The Space

Bruny Island, named after Bruni D'entrecasteaux explorer, the Aboriginal name was Lunawanna Alonnah, southern Tasmania is two islands joined by a narrow isthmus called "The Neck".

Our home, Crickhollow, is on the south island, on a rise, with wonderful views over Daniels Bay.

Your space in completely separate from the main living area consisting of one wing of our home, entry by your own door, containing a bedroom, queen size bed, separate bathroom and lounge sitting room. All rooms wood paneled. Facilities include: fridge, microwave, TV, DVD player, Internet, all linen provided, hairdryer, iron, free use of washing machine.
We have a BBQ on the back deck for your use or you can share our kitchen or share your meals with us or John can cook for you. John will discuss menus and very reasonable costs with you.

We do, of course, include breakfast in our price. John is a great cook and will tantalize your taste buds with his menus, using local produce when available.

We are within easy distance of the most magnificent walks, peaceful bays, lonely beaches and easy sailing across the D'Entrecasteaux Channel.

There are National Parks, game reserves, rainforests, rare wildlife and most breathtaking panoramic views.

Our island is full of wonderful flora and fauna consisting of wallabies, possums, penguins, native quolls, dolphins, seals to name of few.
The flora consists of beautiful wild flowers in spring including native Christmas bells.

There a some lovely eating places on South Bruny Island - The Hotel, Berry Farm, Hothouse Cafe, Penguin cafe and take away food at the Adventure Bay Store.

  • Patricia and John were wonderful hosts. Very welcoming. They let us use their kitchen and the bbq so we could cook a great dinner made out of delicious Tasmanian food and we ate it while watching a movie from their great collection! We had the best breakfast prepared by John before going back on our road trip towards the lighthouse. I highly recommend you all to stay at Patricia's!

  • We had a really wonderful time staying with Pat and John on Bruny. The bedroom was lovely and the separate sitting room with its own TV and mini-fridge meant that we had plenty of space. John cooked us breakfast each morning which was really yummy and very convenient given that there are few places to go out on Bruny.

Pat & John were great hosts, armed with tips for exploring the island and thoughtful conversation. They are a wonderful couple and we truly enjoyed our time with them.

  • We had a brilliant time with John and Pat in their beautiful little house down at South Bruny. John cooked us a tasty three course dinner, including one of the finest fish curries we've ever had. John and Pat made us feel very comfortable and had some really enjoyable discussions. The bedroom, living and bathroom is separate from the main house and you are nice and close to everything.

My partner John and I live on Beautiful Bruny Island just off the coast of Tasmania in the "Deep South" Bruny is a very diverse island, peaceful, dramatic and exciting. We love gardening although we have an ongoing battle with the rabbits who find our roses delicious - we love music (we have our own ukulele group) singing (with our group and in the local choir) sailing when the weather allows us (fair weather sailors now) and entertaining. John is a great cook with a real feel for flavours, his breakfasts are wonderful. We'd love to have you stay with us and our little piece of paradise we would certainly make you feel at home. Relax enjoy the beauty of our island - we know you will never want to leave. My motto for life - "As you grow older, you stand for more and fall for less."
