Nestled on a quiet, friendly, safe block in the historic Hamilton Heights section of Northern Manhattan, the home is a fashionable 3 family Townhouse where the top floor unit has been set-aside as a guest house.

The Townhouse sits very short distances from 2 different major subway lines, which quickly take you to all of New York City's attractions, (at check-in I enjoy directing you to transportation plus I love describing NYC's best fun experiences), yet its a quiet, friendly and very safe neighborhood. City buses are at the end of the block in both directions and a taxi company is at the end of the block.

All rooms are private with locks:
* The smaller bedroom is for up to 2 guests only, and has a queen-size bed.
* The larger bedroom holds up to 5 guests and has a double bed and three singles. (3nd one placed only if needed)
* The front suite consists of the Living Room with a sleeping alcove which has a bunk-bed (bottom double, single top) plus the large-deep sofa sectionals that comfortably sleep 2, for a total of up to 5. (sofas are usually best for kids).

We provide many healthful breakfast foods for you to prepare in our gorgeous kitchen: FREE.
* Hot & cold cereals (oatmeal, cream of wheat, boxed cereals),
* Eggs, breakfast meats and various breads, muffins, Jellys/Jams
* A variety of fresh FRUITS and fresh fruit JUICES
* Choice of various types of Coffee's and Teas,
* Succulent pastries (On vacation... maybe bypass the diet?)
* Minor snacks including cheeses, crackers and nuts.
We get great comments from our guests about our foods provided and how they would never have expected it.
NEW!!! **** FREE bottle of Wine for your group !! Your choice of Trader Joe's California wines. Minimal charge for extra bottles.

I very much enjoy hosting visitors to New York. Thus I am continually improving the space to make it very special for travelers. I have an interior design/architecture background and my place is the crowning glory of years of work.
If you have questions about the available amenities, feel free to ask or make suggestions. I am open to ideas for making my place one that everyone loves, and I have made several improvements as a result of guest's suggestions!

Smoking allowed only on the roof deck or in bathroom with fan-operating.

The apartment is owned and hosted by me, Bob. I live just below the guest unit and I am a minor New York City historian that completed my college thesis on "Harlem - Past, Present and Future". I am a walking encyclopedia about not only Harlem but all of Manhattan. At times, I have given private tours around Upper Manhattan or the entire island of Manhattan, to enrich the experience of my guests - please inquire if you would like such a tour. Minor charge, but I can only carry 4 guests.

If you are more than 12 guests or would feel too cramped then consider listing # 367692 for up to 20 guests.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • There were 9 of us staying at Bob's third floor and the space accommodated us all very well. It was comfortable, accessible to bus and metro, fit our needs very well and was truly our "home" away from home. Bob looked after us very well, taking us back and forth from the airport, and keeping us well stocked with supplies and information. It was really a nice extra to have the selection of breakfast supplies available to us every day. We would most definitely recommend Bob's place and stay there again ourselves.

  • We spent a great Christmas 2013 period at Bob's place. We were a family of 8 from Nanterre (France) and Bob's penthouse was perfect for our group !

Bob himself is a great guest who managed to give answers to our needs and even more, without ever being invasive.

Breakfast food was various, fresh and much appreciated ! The fridge was always full, eggs, bacon, fruits, various juices, milk, butter, yogurts, cream cheese, cereals, bagels, bread, croissants, ...

Bob's apartment is well equipped and organized with explanations always available, when and where needed.

The pictures and description provided reflect rather well the place and the location in a quiet street near 2 subway stations is very convenient.

As noticed by Bob in his description of the place, it can certainly be difficult to accommodate 12 persons but the place is well adapted for 8 to 10 persons. There is only one (large and nice) shower but we could have used if needed the shower on the other floor. However we managed to organize ourselves without using this proposed facility.

For a small extra charge, Bob picked us up (and brought us back) at JFK airport which was very convenient taking in account the number of luggage pieces we had. And a good way to start discovering Upper Manhattan/Harlem with his comments ! It was good also later in the week to find more advices from Bob, answers to questions we did not even have to really ask !

The only drawback we can notice is that we did not have a White Christmas ... But Bob had told us before that he could not guarantee it ! :-)

We definitely recommend this place and would love to use it again if/when we come back to NYC.

    Thanks, Bob !

  • What can I say? Bob is a class act and a great host. He put up with my very rambunctious children and a surprise 40th birthday party I was throwing for my husband. Not many hosts would be this accommodating. He did everything he could to help me make sure the party went off without a hitch. The place is beautiful and comfortable, and being a former New Yorker myself, I realize what a steal this is for being located in Manhattan. The free food and drinks is a huge bonus, especially for those of us with small children. Highly recommend. We will be back!

  • Staying at Bob's place during a long week end was great, his kindness is just amazing.
About the apartment, we especially appreciate the kitchen, the bathroom and of course the roof top.
Everything is provided for the breakfast ! Just Perfect !
    Go there and enjoy !

  • Bob was more than the perfect host for us (3 adults, 2 children). He made everything so easy including getting to the apartment: All our wishes came through thanks to Bob. He was so very helpful with our special needs. Wish I'd had more time to converse with him.

Dejligt stille i kvarteret. Dog er det midt i Harlem og man skal nok være lidt forsigtig når det er (website hidden) var dog fint tilfredse med opholdet.

  • Great place for large groups! Tons of space! And really cool roof deck area! Bob was a wonderful host. Very detailed overview of the place. Unfortunately on our work schedule did not allow enough time to partake in the bountiful breakfast options he provided. Very affordable space even with cab fare to and from Midtown. I would highly recommend!

And be sure to check out Harlem Public!! Amazing pub, minutes from this place.

  • Coping with a big group of ecuadorian ladies was such a challenge!!!
Bob was all the time helpful and ready to help us with every detail.
There was every day plenty of food for breakfast and more, never seen anything like that. The flat is a very good option for big groups willing to have fun together.

  • Amazing stay! NY is a incredible attractive city with lovely residents, and Bob belongs to them! He's utterly available and attentive : so, he had to face a refrigerator's breakdown, but he did his best for our comfort; he is able to be discreet, and respects our intimity (by the way Bob, thanks for the daily fan before our lating returns!).
His appartment is very comfortable, and not at least, has a nice roof deck; the neighboorhood is quiet ( next to a cemetery..) and safe; and 2 subway stations around.
    I recommend this place and his host ;

Although born and raised on a farm in Midwest US, I lived in the Caribbean during my young adulthood. Years later, I returned to a great Ivy-League University to complete my college education - but more importantly - to see if I could expand my understanding of this puzzling, culturally diverse, world we live in. I concentrated in Urban & Africana Studies + Architectural History & Design. Touring Harlem when writing my senior thesis on "Harlem's Past, Present and Future", I found my connection with its diverse people and historic Architecture. I moved here after graduation in 1990. Experiencing this variety of cultures has created a desire to not-only understand but to eventually write about various cultures of the world and I've traveled rather extensively throughout the Americas, the Caribbean, Europe and South Asia. However the limits of time and money have made me realize that another fascinating way of accomplishing this is: "Running a great B&B, brings the whole world to ME...getting paid for it too, makes me a BENEFITEE" :) All joking aside, it is a rare treat to host the great variety of the world's peoples. I hope to continue it as long as I can experience the gift of learning while giving-back valued service. Thank you for being a part of this joyous gift.
