This beautiful apartment conveniently located, is home away from home. Whether your traveling with or without children your commute to the city is just 15-20 minutes away from Manhattan. All w/in walking distance: parks, track, restaurants, and a supermarket(Fairway) that overlooks the city and statue of Liberty.
The area that will be available to the guest for sleeping will be the basement which includes a full bed, 1/2 bath, and the living area with a couch and TV. For extra guests we will have a queen blow up bed available. Guests are of course welcome to hang out with us, whatever makes them comfortable.
The kitchen and the upstairs living area and bathroom will be shared.
Interaction with Guests
We will be here to greet the guest and answer and questions/give keys etc. We will be present but we come and go. I will also provide my mobile number if there's anything I can help my guest with during their stay.
Other Things to Note
You can also help yourself to anything in the fridge or freezer. I will also have basic toiletries available to our guest.
This is a non-smoking house. However, there is a patio where you can. We also have a shoe cubby by the front door where shoes that are worn outside are to be be placed. No outside guest aside from the individuals that reserved/booked are allowed. Other than that we are pretty relaxed.
Salem was definitely an awesome host!! she is very friendly and makes us feel like home. we weren't familiar with new york city, but she is very patient to help us out. even wrote down which street to park and the direction for us, it was very sweet! we had whole basement as our room, it's very spacious and comfortable! the room is very clean and fragrant. although we need to share the shower room, there's a toilet in the basement. it's convenient. if you drive, u can easily park there. and it's fast to drive to city. it's also easy to take metro, we just walk 1 min to bus station and take bus to F train. bus has frequent runs. F train takes about 30 mins to downtown. we didn't have trouble with traffic! and they charge very fair price! with nice location, nice place, nice people and affordable price, I really recommend to stay Salem's place. I would come again if i ever visit NY. Everyday i came back from city i felt like came back home! I really enjoyed staying Salem's place:)
Salem was an incredible host! My fiance and I arrived on a red eye flight from California and she graciously met us at the door at 7am on a Saturday morning -- amazing! We had smooth communication about the flight details and she was so kind to go above and beyond to accommodate our travel needs. The downstairs bedroom had bottled water, heaters already warming the room, and fresh towels. So sweet!
We were able to nap for a few hours before braving the Brooklyn cold -- rested and rejuvenated. The downstairs bathroom only has a sink and toilet so if you want to use the shower you need to go upstairs to the shared space. Salem keeps the shared bathroom very clean and hotel like which was appreciated.
The only note for travelers that like to sleep in -- there is no door separating the downstairs bedroom from the upstairs living room & kitchen area. With two young kids the sound travels down early. We were a bit groggy from our jet lag but I could see this might be a problem for folks needing to sleep late.
That being said as we left around 9am the next day Salem had prepared us breakfast! We had no idea and had to rush to a train but it just goes to show how generous Salem is. She is the kindest host I've every experienced on AirBnb. Thank you Salem!
Salem's apartment is lovely, and she was very welcoming and made us feel at home. The apartment and room were very clean. The bed was very comfy, and ample amount of towels were provided. The room is very spacious as you have the whole basement floor of the flat, however there is no door separating the top floor and the basement (just the stairs), so although it is private, sound does travel easily. Salem's two children are just adorable. They do wake-up early though so don't expect too much of a lie-in (who comes to New York to lie in anyway!). The location is good, close to nice areas although a bus or cab away from the subway.
Salem was most welcoming! We were very comfortable, she cooked us breakfast and opened up her home to us.
We would definitely stay again!!
We really enjoyed our stay. The description and reviews were all very accurate, and the neighbourhood was nice. It was a quiet, up and coming area, with some parks nearby. We were a half an hour walk from Brooklyn bridge and there was a bus station around the corner from the apartment. Salem and the nice family were great hosts, and their guide to the area was perfect.
Both hosts were great! Place was meticulously clean, in a nice neighborhood, close 10 min walk to the train or Ikea Ferry. Plenty of restaurants, bars, parks within minutes of walking. Tons of room and comfortable beds. The whole experience was better than I expected and I give all that credit to the Hosts. I've passed on their info to a couple friends already and if I find myself needing to stay in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn I'll definitely hit them up again!
I am easy going and friendly. Love to travel and to learn about different cultures. I love friends and family and enjoy the company of others. Lastly, I am mom of three, if you count hubby:).
