About this listing
Our spacious goan-style cottages are located on an organic plantation en-route to Dudhsagar Waterfall, set in a coconut grove, in the midst of exotic plants. Unwind in our tropical paradise, and let yourself be pampered with traditional goan food.
On our farm (Dudhsagar Plantation), you will live in one of two cozy cottages, both with a lovely veranda. Both have a spacious attached open air bathroom and toilet, with hot and cold water. You live in the midst of a tropical palm-garden, with lots of exotic plants. Please note that you may encounter the occasional little froggy in the bathroom - they love it moist.
This listing is for the Small Cottage, which can comfortably sleep 2 adults and a child. It has an attached open air bathroom with hot water (we use solar induction panels to heat the water, so it needs to run for a couple of minutes before you actually get hot water). There are ventilators in the cottage and on the veranda (the cottage is not airconditioned).
The Plantation is located at the foothills of the Western Ghats Mountain Range (a United Nations Heritage Site), around 35 km from Goa´s famed coastline. A great place to relax, read a book, connect with nature... see exotic fruits and spices grow, enjoy the birds, swim at the nearby river. It´s also a good base camp for excursions to the Dudhsagar Waterfall and other places of interest like the Old Goa Churches (around 45 km) and the Temples at Mardol and Mangueshi (around 35 km). You can also do daytrips to the beaches at Colva (around 35 km) and Palolem (about 55 km). We are happy to arrange transport.
We have consciously opened our farm to visitors, so you're free to stroll around the 50 acre plantation. We'll also be happy to show you around the farm, and explain our eco farming practices, vermiculture, the biogas plant, destillation of the local cashew liquor (known as 'feni')... you'll also get to spot a wide range of birds on our farm, even from your veranda.
There´s also some firewood ready for lighting up a bonfire under the star spangled sky.
Interaction with Guests
A member of the family will be around during your stay. We´re an international family and happy to meet and interact with folks from around India and the world. If you´re around for meals, we would be dining together.. homecooked, mostly vegetarian meals are included in the room rate and a small selection of drinks is available at reasonable prices (there are no options for eating out in the vicinity).
Staying at the eco-farm was great. The property is very secluded - no local town or shops within walking distance - which is perfect if you want some rest and relaxation away from all the noise and goings on in Goa. The host is lovely and the story of how the farm started is definitely worth asking about. All meals are provided at an additional cost - the food is good. Still, my favourite thing is that the shower room has no roof - I never want to shower without being directly under the stars again!
Everything was good. Accomodation is spacious and clean.
The whole family was really nice and always helpful. Anil (Ashoks brother) and his wife stayed there the entire time and really gave us a lot of attention. They are great people!
They also have transportation available (cousin Vinay) which for us was very good since we wanted to go to some places that not many people knew how to get there and Vinay was spot on when taking us.
Near the property there is a really nice river that you can go for swimming, was just perfect!
For those wondering about the eating situation, they provide everything in the farm (in rupies...breakfast: $100 / lunch: 250 / tea: 100 / dinner: 250). The food was also amazing and very well served, meaning you could eat as much as you like.
Thanks for everything.
