Beautifully appointed and welcoming two bedroom timber cottage located in leafy Highgate Hill, Brisbane.
The entry deck overlooks a large front garden, perfect place to enjoy my superb coffee and breakfast. My home boasts plenty of light and cooling cross breezes, polished hoop pine floors, persian rugs and a comfy King lounge. The fully covered back deck opens onto a private garden shaded by an enormous poinciana tree where you're more than welcome to kick back, put your feet up, daydream, or doze.
And if you must stay plugged in...it's fibre optic, lightning fast, and wireless.
I'll be here to greet you and give you the grand tour,
which takes precisely 1 minute and 48 seconds if my flow is not interrupted.
Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as you like..... but if you allow me to serve you breakfast I'll expect a smile.
Highgate Hill is a vibrant, elevated inner city suburb, with neighbouring West End being THE place for restaurants, cafes, bars, great shopping and the best Saturday open air fresh food and art/craft market around. A 3 minute walk takes you to the nearest bus stop, a 20 minute walk will find you in the heart of Southbank Entertainment and Arts Precinct....
GOMA-Gallery of Modern Art
QPAC-QLD Performing Arts Centre
Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre
Rivercat and cruises,
and CBD shopping, QUT Gardens Point campus and Brisbane Botanical Gardens just across the bridge.
Queensland University (UQ) campus is just a short walk through picturesque Dutton Park and across the Green Bridge spanning the Brisbane River.
Getting around this wonderful city is easy....happy to point you in the right direction!
Other Things to Note
I can accommodate no more than two people at a time, and offer a private room with a comfy queen bed for couples, or single beds if you're on your own, or travelling and sharing with a mate you don't necessarily want to share a bed with!
I understand...you're close, but not THAT close!
Although I don't have a minimum stay requirement, I welcome multiple night stays and am happy to offer a discounted rate for bookings exceeding 3 nights.
You may also Airbnb my 'Entire Home', accommodating up to 4 people..... the only downside is I'm not there to make and serve you breakfast.
There's also a minimum stay of 5 nights.
Please check availability on my other listing: 'Inner City Oasis'
only one....be nice!
This is far and away my best AirBNB experience thus far. Melina's house was gorgeous of course and well positioned but it was Melina herself that made the stay so great. I was only there for 3 nights but Melina picked me up and dropped me off when I left, made the most delicious breakfasts and fabulous coffee. She is a gem of a person, we had the most interesting conversations - felt like I'd known her my whole life by the time I left. If you're just after a bed in a great place, then Brisbane Inner City Oasis will be perfect anyway, but if you're after the full AirBNB host experience, certainly look no further than this - you will not find better.
I blushed at reading your review sonia... thank you.
but you must realise that my congeniality was easily elicited by your own delightful qualities..... with others of a less amenable nature I'm an absolute b*#**@! ...ha!
I'm gonna try real hard to visit you in your beautiful part of the world!
Glad I only had a day to explore Brisbane as I otherwise would probably just have indulged into this oh so airy, in every detail furnished and decorated Oasis - truly a retreat to rejuvenate, relax... in almost total tranquility only steps ( a short bus ride) away from the central parts of the city. Always welcomed & entertained ( or the other way around?..) by Oscar and Mr.! Darcy - her two cats you'll find lounging in the most extraoridinary ways - Thanks heaps, all the best to you Melina (& family)- Cheers, Ilka
Melina was a welcoming and generous host and her little house is very well furnished and fitted out. It has a terrific outdoor dining area in a lovely garden at the back, and space to eat on her front verandah too. The location is well served by public transport and Melina very kindly drove me to my place of business and even collected me again on several occasions. This was very welcome and way in excess of my expectations. We shared many interests in common and I had a great stay.
Had a very pleasant time at Melina's place with great food and conversation. The house and garden also provided a nice, easy going place to chill.
Thanks again Melina ;-)
I have only had positive experiences with airbnb and Melina tops them all. She is a warm and giving host and her home was a beautiful, peaceful oasis that made you feel so welcome. Melina provided a creative breakfast and makes amazing coffee - thank you! She did everything to make my stay comfortable and stress free. We swapped ideas and stories and my 3 night stay was over too soon - I would love to return.
Melina is such an amazing host, that saying "Host with the most" definitely applies to her.
We arrived to her beautiful house and felt like we just walked into our house again.
Her house is so inviting and relaxing and i could have stayed there all day.
She had to go to the markets in the morning, however she left a lovely breakfast for us with was delicious!!!
Thank you so much Melina, we will definitely stay with you again.

I'm a mother of three adult kids, a space planner and designer of interiors and landscapes.
I have a passion for resilient design, potted gardens, espresso and cats, not necessarily in that order.
I've been told I'm a damn fine cook....my Greek upbringing may have had something to do with that.
I've travelled quite a bit over the years, but there are many, many more people and places in the world I intend to meet and see!
Although an experienced home exchanger, these are relatively early days for me as an airbnb host.
I adore everything about Airbnb, as a supporter of a sharing economy, as a guest, and particularly as a host, where I'm able to indulge my enthusiasm for all things 'home'.....
