Our stay in Sevilla was perfect. Semana Santa is a wonderful time to visit to really experience Seville - we felt part of the atmosphere, taking in the sights and were really given a chance to be part of a celebrating community. The parades were something else - like you would never see back in the Uk and everyone was so hospitable and accommodating. We really embraced the time of year and the atmosphere of the city - attempting to speak Spanish whenever we could and really felt at one with this amazing city. There is a bar and pizzeria right outside the apartment which some people may not like but we had many a drink there and ate the food which was perfect for a late night meal post all the processions. The flat itself we couldn't fault - although do make sure you're on "intimate" terms with whoever you stay with as the bathroom doors are see-through and as it is loft-style, there are divisions but no roof! We cooked in one night and had the doors open onto the square listening to the bands of semana Santa and enjoying the cool breeze (29degrees in April!) The small things here really made the difference - having milk, coffee, tea, bread and jams was great and taken for granted! Clean, modern and in a fab little location we couldn't recommend Seville any more. Maria was so helpful, even booking a taxi for us on departure. If you want to really feel part of Spain, Seville is it. We thoroughly recommend the Alcazar on a sunny day, take time out in the beautiful gardens, and also the local bars - assimilate and enjoy!! Xx
The yellowBox is a really brilliant place to stay in Sevilla. We completely loved our three days there. Firstly, the contemporary design of the studio apartment is really well done - interesting, functional, comfortable and pleasing to be in. The induction cooker was brilliant with all the kitchen stuff you need. The shower was one of the best ever! - especially with the 'green wall' outside, and the bed really comfortable too. The wifi and TV all worked well for us too, and Maria provided lovely breakfast things. I really love spaces where it's clear that someone has really thought about the design of everything, all the details, and Maria obviously loves this space and has put a lot of care into it.
What is also really special about this place is the location, in both the immediate locality and in relation to the whole city. It's in a brilliant little square that is right in the heart of the everyday life of the city and immediate community of people coming and going, cycling, sitting - a sociable and convivial place and within a minute of the best bars and cafes, with a brilliant 'antiques' market on Thursdays on your doorstep. We grew to love that Plaza los Maldonados very quickly. It was our first trip to Sevilla - a week's cultural adventure to walk, bike and wander around the city, and this flat was seriously perfect for us. (I was so relieved I wasn't in the the 'tourist zone' around the Alacazar, beautiful as it is). And Maria was fantastic to communicate with, all the arrangements and timings were great. We'll be back some day for sure.
The Yellow Box really was the perfect base for our 3 day trip to Seville. Maria has thought of everything, with little touches such as breakfast provided, water and milk in the fridge, restaurant suggestions etc. The apartment is stylish with every modern convenience, and also comfortable. And we were very grateful to Isca, Maria's friend who welcomed us and helped us find parking. We will recommend it to everyone we know.
The apartment of Maria was perfectly located in the heart of Sevilla. You are surrounded by little narrow streets and from walk distance to many good neighbourhoods. I think you can hardly find a best location to stay in this amazing city.
Maria gave us lots of tips and good information on bars and restaurants of the city (a very useful note was left in the flat!)
The apartment itself was beautiful, clean and looked exactly like the photos of Maria.
I would definitely recommend Maria's apartment!
Muchísimas gracias a ti María. Hasta pronto en esta ciudad maravillosa.
it was a lovely stay in this apartment, very welcoming, comfortable and everything you need and more. The complementary bread, jam, coffee, tea, orange juice, beers etc was a really nice touch. Maria even came over (at 10pm!)with another blanket and pillow for me as I was allergic to the feather ones provided! Such a lovely host!
The only negative thing i can say about this apartment (and it has nothing to do with the host) is the fact the apartment is on the ground floor with busy eating/ area outside, no problem for noise at all however we felt as though people outside could quite easily see in. I think some kinds of blinds would be perfect as we really missed the natural light! Just a thought! :)
Thank you so much!! Perfect stay in Sevilla :)

Normally my wife and I are the type of travelers who stay in the cheapest possible accommodations, e.g., youth hostels. For our trip to Sevilla we were staying in one place a bit longer than usual (10 days) and I needed a fast internet connection to stay connected to work. This apartment was well worth the extra money (still cheap by Paris standards, where we live). When we arrived Maria was cleaning up after installing some new lighting. The apartment now has plenty of lighting options, including a skylight. It will never be a sunny apartment, being on the ground floor of a building on a one of the narrow streets of the old town. It's by no means a dank basement though. The windows allow good cross ventilation and the lack of direct sunlight probably keeps it cool in summer (we were there in February).
The apartment is in the absolute best part of town near plaza Encarnación. It's right around the corner from some super authentic neighborhood tapas joints (Santa Marta and Los Dardos were two of our favorites.) However, the apartment is on a small street and stays absolutely quiet even on weekend nights when the neighborhood is buzzing. There is a bit on noise, such as doors opening and closing, around 9-10AM when the neighbors leave for work, which could wake the lightest sleepers.
The apartment itself is really an marvel of design. I doubt that such a place would even be available were it not for the economic slow down in Spain, as the owners were using it as a work space. Although her training is as an architect, Maria is a very gracious host. Her recommendations were definitely right on, especially for those into the more prefer the bohemian to the touristy. When you finally get sick of traditional tapas, the restaurant Panandor (also just around the corner) is an absolute revelation. Contenador is another great one (Eslava was meh). The apartment has everything you need and comes fully stocked. The internet was fast enough to watch movies on the very high quality big screen projector using my laptop (after a bit of fussing with cables), which was really great.
The bed was pretty firm, but we found it to be really comfortable.
The shower had one of those waterfall shower heads which was also really nice.
Sevilla is a great town. On a nice day I recommend grabbing some of the public city bikes and heading to the Parque del Alamillo or just taking the road around the periphery of the old town which has bike paths.
We had a great time in this apartment, I give it the highest possible recommendation.
