Nicely furnished 3rd floor bedroom and shared bathroom in the beautiful Art Museum area of Philadelphia. Share our roof deck, kitchen, and neighborhood! Easily in walking distance of Art Museum, Mutter Museum, Eastern State Penitentiary, Franklin Institute, and dozens of shops, cafes, restaurants, and markets.
The room has a Queen-size bed, a full-size sofa bed and an available air mattress, allowing up to 5 people to sleep comfortably. It also contains a chest of drawers, a standing wardrobe, a microwave, a small refrigerator, a television and Blu-ray player for movies (we have no cable TV). There is also a permanently installed air conditioner and portable space heaters. There is a cute shared bathroom outside the room on the same floor, as well as access to a large, shared deck.
We have a brand-new, high efficiency washer and dryer which are open for you to use.
Interaction with Guests
We all have different schedules so it's not guaranteed that you will meet everyone. But I (Naomi) work from home so I will be around. Feel free to hang out downstairs or eat dinner with us. We are all friendly.
We are located in the beautiful section of Art Museum and Fairmount. Museums, eateries, coffee shops, groceries, and drug stores are all within a 5-minute walk. The area is safe and well-lit at night. We highly suggest visiting the historic Eastern State Penitentiary, now a museum, only 3 blocks away. It looks like a European castle that was dropped right in the middle of modern Philadelphia.
This city is very walkable and easily navigated. We are on and near many SEPTA and Big Bus Tour routes. The cabs are abundant in our area and a bike shop is located within several blocks if you are interested in renting one.
Other Things to Note
For an extra $10 a night, you can reserve the attached, covered parking spot in the back of our house. There is free parking within the area which can be easily found during the day, but after 5pm it gets difficult and you are not always guaranteed a close or un-timed spot.
There are two cats in the house. They are a little skittish but friendly and they are not allowed into your room, so don't worry if you're not much of a cat person.
While we do love to have people over, please be mindful of our work and sleep habits and be respectful of our home.
Your room is right above one of our rooms and the floor does creek a bit. Please keep in mind that the floor is not completely sound-proof.
Quiet hours are between 11pm and 8am, unless otherwise specified.
Smoking is NOT permitted within the house or on the deck.
All the rooms in the second floor are off limits, since they are bedrooms and bathrooms belonging to other residents of the house.
We do not allow any additional pets within our house.
The room was clean and big enough for 5 people. Charlie welcomed us, was easily reachable and gave us advice about things to visit in Philly. We really enjoyed the Eastern State Penitentiary!! The house is close to the Museum of Art but quite far from downtown, though the neighborhood is really nice. Thanks a lot for our stay!
Le logement correspond entièrement à la description qui en est donnée, idem pour le quartier (même pas 5mins de la Barnes). L'accueil était très spontané, avec plein de bonnes recommandations à la clé.
DinoHaus is located in an excellent position in the centre of Philadelphia. Since I had to work in the Museum of Art it was simply perfect. I met only a couple of the persons living there; they welcomed me warmly and were very kind, giving all information I asked them. The bedroom is huge, sunny and absolutely quiet during the night. I can say I relaxed there and I had a good stay. Sadly, the cleaning was in general just acceptable and the house cold (but lukily I was provided with an electric stove, that was so useful).
Our experience was soo wonderful here!! Dinohaus has little odds and ends that may be needed for a stay like shampoo, towels, access to the kitchen for those late night spoons for ice cream! We were very impressed and would definitely stay here again
Really great hosts that took me on a bike tour around town and invited me to join their social gatherings. Due to the cold weather, the house and room were a little chilly at times, but they provided a space heater to keep me comfy.
The room is really large and comfortable, very clean and nice. It's a little cold but the portable heater is provided. Guys are really welcoming and nice, and always respect your privacy. The neighborhood is clean and safe, really close to most of the museums and Logan Square.
