Our cosy Garden Chalet has a double bedroom, lounge with Sky TV and a Kitchenette. Heated by a Log Burner/Elecricity. Self catering, self contained, basic, simple & comfortable, not a Hotel or B&B! Great for Business Travllers too!

The space

Self contained Garden Pine Log Chalet with Double bedroom, lounge and Kitchenette, equipped with wireless or cable Internet, Sky+ TV and Stereo with iPod dock. The Kitchenette is equipped with a combination microwave, small fridge, kettle, sink and a Portaloo for night time or emergencies only. The Chalet provides simple, basic accommodation, it is not posh but it is comfortable, cosy and clean. Please Note: The Shower, Bath, Toilet and main Kitchen are in the main house just a short walk through the Garden, not a problem for most guests though some may find this a little inconvenient . The Kitchen in the house may also be used to prepare main meals if desired. The Chalet has a log burner that will be lit prior to your arrival in winter months or if it is cold and you may request us to make the Chalet cosy for your arrival. Electric Heaters are also available.
Local shops and restaurants are in easy walking distance. Great local pubs with good selections of real ales. Good Bus and Rail links. The River Itchen, Riverside Park and the Itchen Navigation all in walking distance.
Great place to stay to explore the New Forest, Exbury Gardens, the local yachting scene at Hamble and the Solent. Great for when the Cricket is on at the Ageas Bowl and of course Southampton Boat Show. Many folks have stayed with us before or after embarking on a cruise to all those fabulous destinations available from Southampton.
The Itchen Navigation stretches for 15 miles from Southampton to Winchester, it is a walkers heaven at all times of the year, it is possible to walk from our house to Winchester, catch the train home all in one day. If this longer than you fancy then, if you have a car, there are planned circular walks along the length of the walk.
Put 'Circular Walks Southampton' into a search engine for downloadable details.

Guest access

Our Guests have acces to the Chalet, the Garden, Shower, Bath, Toilet and the Kitchen. The Chalet and Garden may be entered around the side of our house through a garden gate so guests may come and go as they please.

Interaction with guests

Some guests want to interact a lot, some do not, we cater for both quite happily.

Other things to note

Parking: On street parking is usually available just over the road from our house with more parking normally available just around a near by crossroads.
Please remember that we have our Office in the Chalet and will often be working in the office during working hours. Generally this causes no problems but is worth remembering if you are looking for total privacy.

The chalet in the nice garden (bedroom, small living room with TV, kitchenette with camping toilet) is simple but cozy. We didn't use their kitchen but Rachel & Graham even offer very kindly to use it in their house, too. Both are very helpful and want the guests to feel comfortable. Just read their perfect description of the accommodation and you'll find it exactly as they say. It is no problem to use the bathroom (together with the sun of the family) as the main house is very close. We went easily to Southampton City Centre by bus for only 3£ / person return. Bus stop is very close and shops and restaurants nearby, too. We did not like the city of Southampton too much but we recommend taking the ferry to the Isle of Wight which is beautiful and definitely worth the money ;)

What a delightful and cozy place. Rachel and Graham are so welcoming and helpful. This is a wonderful place to stay if you plan to do a lot of touring and getting out into the community. It is priced perfectly! I will definitely stay again when I am in South Hampton :-)

Fab Chalet, was just using it as a base whilst in the area on a course which had long hours each day. Comfy double bed, Sky TV was a nice touch in the sitting area. Kitchenette was nice with a little fridge (though I didn't use that). I wouldn't recommend it as somewhere you intend to dwell as Rachel and Graham use their office in the Chalet, so there wouldn't be much privacy during working hours. Location is good, heard one or two planes a night taking off but it wasn't that bad, no noisy roads or anything, it's nice and quiet. Rachel and Graham were lovely, though I only met them at the start of the week and didn't see them again due to leaving early and getting back late. Coming and going is very easy and doesn't disturb anyone so you don't have to feel bad about coming and going as you please. I didn't find many places you could walk to for food, except for a Tesco Express which is a 6-7 minute walk away. Everything else is a 5 minute drive away at least. Overall, I would highly recommend staying here and will look to see if this is available again myself when I'm back!

Response from Rachel And Graham:
Many Thanks for the review Ben. There is an area called the Triangle actually closer than the Tesco Express, this has a Micro Pub, Coop, butchers bakers, various cafes and take aways all in a short walk. I am really sorrry you did not find it this trip and hope you do come back to discover them. PS, there is a 4 way extension lead for phones etc in the bedroom, someone had pushed it under the bed.

Response from Rachel And Graham:
Unfortunately we accepted this booking before noticing the couple intended to bring a small child. We have a garden with many steps, an unguarded small pond and a blind rescue dog that was saved from a house where she was treated quite badly by a large family with many children. She loves people but is nervous around kids and occasionally gets a little snappy with them. We cancelled the booking about 30 mins after accepting it and of course explained the reasons to the family with our apologies.
