About this listing
Welcome to the Bushwick Biodome! Home to a wide variety of lifeforms and located in the heart of bustling Bushwick, our spacious apartment is full of character and we would love to have you in it! Private room available.
A spacious and comfortable apartment shared between me, my roommate, and you! ....with plenty of common space to hang out in, lounge in, or get some work on in. We have a big collection of books, games, and plenty of movies to watch projected on a big wall. I built the apartment from scratch and are constantly making improvements! Currently working on....something. There is tons of natural sunlight from 45feet of windows facing the Manhattan skyline. There is also a huge and well stocked kitchen which is great for cooking!
The guest bedroom comes with a twin bed that sleeps one person, a dresser, a bookshelf, a clothes rack, a chair, a rug, a lamp, and an end table. Please be sure to look at the picture of the room! ***NOTE: IF you are booking a reservation for August or later, you will actually be staying in my roommates room, as he is moving out and I am turning that into the guest room. It is bigger, nicer, brighter, and just all around better, and for the same price! I don't have pictures of it yet because it hasn't happened yet, but just a heads up. Only good things!
We try to keep the place very clean, I am constantly tidying up but we expect you should clean up thoroughly after yourself. Although the place is generally very clean, me and my roommate also live here full time, and are often very busy, and I can't always guarantee everything is immaculate. I only say this as a disclaimer because a few people have left negative comments after their stays about coming home to dirty dishes in the sink or a full trash can. I do my best to keep it clean but I just want to be real here, as much as I try to make it like a hotel it's still a home.
We consider you our roommate, not a hotel guest, with the privileges and responsibilities that implies.
Guests have access to everything except our two bedrooms and should feel more than welcome to plop down on any couch, chair, or stool. It's one big open loft as you can see in the pictures (besides bedrooms, and of course, the bathroom)
Me and my roommate are around a lot / a little /not at all depending on our work schedules which change constantly. I do freelance cinematography in the film business and my roommate manages a studio for a media company. We expect a small amount of interaction but other than that it's entirely up to you!
Very close to every kind of great food you could imagine. Good bars all over the place, happening night life, live music, art galleries, quick trip to everything else in the city. Right nearby is little hipster mini-mall full of boutique shops including an excellent cafe. Laundry in the building. Full-size grocery store 4 blocks away.
Very convenient subway 3 blocks away (Morgan ave stop on the L train), buses out front. Usually available street parking.
The whole shared space (besides the other bedrooms) is yours to lounge in. You can also go on the roof which is great for a smoke or to relax and enjoy the view.
Interaction with Guests
Me and Marcos both live here, so are around a lot or a little depending on our work schedules. When we are around, we are happy to talk about anything, hang out, and give you as many suggestions of things to do as we can think of! We like watching movies and occasionally playing a video game or cards or something, we both usually go to bed between 10-12 but are up and aboot until then.
Lots of good bars, restaurants, and things to do. Too many to write, Just ask when you get here!
3 blocks from the nearest subway (the super convenient "L" train... 20 minutes into Manhattan), bus stop out front, easily available street parking.
Other Things to Note
*PLEASE NOTE* 1) There is substantial truck traffic on the roads below as there is a transfer station across the street. It can be sometimes be noisy even at odd hours of the night, though you barely hear it in your room. It doesn't bother most people but it might if you are a very sensitive sleeper. 2) We are a 420 friendly place, but not obtrusively, and not at all if it bothers you. If you don't know what this means, please ask!
Mostly just clean up after yourself. Always leave things as clean or cleaner than you found it. Don't be too loud, except sometimes, when you're having a good time. Tell us if we are being too loud. Be comfortable, be friendly, be at home!
I am a person who appreciates the odd stranger traveling through foreign (or sometimes domestic) lands, hence our fascination with this continuing AirBNB experiment. But so far, so good. Both me and my roommate are in our 20's and are from Massachusetts, we went to college together and both work in the film industry here in NYC. I do freelance camera work / cinematography, he manages a production studio for a growing online media empire. He is also a former ninja. We both work a lot, but also love to hang out with friends, drink some beers, make some food, go on adventures, etc. I tend to have stretches of free time in between jobs and I do a lot of woodworking projects on the side building everything in the apartment. We also have a lizard named Larry who lives in a kingdom high above us mere humans. He has a lady. They don't get along, lots of marital strife.
