Had a excellent stay here. Salem was a great host and very welcoming. Great communication before & after arrival. Room was exactly as described and very clean, and comfy! Excellent location (only a few minutes walk from the water) and a lot of fun little shops and restaurants/bars nearby. Very convenient if you're looking to stay in the Brooklyn area. Would visit again!
I loved Salem's place! She welcomed me with the best lasagna I've had in my life, along with a nice glass of red wine. We'd had a problem with the key not being in the lock box (so I couldn't get in; I had known our host would be out at that time). It turned out that another Airbnb guest staying upstairs with another family had accidentally taken both sets of keys instead of just one.
Meanwhile, as I waited to get in, Megan, who was hosting the other guests upstairs, took excellent care of me and I felt so warmed by her hospitality at a stressful time. It was a fluke and had never happened before and I'm sure won't happen again. As for the space, it was beautifully decorated and Salem had prepared a nice air mattress for my children. Perfectly spotless and nicely laid out, she has obviously put a lot of care into providing for her guests. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again! I recommend this home very highly! If you're looking at this listing and it's booked, go for Megan's place upstairs! Either way, you'll be well looked after.
My family & I took a taxi from Salem's home to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, where I said 'Bon Voyage.' Then I was able to walk to IKEA and watch the ship Queen Mary 2 sail off with my family on it. So if you happen to be on that cruise, this would be an excellent landing place for more than one night if possible.
I just can't say enough about the positive attitude exuding from Salem, her husband and her children (and babysitter and neighbors). They were extremely accommodating and prepared to handle extraordinary circumstances perfectly. Many thanks to everyone involved. Your generosity is appreciated. It was wonderful talking with you.
Great place, exactly as described. Salem was welcoming, helpful, as well as flexible and forgiving when I got stuck in traffic and arrived later than I planned. My first Airbnb experience, and it couldn't have gone better. Next time I am back in NYC for work I will be booking this room again!
Salem was a wonderful host. She regularly messaged us with updates and she genuinely showed that she cares about us. Everything was prepared before we arrived and clean. We were very comfortable. She even cooked us breakfast and advised us on where to go in New York. Her children were delightful and friendly. We had a great time.
We had a wonderful time here. They were great hosts, very warm and helpful. The room was beautiful and Salem's attention to detail gave a touch of luxury to our experience. The local area had nice restaurants and bars just around the corner and public transport was close by. We would certainly go back.
My place in newyork is perfect. The location is a little bit far from manhattan downtown, but the transportation is very convenient. Most of all the host of this house is really great, they try to do everything for us. I have a very good memory here and I strongly recommend this house.
Salem and John were very friendly. John even offered to help with our baggage when we arrived. Before we arrived they moved a toddler bed into the space for our baby which was a nice touch. The house was very nice and the downstairs area was very roomy. The house was clean and orderly. It was nice to have a bed, full couches, internet and internet connected tv, a printer, and washer and dryer available. Salem and John made sure that we knew we could use the kitchen and went so far as to offer food and drinks in the fridge. I always felt welcomed and at ease with them and at no time felt like we were a bother. The bus stops might as well be on their front stoop. There is street parking on the block. We left early and got in late, so we didn't spend much time with Salem, but when we did speak she was really nice. We did our thing and they did theirs and all was well in Red Hook.
About the Host, Salem
I am easy going and friendly. Love to travel and to learn about different cultures. I love friends and family and enjoy the company of others. Lastly, I am mom of three, if you count hubby:).
