Our attic, which can accommodate two adults and potentially a family of four, is located in a tastefully decorated house in a quiet yet very close area to Cardiff centre, ideal to explore the city. Pol & Gwenno speak six languages between them.
Our attic is a really bright and light filled space. The actual attic is quite a large space with ample room to relax. It has a comfortable bed which has an additional single bed below which can then accommodate a couple. There is also a futon bed and a 'put me up' which could accommodate up to an additional two people. You can see the Millenium Stadium out of the window as well as the trees of Pontcanna.
They will be sharing the new shower room which also contains the toilet. We have a separate sitting room which they may wish to use in the evening. We do have private areas in the house which will be pointed out to guests.
Interaction with Guests
We love to travel and meet other travelers and Gwenno especially likes to communicate and practice her languages (Welsh, English, Flemish, French and a little bit of Spanish) Pol also speaks Flemish, English, French and a little bit of German. We can also arrange either cycle tours or bike hires through Pol's company Cardiff Bike Tours.
Yes we will be interacting with the guests who will be staying in our home. We intend to be there most of the time as we both have offices in our home.
It's very convenient to the center of town. We have Chapter Arts Center around the corner which has a huge range of cultural activities. There are some cute shops in the vicinity and a truly cosmopolitan selection of places to eat within half a mile walking distance. We have fabulous neighbours and there is a real sense of community in our street. I love living there. I can get out on to the river for a run within five minutes and the park is truly lovely and again within walking distance.
You can catch a bus into the center to town at the end of the road for £1 or you can walk into town along the river Taff and through the beautiful castle grounds. Parking directly outside the house can sometimes be problematic but we have a visitors parking permit. We are a five minute taxi ride from Cardiff train and bus station.
Other Things to Note
We both love music. Pol plays the saxophone and Gwenno sings with a choir and also as a soloist. She does a one woman Tribute show about Edith Piaf. Book a bike from Pol and you will be able to get out and about with no problem. (website hidden)
It is a smoke free house but you are welcome to smoke outside in the garden should you need to. We do not allow pets. We like to have a chat with our guest and make them feel welcome.
Gwenno and Pol were wonderful hosts. The perfect combination of welcoming and relaxed. Staying with them really felt like a home from home and made my weekend away that much more enjoyable. The room itself was light and airy and a really nice size. I would thoroughly recommend anyone to stay here. Access to Cardiff is excellent as well, only 20 minutes walking brings you to the heart of Cardiff.
I was a pleasure staying at Gwenno & Pol's home. The bed was comfortable, the room was heated and spacious with a desk if you need. The bathroom was clean and had a nice shower. The area is very quiet and residential but convenient. They left a breakfast out as well and I could put some food in the refrigerator too. There are restaurants and convenient stores nearby. I went to Chapters, an performing arts centre nearby with an excellent affordable menu and welcoming, relaxed and family oriented crowd at the cafe/bar. The Castle is about 15 minutes walking distance via the lovely park. And town centre is an easy walk too. I had a short visit, but Pol's cycling tours sounded great, so I hope next time I can partake! I would definitely return to stay with these very friendly hosts!
Pol and Gwenno have a love home in a quiet residential area. There are cafes, restaurants and a convenience store nearby. I was welcome to use the kitchen and dining area. The heater was on upstairs, tea and coffee nearby and some biscuits. Gwenno left a breakfast tray for me, with a lovely slection. Everything is welcoming, well decorated, clean and comfortable.
This was the first time I used airbnb and it was a very good experience! Gwenn and Pol were very nice and made me feel at home! The room was as described. The bed was comfortable and the room is really big, what makes it much nicer than most hotel rooms. Everything was clean and the wifi worked well, in spite of being an attic. I had to leave very early the next morning and didn´t have time for breakfast, but Gwenn prepared a bag with some snacks and fruits to take it with me. I really appreciated that, as the shops at the station were closed at that time, so I couldn´t have bought anything for my journey.
The area is nice and quiet and there´s a bus stop in a 5 min walk, with buses going to Cardiff Central. (It´s just 5 min by bus, so it´s quite close).
Gwenn and Pol are lovely! I wish I could have spent more time to get to know them a bit more! Next time!!
Everything was great, host is really welcoming and friendly and sensitive to her guests needs. Room and bathroom were clean, and very comfortable. Great night sleep.
lovely and cozy attic room it is! Nice location to go anywhere because it's near located in central area. Thanks to Pol and Gwenno for hospitality and kindness even though it was short time to see you.
Gwenno and Pol were very welcoming hosts and provided everything I needed during my 5 night stay. The house is in a quiet residential street, with a few restaurants and small supermarket at the end of the road, and is a £5 taxi ride to the town or University. Everything was great, they provided a good breakfast every day and even lent me a hairdryer. Fab, many thanks! :)
