Total privacy, off street parking, quiet space a few blocks from the beach. Kitchenette with microwave and small refrig, washer, dryer, full bathroom and large family room. Large screen tv and wifi included. Car necessary to get most places.
Best of both worlds! Two blocks from the beach and a 25 minute ride into downtown Boston by car, train or commuter boat. On a hot, sunny day, leave the car behind and forget the train. Hop aboard the boat and sail into town,so you can enjoy being on the water to and from your visit to our wonderful city. A few miles away is a casino boat which sails twice a day if that tempts you.
Suite with private entrance and off street parking in separate part of my house, kitchenette, full bath,washer/dryer,close to several beaches, near historic district, shopping, restaurants. Two doors away is a rail trail so you can walk, jog or use my two bikes to get around town.Or drive 5 minutes up the road to historic Salem. Those who visit in October will see the town grow by 100,000 for Halloween and do not be surprised to see witches walking the streets.
KIng or twin beds along with a large adjoining private family room with big screen cable tv.and wireless internet.
Marblehead, the birthplace of the US Navy is a destination in itself, and most guests who stay here end up remaining close by as there is so much to do. Last summer, the movies "Grown Ups Two" and "Ted" were filmed here, along with the new Larry David movie with Jon Hamm and Kate Hudson,so Hollywood has discovered our lovely community.Recently.Christian Bale and Amy Adams were spotted a few miles away filming their new movie.
Come for a day or a week. You will not run out of things to do and will find your accommodations private, quiet and safe.
Close to small beach, one mile from large beach, Short walk to small beach 3 minute drive to big beach, 5 minute drive to restaurants, theater, train, commuter boat to Boston in summer, Salem Witch capital in October, huge boat regattas in summer, near Peabody Essex Museum. 30 minute drive or train to Boston. The suite is larger than most apratments and the total privacy means you never have to see me unless you want a recommendation which I am happy to provide or need something, and I am always available to you via cell. Full bath, washer ,dryer, big screen tv,internet included and off street parking.
Interaction with Guests
My guest interaction is based entirely on how much or little my guests want to see or speak to me. Many are happy to ask about referrals to destinations, restaurants, etc and others just want to be left alone. I take my cue from my guests.
a residential neighborhod with nice neighbors who are happy to have Air BnB guests in my home, I live close to everythng anybody visiting Marblehead would want to see. We have been rathed one of the top 10 towns to visit in the U.S by several major publications and you need to see for yourself what makes our town so special.
While a car is a must, feel free to use my bikes and helmets, beach chairs and beach towels or just walk the path next to my house and see the town by foot. However,to maximize the experience, a car will get you to the train,to restaurants,to the commuter boat in season and to old town, the part of Marblehead built in the 1600's and 1700's and where most of the boutiques and fun restaurants are located.
Other Things to Note
AN AIr BnB guest for nearly 4 years I have hosted more than 50 times and have always enjoyed my guests . Their comments reflect their nearly universal satisfaction with the space the area and my recommendations
NO smoking anywhere near the property and you must be able to tolerate a 15 yr old cat who eats and sleeps. Also, you must be the quiet type. NO loud music.
Judith received us like we were family. The neighbourhood is quiet and really safe. She provided us very good advice for attractions, restaurants and all we had to know.I would definitely go back again.
For a first try at airbnb the standard is set quite high!
Thank you both for a great review. Glad you enjoyed your stay. I will remember the milk next time.
I hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Boston, had a safe trip home and that you consider coming back when the weather is warm. I promise to have a BIG bottle of milk in the fridge!
Judith was a very nice host, who made sure we had everything we needed. The place was very clean and had everything you needed for a weekend getaway. It was very close to Salem which is where we were visting and was very easy to drive to.
Kim,I am glad you liked the space and it met all of your needs.
In response to your suggestions about what I could improve below, the cat never wanders around your private space unless someone lets her out of the room she sleeps in or if she is outside and runs into the house through the garage when someone opens the garage door, neither of which happened due to actions taken by me.
I left you a note because I did not have your cell phone. I hardly consider that "passive aggressive," as I had no other way of reaching you. You are the first guest who never gave me a way of reaching you except through the AirBnB site.
Last, you booked for two people and showed up with an additional guest, which you never asked me about and was not part of the booking price, but notwithstanding,I accomodated the extra guest without charging my standard additional fee of $30.00 per night. My advice to you in the future for a good experience with the host is to be forthcoming about the number of guests before you book, and if you decide to add to the booking,at least contact the host to be sure it is okay and to ask if there is an extra bed available or an additional charge rather than just arriving and assuming the host has the ability to accomodate the additional guest.
Judy is a great host, she gave us lots of useful and unique information which make us feel like at home. This is a real house near the beach and have too much space stay comfortable. Although house a little far from downtown, we experienced real and excellent life in Boston. We all like the beach road through the town very much even much more than most place where in Boston down town.
Judith is one of the nicest people we have met. She was such an amazing host! Very kind and generous. The suite was exactly what we needed, a home away from home. Very clean and the location was perfect. Can't wait to return...
Judith was a wonderful host, very polite and accommodating. The space was spacious, clean, and very private. Great location in a beautifully quaint location.
Judy's place is amazing. She met us on arrival with huge muffins, treats in the fridge and info on all the best places to eat. The living area was great, very comfortable and spotless. Judy made us feel very welcome. Marblehead is a great alternative to Boston, a short train trip away. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending Judy's place and would give it 6 stars if we could! Thanks so much, Judy!
Very comfortable and clean, perfect for a night while we were in town for a wedding. Judy provided muffins and fruit for breakfast and was very helpful and friendly.
I am an attorney and a single mother of a college student, living in Marblehead,MA ,an oceanside town just north of Boston. I am a non-smoker and prefer quiet but centrally located places so I can walk to local sights and restaurants.
This is an exciting time to be in Marblehead,as the movie ,"GROWN UPS 2 "is being filmed here and the town is filled with stars and excitement (Adam Sandler,David Spade,Kevin James,Selma Hayek, etc). Almost every kid who lives here has been used an an extra in the movie. Plus, this is the birthplace of the U.S Navy and a huge boating community. The Marblehead-Halifax,Nova Scotia race as well as the race to Bermuda starts here.
My house is a few blocks from the beaches as well as 1/2 mile from several restaurants. There is public transportation into Boston if you do not want to drive there yourself, although people who stay her usually like to stay in this neighborhood rather than go into Boston.
Come and stay awhile. You won't be disappointed.
