In the house there are other open spaces, corresponding to the idea of living as close to nature and sustainability as possible.

Other things to note
The house is located in the Sandy Bay village, a quiet local neighborhood, just 2 miles away from West End. Situated right on one of the most beautiful sandy beaches inside the Roatan Marine Park!

This area offers great snorkeling right out of the house. We offer full snorkeling equipment, water shoes and a marking buoy to overcome the shallow entry to the water. In 5 minutes of swimming you will reach the best snorkeling and diving places. A kayak and a stand up paddle board are ready for you to discover the marine life of the lagune. There are different dive shops in the close neighborhood who will take you to discover the outside reef.

In walking distance and along the beach there are several options of resorts with restaurants and live music. If you want to reach some of the best places to eat and for groceries, walk for three minutes to the main road and grab a collective taxi or bus to West End.

The house has a modern alarm system with a direct 7/24 connection to Bulldog Security International patrols. There is a safe place to store your valuables.

Where you’ll be

Roatán, Bay Islands, Honduras

We are part of the nice and quiet, unspoilt village of Sandy Bay. Scuba Diving Schools at two beach resorts with good restaurants (Blue Bahia, Tranquil Seas) within a 5 minutes walk along the beach, dolphin shows (Anthony's Key Resort) at 15 minutes of walking along the beach. Nice swimming pool with pool bar at Chyril's Guava Cove Resort 500 meters from our home. Large super markets in Sandy Bay (1,5 miles) and in Coxen Hole (8 miles away). Main tourist hub is West End with many restaurants and shops, just 2 miles away; it's pretty easy to flag a taxi at the main road (2$ per person).

Where I went to school: University of Zurich, Switzerland
My work: Social Anthropologist
I am a cultural anthropologist and independent documentary filmmaker with a film production in Switzerland – now since three years retired. After hurricane Mitch 1999, I lived as a project manager of Caritas Switzerland in the province of Olancho in central Honduras. I visited the Bay Islands various times and fell in love with Roatan, where I bought one of the last pieces of beach property in Sandy Bay in 2001.
