friendly.

The one piece of advice I would give is to make sure you pay close attention when they show you how to work the bolt on the front door! I felt silly when I wasn't able to let myself out of the house because I couldn't get it to unlock :)

I would highly recommend this room and these excellent hosts!

  • What a great experience! Rich and Gloria welcomed me into their home and immediately treated me like royalty. Within the first 30 minutes Rich's passion for his beloved Philadelphia, and its rich history was evident and we quickly found ourselves in deep discussion about early historical events. This was a highlight for me as the details that Rich provided added wonderful layers to my understanding of events. Needless to say, I booked Rich for a city tour the next day and got all the good info in one packed tour. Highly recommend the tour! Gloria is a talented, generous and very caring person who spoilt me with great food and an amazing breakfast. She even left me a sandwich for my early morning departure! She is a lovely lady and worth taking the time for a chat. Finally, the bed in The Garden Room is the softest and most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! At these reasonable prices, a stay with Rich and Gloria is better value than any hotel. Highly recommended.

  • Our stay with Rich and Gloria was very pleasurable. Gloria made us feel like we were staying with family, only better! The room was beautiful, the food was delicious and the other guests were wonderful breakfast company. We found the location much better than staying in the downtown area yet very close. Even their beloved companion Rocky was a gentleman. I would highly recommend the Villa Anna to anyone looking for more than a "hotel" type experience.

Thank you for the kind words regarding your stay with us at our B&B, Villa Anna. Our dog "Rocky" misses you both already!
    Thanks again!

  • We had a large, elegant room, full of lovely furnishings and a very comfy cozy bed, in a beautiful historic home. Rich and Gloria were warm, welcoming hosts. Gloria prepared delicious breakfasts in a beautifully appointed dining room, and Rich gave us a great tour of Philadelphia, plus a bonus trip to one of the best places to get an authentic Philly cheesesteak! We highly recommend their B&B, and also Rich's tour, which gave us information we would never have gotten otherwise. It brought Philadelphia alive for us.
