About this listing
Panoramic view on Valdichiana valley, peaceful and surrounded by olive groves, garden and lawns, authentic and charming; the focal point of the summertime is a large scenic porticoes terrace, with dining area, chairs, tables, barbecue.
Large kitchen/dining room with its original old stone fireplace; the kitchen is well equipped
The villa is located 10 km south of Arezzo, the setting for Roberto Benigni's 'Life is Beautiful'. It is a city characterized by a beautiful array of architectural styles, from Etruscan ruins to the Roman amphitheatre and the Medici Fortress; there also is an international Equestrian Centre. The first weekend of each month features a popular antique fair, while two times a year the town hosts a festival called 'Joust of the Saracen,' where all citizens dress in a medieval attire. It is also well situated to day trips throughout Tuscany, including nearby Cortona (20km), Assisi, Val d'Orcia, Chianti, Perugia and Lake Trasimeno, as well as Florence and Siena.
Guests will have access to the whole villa and the garden outside. In case of using only one bedroom and one bathroom (and the daily spaces), we offer a reduction of the price.
We don't live in the villa, but we live 10 minutes far (so for any reason, we can be there in a very short time). We usually come twice/three times a week to water the garden and the vegetable garden, so we will probably meet! We like to know personally our guests, so if you have time, we can have a glass of wine on the terrace while chatting. But we also like to leave you your privacy, so we won't be a constant presence.
On recommande !!!!
What an amazing week my group of 5 friends had at Mulinmaria! From the very first contact/inquiry about the property, I was made to feel so welcomed and well-taken care of by Arianna, and by her mother, Nadia. The host family lives in nearby Arezzo, but is on site (unobtrusively) to care for the gardens and property occasionally during the stay. Arianna was out of town during our visit, but Nadia was an amazing host! She provided information and recommendations for our excursions, helped set up a tasting and tour visit to a winery, Pomaio, owned by her nephew, which was an unforgettable experience, one which we would never have found on our own! The personal connection to the host family added greatly to the experience. We really enjoyed getting to know Nadia, and appreciated all that she did to make our stay so enjoyable.
Mulinmaria is a beautiful villa, set in the middle of a hillside covered with olive trees. The view of sunset over the Val di Chianna from the terrace every evening was the perfect ending to each day in Tuscany. We spent our early mornings, breakfasts, and evenings on the terrace, just relaxing and savoring the peaceful setting. It was just like Tuscany is supposed to be!
Our group had plenty of space to relax and enjoy the week. The bedrooms were comfortable. It was great to have the three bathrooms-- the third one requires going up a narrow spiral staircase to a tower above the living/kitchen level. It added a level of charm to the experience.
The house is centrally located. We loved being near Arezzo, which had all needed groceries and shopping, as well as a beautiful piazza, duomo, and amazing history, and a convenient train station for our day-trip to Florence. Mulinmaria was convenient for visits to Sienna, Cortona, Montepulciano, Piensa, and the Chianti region. We ventured into nearby Umbria as well.
Our week at Mulinmaria occurred during a record setting heat wave, so the house was very warm during the day--luckily while we were out and about anyway. The terrace has areas which are shaded throughout the day. Evenings cooled down significantly after sunset, and the bedroom level, which is the lower level of the house and built into the hill, helped us stay comfortable at night.
I would not hesitate to come back to Mulinmaria in the future. It was such a joy to share a week with friends in such a beautiful setting.
A beautiful house in a quiet area, close to Arezzo (lively and attractive town) and nearby other places to visit, with a good local restaurant and shops a short drive away. Hosts extremely helpful but not intrusive, everything in the house §worked perfectly, lovely big terrace and gardens to enjoy and the host even left us some freshly picked garden veg. No pool at the house, but public pool in next village has sun loungers + is good for lounging and swimming (50 m + separate kids pool).
The host was gracious, helpful, kind and friendly. She had everything ready for us, the villa was very clean, the flower beds and gardens well-kept, and there was water, fresh veggies and a bottle of wine for our arrival. The villa was spacious, the large kitchen was great for family cooking and gathering. The outdoor spaces were beautiful with great views of the Tuscan landscapes. We enjoyed lounging, eating and reading out on the patios. The villa had a great history and authenticity which made it even better. It was a great place for basing trips to Florence, Arezzo, Cortona, and Assisi. We enjoyed playing Foosball on the back patio after dinner. The villa had a very open feel and was the perfect temperature due to stone construction. We particularly enjoyed organic vegetables from the garden. Our only regret was not having more time there to soak it all in.
