Where to begin...the experience at Robert's place was truly unforgettable. Ernie the housekeeper was completely magic, from start to finish. He gave us the complete lowdown on the house, the neighborhood, places not to miss, attended to our every need but gave us our privacy, and was just a total sweetheart. The flat itself is beautiful and lavish and unique--such a treat to be somewhere with such character in a neighborhood we might never have seen if we had gone a traditional route. The neighborhood is a blast, and not too far from central hotspots (we walked to the French Quarter the first day). Lots of fun food spots, antique/thrift shops and a great hole in the wall market (the Orange Door???). Frady's solved my mom's quest for the perfect muffaletta and shrimp po' boy, and there were vegan options for me at a number of places (Cake, and Surrey--a bit out of the neighborhood, but Satsuma and Pizza Delicious within walking distance and all terrific for everyone). I could go on forever, but the main point is STAY HERE if you can! Such loveliness all around!
We had a wonderful experience staying in this New Orleans home. This was my first time with Air BnB, and I'm afraid I might be spoiled now. Robert and Ernie were great hosts, and Ernie took incredible care of us. He cleaned the place everyday, including fresh towels and sheets. And the stocked waters were a life saver after each day walking around the hot city. The location is good, with several places to eat nearby, and is about a mile walk from Frenchman street. Bus, Taxi and Uber were also easy ways to get around. I highly recommend this place for your stay in New Orleans.
I stayed here with two other friends for a total of four days. We had arrived in town earlier than the check-in time, but Rob was accommodating and allowed us to leave our luggage at the property beforehand. We were greeted by Ernie the housekeeper, he was incredibly helpful and showed us everything around the house. We had fresh towels, fresh bedsheets, snacks stocked for us in the house each day. Ernie even drew a neighborhood map and provided us with recommendations of where to eat and nearby places we could visit.
The property is located in the Bywater neighborhood, there were many wonderful little restaurants and shops within a few minutes walk nearby. Very accessible to French Quarter and Central Business District. If you don't mind a longer walk, they are pretty easy to walk to, otherwise it's a short bus or cab ride away. This was our first time in New Orleans and we had a great time. Rob and Ernie were very hospitable and it made our stay even more enjoyable. Thanks for being awesome hosts!
This place is truly magical. First of all it is ture New Orleans the house was built in 1866 and its a awesome house. I loved the jacuzzi tub at the end of the day . I don't think you can find a more thoughtful soul then Ernie. All the things that they provide at the house from water which was greatly appreciated to snacks was wonderful.
Also the location of the house is perfect to our favorite location in all of New Orleans , Frenchman Street. You could literally go into 15 different bars and listen to some of the best musicians that I've ever heard. And the restaurants that were with in the neighborhood are excellent. THANKS AGAIN when we get back to New Orleans that's definitely where we're staying.
We loved our stay!!!! House is beautiful and Ernie is a dream. Make sure to tip him because he does a lot to make sure you are comfortable! Fresh sheets and towels everyday. We didnt realize this listing didnt have a stove but there are two mini fridges so we were alright :) The house was farther than expected from downtown but Uber just came out in NOLA so we took 7 dollar rides downtown...and this way we could not worry about drinking and driving! Very cute resturant around the house...Bootys, Maurapas, and Pizza Delicious!!! The lady next door has dogs that bark a lot in the mornings but wasn't too bad...we would definitely return. Also do yourself a favor and go eat at Katies on Iberville road...you will thank me later!
