Description

The space

A spacious and comfortable apartment shared between me, my girlfriend, her little dog, and you! ....with plenty of common space to hang out in, lounge in, or get some work on in. We have a big collection of books, games, and plenty of movies to watch projected on a big wall. I built the apartment from scratch and are constantly making improvements! Currently working on....something. There is tons of natural sunlight from 45feet of windows facing the Manhattan skyline. There is also a huge and well stocked kitchen which is great for cooking!

The guest bedroom comes with a twin bed that sleeps one person, a dresser for clothes, a computer desk with 27" imac for internet and streaming netflix/amazon., a clothes rack, and some other stuff. Please be sure to look at the picture of the room!

We try to keep the place very clean, I am constantly tidying up but we expect you should clean up thoroughly after yourself. Although the place is generally very clean, we also live here full time, and are often very busy, and I can't always guarantee everything is immaculate. I only say this as a disclaimer because a few people have left negative comments after their stays about coming home to dirty dishes in the sink or a full trash can. I do my best to keep it clean but I just want to be real here, as much as I try to make it like a hotel it's still a home.

We consider you our roommate, not a hotel guest, with the privileges and responsibilities that implies.

Guests have access to everything except our two bedrooms and should feel more than welcome to plop down on any couch, chair, or stool. It's one big open loft as you can see in the pictures (besides bedrooms, and of course, the bathroom)

We are around a lot / a little /not at all depending on our work schedules which change constantly. We both do freelance work in the film business. I do cinematography/camera stuff and she is an assistant director. We expect a small amount of interaction but other than that it's entirely up to you!

Very close to every kind of great food you could imagine. Good bars all over the place, happening night life, live music, art galleries, quick trip to everything else in the city. Right nearby underneath us is little hipster mini-mall full of boutique shops including an excellent cafe. Laundry in the building. Full-size grocery store 4 blocks away.

Very convenient subway 3 blocks away (Morgan ave stop on the L train), buses out front. Usually available street parking.

Guest access

The whole shared space (besides the other bedrooms) is yours to lounge in. You can also go on the roof which is great for a smoke or to relax and enjoy the view.

Interaction with guests

Me and my girlfriend both live here, so are around a lot or a little depending on our work schedules. When we are around, we are happy to talk about anything, hang out, and give you as many suggestions of things to do as we can think of! We like watching movies and occasionally playing a video game or cards or something, we both usually go to bed between 10-12pm but are up and aboot until then.

The neighborhood

Lots of good bars, restaurants, and things to do. Too many to write, Just ask when you get here!

Getting around

3 blocks from the nearest subway (the super convenient "L" train... 20 minutes into Manhattan), bus stop out front, easily available street parking.

Other things to note

*PLEASE NOTE*

1) My girlfriend has a small dog which is often around. She is super friendly and just loves love, and love, and balls. She has short fur and barely sheds, but those with allergies should be aware.

2) There is substantial truck traffic on the roads below as there is a transfer station across the street. It can be sometimes be noisy even at odd hours of the night, though you barely hear it in your room. That's just kinda Bushwick. It doesn't bother most people but it might if you are a very sensitive sleeper.

3) we have two lizards in a cage which are fun to watch. They eat crickets. Every once in a long while, a super special and talented cricket will escape its intended fate and make it free of the lizard cage. This means one time a guest encountered a cricket running around. Totally harmless and not a cockroach, but this one person really freaked out and now I feel the need to inform you ahead of time that it's not totally impossible you'll see or hear a cricket.

4) We are a 420 friendly place, but not obtrusively, and not at all if it bothers you. If you don't know what this means, please ask!

Nathan and Abbey were awesome! The apartment is as good as the pictures and the view over Manhattan is amazing. The location is great and really easy to get to Manhattan by the L train! I enjoyed exploring the surrounding streets, it has hidden away little gems so just keep walking. This apartment is great value, you will struggle to find an apartment for this price at such a great location. I highly recommend it. xo

Well set up for travelers. Awesome neighbourhood. Great vintage shop across road. The apartment was a treasure with a fantastic book and mask collection - these guys have impeccable taste. In a eclectic apartment block.

Nathan and Abbey were fantastic hosts, laid back and friendly and generous with their space, even providing amenities, fresh towels and extra bedding for guests. A tv and computer is linked up and ready in the private room. Their dog Jade is sweet and friendly and there to greet!

The Biodome is a super-cool home if you're looking to stay somewhere warm, inviting and in a 'home' rather than a hotel. Nathan & Abbey are funny and outgoing and their dog Jade made me feel welcome and loved straight away! In terms of location, I couldn't have been happier. Here, you can escape the hectic energy of Manhattan and you're also removed from the intense hipster affectation of Brooklyn proper. The best part is, when you do want to tap into these things they are all available by the subway only a couple of blocks away.

A great base to explore both Brooklyn and Manhattan. Nathan and Abbey's apartment has everything you need, a comfy bed, computer in the room and a very handy laundry in the building for anyone who stays for an extended period. Both hosts are friendly and welcoming (Jade, the dog even more so!) and I would not hesitate to recommend this place to others. L train very close by, making commuting a breeze and many good bars and restaurants within walking distance.

What an amazing stay. After travelling around the country I finished off my trip with a month in Bushwick. The room was spacey and comfortable and I really appreciated having a computer and a desk so that I could work. The view of Manhattan from the apartment windows and roof is insane, and the apartment is in the perfect location to explore all that Brooklyn has to offer - without having to travel too far. If you like dogs then you'll love Jade. She's super friendly and always loves to play. There are plenty of great restaurants around as well as some awesome vintage clothes stores and a super cheap bookstore. My hosts were very friendly and helpful. No complaints, just wish I could have stayed longer. Thanks so much guys :)

I am a person who appreciates the odd stranger traveling through foreign (or sometimes domestic) lands, hence our fascination with this continuing AirBNB experiment. But so far, so good. Me and my girlfriend are in our 20's im from Massachusetts she's from New Jersey. We both work in the film industry here in NYC. I do freelance camera work / cinematography, she is an assistant director. We both work a lot, but also love to hang out with friends, drink some beers, make some food, go on adventures, etc. We tend to have stretches of free time in between jobs. I do a lot of woodworking projects on the side building everything in the apartment. We also have a lizard named Larry who lives in a kingdom high above us mere humans. He has a lady. They don't get along, lots of marital strife.
