Check In
  • My wife and I were treated like family by Rolf and Karin. We were actually sad to leave after our 2-day stay in their beautiful house. The accomodations are better than in a 5-star lodging. Karin designed the house and Rolf, an experienced builder, built it using first class materials. It is the type of house that you read about in House and Garden magazines. Our very spacious bedroom has a very, very comfortable bed, and a big closet as well as other furniture. Our bathroom has beautiful tiled floor, walls, a huge walk-in shower, and designer fixtures of the very best quality.
Every morning Karin laid out for us a superb breakfast with fresh eggs from their chickens, salmon, cold cuts, cheese, yoghurt, and home made breads baked by Rolf, for whom baking is a special interest and hobby.
Consider yourself very fortunate indeed if you will also make a stop in Oropi and be hosted by Rolf and Karin!!!

  • Rolf's house was wayyyyyy more than we expected!! Even though we arrived late, his lovely wife and dog greeted us warmly. The house is GORGEOUS! -- and built exclusively by Rolf (a carpenter in Germany for many years). The floor tile are heated thoughout the house and the view from the garden is tremendous. The next morning Rolf gave us hints about the nearest petrol station and the best route to matamata. The German breakfast was delicious with great bread, and homemade kiwi jam, with veggies (abaca do and tomato) from their garden, and eggs from their hens. English is a second language for Rolf and his wife but their spoken and written English is so good that this was never a problem. We left refreshed and would return to Rolf's home and the winding hills of this region again at the next opportunity.

  • We had a great stay at Rolf's place in a very nice and clean room with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was superb and the German breakfast was outstanding.
Looking forward to staying there again.

Hi I am a German too, living 10 years in NZ and like nature, fishing and my lovely house with garden incl. 5 chucks and one dog. I like people from different countries who come with their stories. It is like a little holiday for us is well. Kind Regards Rolf& Karin
