About this listing
Welcome to the Bushwick Biodome! Home to a wide variety of lifeforms and located in the heart of bustling Bushwick, our spacious apartment is full of character and we would love to have you in it! Private room available.
A spacious and comfortable apartment shared between me, my roommate, and you! ....with plenty of common space to hang out in, lounge in, or get some work on in. We have a big collection of books, games, and plenty of movies to watch projected on a big wall. We built the apartment from scratch and are constantly making improvements! Currently working on....something. There is tons of natural sunlight from 45feet of windows facing the Manhattan skyline. There is also a huge and well stocked kitchen which is great for cooking!
The guest bedroom comes with a twin bed that sleeps one person, a dresser, a bookshelf, a clothes rack, a chair, a rug, a lamp, and an end table.
We keep the place very clean, I am constantly tidying up but we expect you should clean up thoroughly after yourself and if staying a while, contribute to the household chores.
We consider you our roommate, not a hotel guest, with the privileges and responsibilities that implies.
Guests have access to everything except our two bedrooms, though we usually leave the doors open. It's one big open loft (besides bedrooms, and of course, the bathroom)
Me and my roommate are around a lot / a little /not at all depending on our work schedules which change constantly. I do freelance cinematography in the film business and my roommate manages a studio for a media company. We expect a small amount of interaction but other than that it's entirely up to you!
Very close to every kind of great food you could imagine. Good bars all over the place, happening night life, live music, art galleries, quick trip to everything else in the city. Right nearby is little hipster mini-mall full of boutique shops including an excellent cafe. Laundry in the building. Full-size grocery store 4 blocks away.
Very convenient subway 3 blocks away (Morgan ave stop on the L train), buses out front. Usually available street parking.
Other Things to Note
*PLEASE NOTE* 1) There is substantial truck traffic on the roads below as there is a transfer station across the street. It can be sometimes be noisy even at odd hours of the night, though you barely hear it in your room. It doesn't bother most people but it might if you are a very sensitive sleeper. 2) We are sometimes a 420 friendly place, but not, if it bothers you.
Mostly just clean up after yourself. Always leave things as clean or cleaner than you found it. Don't be too loud, except sometimes, when it's called for. Be comfortable, be friendly, have a good time!
Just felt like home at the apartment. Nate was cool, helpful. Easy to communicate with checking in.
Amazing apartment! And sunset view !
Nathan and his roomste were very friendly and accomodating. The neighborhood is so hipster and cool, the apartment is so we'll done, and the room was fantastic. Beers and movies were shared, and the rest is history!
Fantastic experience! These dudes have a great place and provided excellent suggestions for what to do in the area. I stayed for almost two weeks and it felt like home from day one. Best place I have ever stayed in NYC.
This apartment is wonderful and the pictures don't quite do it justice. I love the plants and the general chill atmosphere in the apartment. I was out most of the days so didn't spend too much time with my hosts but both Marcos and Nathan seem really nice and I felt welcome. The bed was comfy and I slept well.
The neighborhood felt much safer than I thought it would be and there are some gems nearby so don't miss out on exploring your neighborhood.
On the less positive side, there is smoking in the apartment. Just be aware of it - I wasn't. Since the room doesn't have any windows or ventilation the only air inlet is the door. There's fan in there, but it can get really warm in summer. I had earplugs so I could sleep with the fan on and door closed, so it wasn't a problem for me, but it is something to be aware of.
But all in all a positive experience! :)
Nathan and Marcos were great hosts while I was in New York! Their place was spectacular, in a convenient location and had all the essentials nearby. The L Train was close and got me to and from Manhattan with no troubles at all. The loft itself was so beautiful, and had everything I needed, plus my room was nice and cosy! Nate and Marcos were happy to help with any of my queries and made me feel welcome and at home. I couldn't recommend the biodome more!
Nathan was a great host. I enjoyed my stay at the loft in Brooklyn. The room was small but only needed it for sleeping, since I was running around NY all weekend. The kitchen and place was clean and had what I needed to make any food or coffee in the morning. I really enjoyed the scene, bars, clubs and restaurants nearby. Everyone I met was really nice and accommodating. The nearest L train was Morgan Ave, used it quite often to get around Brooklyn and New York. I used Lyft quite a bit when it was more convenient. Would stay again! Thx Nathan!
I enjoyed staying at Nathan's place. He and his flatmate were great people. The subway is about a 10 minute walk and there's a deli that I would drop in every morning for breakfast.
About the Host, Nathan
I am a person who appreciates the odd stranger traveling through foreign (or sometimes domestic) lands, hence our fascination with this continuing AirBNB experiment. But so far, so good. Both me and my roommate are in our 20's and are from Massachusetts, we went to college together and both work in the film industry here in NYC. I do freelance camera work / cinematography, he manages a production studio for a growing online media empire. He is also a former ninja. We both work a lot, but also love to hang out with friends, drink some beers, make some food, go on adventures, etc. I tend to have stretches of free time in between jobs and I do a lot of woodworking projects on the side building everything in the apartment. We also have a lizard named Larry who lives in a kingdom high above us mere humans. He has a lady. They don't get along, lots of marital strife.
